I love the SNR for how low stack it is with the flex and growing feel… but as a forefoot striker I’m curious about the Prima. Sadly, it was never released here in Taiwan. Next time I’m in Japan I’m going to look for it.
I purchased the SNR back in May, same time as the SL2, due to your glowing reviews of the shoe. My shoe preference aligns closely with yours and have never been disappointed with a shoe you recommend. The SNR is such a great shoe for locking in a pace on your easy long run. Love this shoe and can’t wait to hear your thoughts on SNR2 and the rest of the 2025 Adidas lineup.
Agree wholeheartedly. This shoe always delivers. Never gets in the way of the run. Understated brilliance. Surprised by how little attention this shoe continues to receive. It’s almost, still, a ‘sleeper’ shoe.
I couldn’t agree with your thoughts on this shoe more. It has become my daily workhorse and the shoe I reach for the most. Despite the engineering, the ride is beautifully simple way and never gets in the way. Regarding durability, my pair has reached 600km+ and has held up remarkably well, almost as well as the Pegasus 39s which I eventually ran into the ground after almost 900km. I’ll be ordering version 2 soon and really look forward to racking up many more kilometres in them.
Right? Even though the engineering is complex…. The right is so simple and direct. That’s a sign of engineering that works well…. It just does its job and the shoe “works”.
Was looking for a daily trainer to replace my Peg 38 & Peg Trail 3s and so far this is a great shoe, I saw how great it was when I had to run in the rain in them, they performed so well and I doubt by Peg Trail 3s could even compare. Got these at 50% off so that was a bonus. The latest Pegasus from Nike would have been great but the price is too high. Thank you again for the recommendation, I don't know why other reviewers bashed this shoe so much.
I ran in the Supernova Solution for the first time today! It definitely has good bones to it. As an overpronater I’m tempted to buy another pair or two on discount.
Yes the Xtep Supernova rise is an excellent shoe... Im sorry I cant resist 🤭 I defintely understand your points... And the best thing is: you can find that shoe for 80-90bucks on sale very easily. For that price its a no brainer just grab a pair.
@@SagasuRunning I cant blame Adidas... the Supernova lineup is very reasonable priced and features and excellend training peba foam. Why use an "special" foam if you can get a foam that works very good. And I can definitely agree: in the xtep shoes which use that foam my legs feel super fresh after an easy jogg. When I run in something like pwrrun classic or hoka eva ... my legs feel beatup. Do you plan to land your hands on the Supernova Prima? Or is that already too max cushion?
The Prima never was released in Taiwan. Part of why I love the SNR is the flex and ground feel. However… another commenter said that the Prima (2?) now uses Addias’s Lightraxion CPU outsole… which changes the value proposition greatly…. It likely will be a shoe I need to look for in Japan.
Compared to the SL2 and Evo Sl...these are much more easy day focused...they will likely feel like the Peg Plus to you... witbetter durability and (even) slower speeds.
My supernova rise reach 200km and its really good for daily trainer (slow run, recovery, LSD). It make my foot stronger to wear Adios Pro 3 for raceday
Still undecided between the SNR2 and SN Solution 2 (both now available online), I have mild overpronation which causes some irritation on the Plantar Fascia. Currently doing some strength training to mitigate this but I am almost sold on the SN family if I can recover quickly in them from long-distance easy sessions.
I'd go Solution 2. The shoe is still neutral but has a little more structure in the medial midfoot and the support rods are a little more present. Both should help.
I appreciate your detailed reviews on this and other shoes as well. But surprisingly this shoe is not appreciated by other reviewers. For example, Novablast 4 is rated much higher as a responsive daily, versatile trainer than this one. Is that because of personal choice/ feel of different people?
Likely. We all have our preferences. This shoe didn’t get much “buzz” after Jan/Feb 2024 so few actually covered it as it wasn’t a “popular” shoe. Their loss I guess. It’s an outstanding shoe.
Not the shoe of the year for me due to its non perfected upper (i.e., non premium feel material, short non gusseted tongue, too fat around the ankles), but pretty close: First non ASICS shoe I bought in more than a year. To sum Chris’s thoughts and my mine: 1) Exciting technology 2) Very focused & defined spectrum of usage, do one thing great 3) Ground feel yet soft 4) Soft not plush 5) Ground-breaking potential It would win “Best Newcomer”, “Innovative Midsole” or even “Easy Run Shoe” smoking Glycerine Max, Magmax or Glidemax all well above 40mm. And this was its magic, it hopefully paves the way to a different approach for softness oriented, easy run shoes!
I actually didn’t mind the upper. In fact I rather liked it. I certainly ran in MUCH worst uppers last year. The SNR2 has a “simpler” upper… we shall see what it actually is…
@ I’m kind of nitpicking here, it’s not bad by any means, it just is not refined. It does the job. I will visit Adidas shop to see the new upper. Adidas has sent me a fresh new SNR pair after I retuned the faulty one, so I have to run a new 600 -700k before buying another pair.
I personally like Supernova Prima more. Having demo runs in both Rise and Prima and enjoyed Prima more (even though I am not a forefoot striker at easy paces). Lower drop and more forefoot stack height gives a significantly different experience. I thought the ride was a bit more lively and there was a bit more energy return even though Prima is heavier. I have seen Rise 2. It is just an upper update. I did not run in Rise 2 (chose Adios Pro 4 in the same demo event) BTW, there is also Supernova Ease which is even more budget than Stride. It comes with Dreamstrike midsole instead of DreamStrike+
The Prima never came to Taiwan. If I ever see a pair in Japan I'll pick them up. One of the big reasons I like the SNR so much is the flex and ground feel. I can't imagine the Prima has that as much...but I am curious (especially as a forefoot striker).
@@SagasuRunning Prima has LightTraxion outsole. That also changes the experience and possibly the enhanced ride is due partly due to the outsole difference. Like you were saying on Adios Pro 4 vs 3 video, that outsole helps with ground feel a bit.
@@SagasuRunning Yes. I also double checked on Adidas US website (Under details section) * Lighttraxion outsole If you look at the pictures of Prima. Outsole is composed of LightTraxion outsole (forefoot and half of mid-foot) and exposed hardened EVA rods that double up as outsole at the heel area.
I have all the supernova series. in my country they are always on a huge discount. imo the prima is def the best of the 4 followed by the solution. rise is the middle ground, and stride is just trash (gave me tendonitis)
I love the SNR due to low stack, flex and ground feel. I am curious about the Prima though, especially as a forefoot striker. Sadly, it was never released here in Taiwan. Next time I’m in Japan I’ll look for a pair.
Doctor of running says supernova 2 is more snappy than 1. And also, can u do a video about adios 9 and supernova 2? I feel like adios 9 is the enhance of streakfly.
@@frankg7412 Maybe the reviewer forgot to account for the break-in period. My SNR v1s felt a little stiffer, more resilient, and snappier during the first few runs, but they became more forgiving, flexible, and softer afterward. There are also many variables that can affect how we perceive shoes-like temperature/weather, weekly mileage, or the shoes we previously ran in.
The Supernova Rise ruined the Adidas SL2 for me. After getting much praise as the daily trainer to beat, I was so totally hyped with the SL2. But I was a bit letdown. Not the fault of the SL2 though. I was looking for that special buttery-smooth Supernova Rise quality IN the SL2. Yes, I've been spoiled by the Supernova Rise.
Agree. The SNR took a lot of the wind out of the SL2s sails for me as well. The SL2 was a great update and very Adizero…. Jsut the SNR is more the trainer I was looking for.
Watching this, I feel I should have purchased the SNR instead of the SL2. The SL2 just seems to lack something. I felt as though it should have been plated to add a bit more structure. The SNR seems to have covered this with its EVA energy rods. Might purchase the SNR. It may well be discounted due the release of the SNR2.
Well…. The SL2 is a trainer, so putting a plate innit wouldn’t make sense. I agree it was lacking something…. But in my mind they was needing more LSP and less LS2.0 foam. Great shoe but missing something. The SNR so very different. Much more mild. Much more where’s to easy running. The support rods structure the ride but don’t give any propulsion like energy rods. It’s just a very solid and very good easy run shoe.
@SagasuRunning I would class the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 as a trainer. That has a plate in it along with a peba blend midsole and is a very versatile shoe.
It's a great shoe. Some days I would prefer it with a more streamlined upper, but then there are days when I appreciate the comfort. You also bring up a great point that we often don't take our easy runs easy enough. I've been dialing down my easy runs a bit and was actually able to run longer and easier. I've actually managed to go from 5 to 6 days of training and broke the 40k/week barrier! I don't expect much of a different ride with the SNR2, but that's not a bad thing in my book.
The SNR2 has a (very slightly) simpler upper… I’ll get into it in my review and see if there are any substantial differences. I’m seeing mixed options out there on the reviews that are out. Congrats on a 40k week. That is a milestone for sure! Keep going. 🤙🏻
