I love the deep bounce and roll of the Prime X 2, and the Pro 4 sounds like it's lighter, faster little brother. I'm definitely getting a pair, but my Pro 3 still has enough life left for now.
The PX platform definitely seems to have been mined when the Adidas team was playing with bounce and roll in the AP4 development. it's not all from the Evo 1.
@@zirkaloid Say no more! I haven't run in the first version, but most people say it's even better than the 2, so now I'll have to try to get the Pro 4 when it comes out (which will be the 24th here). The Prime X 2 had pretty much silenced my shoe hoarding, because it's just the best shoe I've ever had, but the Pro 4 sounds like an absolute dream!
Just got this shoe 2 days ago and I concur thats it’s damn near 10/10. Just an absolutely phenomenal ride. Never thought I’d find a shoe that impressed me more than the AF3 but this shoe has. Will definitely be picking up multiple pairs as they release more.
@@NateCrail I went up half a size and feel it was the right choice. Just a perfect comfortable fit with some room in the front. TTS would have worked but would have been a true 1:1 fit and that would be an issue over the marathon distance. My AF3 are tts and they fit perfect for reference.
I really appreciated the description you used for the energy rods and ride. I always wondered what was the difference between a fill plate vs the rods and now it makes sense. Thanks!
It is REALLY noticeable here. I've always wondered how the Energy Rods would work and feel in a soft foam due to their ability to flex independently. It's a very unique ride in this new LSP. I'll talk more about it in my AP4 vs AP3 "vs" video.
@@SagasuRunningThats very interesting, none of the previous versions of the adizero line have appealed to me, but this new version really caught my attention.
I saw a photo of a Evo SL with the sock liner peeled up and the shank was visible and the shoe sliced longitudinally on run repeat. It looks more significant than “dog bone” implies to me. It looks like a 5 or 6 cm long traditional shank stabilizing the foam theough the midfoot.
Ok it’s gonna be a battle between Cielo x1 2.0, the Pro 4 and Endorphine elite 2. One of these shoes will be on my feet for the Stockholm marathon in the end of May next year.
The Endorphin Elite 2 is VERY soft...almost comically soft. It makes the AP4 feel firm...it is THAT soft. I'm not following the Cielo x1 2.0 so don't have an opinion on it.
I ran in AP4 and put my feet in Cielo X1 2.0. Cielo X1 2.0 is an incremental move while Adios Pro 4 is much bigger progression. I think (based on very limited feel) AP4 is the better shoe.
I have never really enjoyed my runs in Adidas in the past years. I was able to picked up a pair of EVO SL and am impressed with my first few runs in them. I am looking forward to give the Pro 4 a try (when the right colorway comes).
Ya, the AP4 is something totally different. The Evo SL has the geometry and is less stiff due to no EnergyRods...but the AP4 is something completely different. Almost un-Adidas-like.
Great review as always. It's reassuring that you said it's TTS. I'm pretty sure Santa got me a pair. I'm concerned that it runs a little short. A few reviewers said it runs short. I even saw an image of a bloody toe.
Great review. I am glad you liked them. Based on my demo run, it is a shoe to get. I told you that it runs small and size up 1/2. Based on my demo shoe experience, I need to size up to US10.5 (normally wear US10, also in AP3). TTS could be OK up to HM but I would like a full thumb width in front of my toes for FM. It is possible that it was demo colorway production issue. I am not alone to find them running short. There are other reviewers too and there were some bloody pictures from Valencia marathon floating as well. Meanwhile, I ran CIM in Adios Pro 3. Finally, I gave AP3 a race it was due and I was not disappointed. It was my 2nd fastest marathon. However, I am still nursing the lace bites from on my feet. More than a week later, I can still see the mark on both of my feet (especially the right one which was tied tighter) It was a bit painful on downhills but when the course leveled up in the second half, I got a partial relief.I do appreciate that new upper and better lockdown. Maybe I might return to CIM in 2026 with these trying to get a BQ.
I’m a runner who doesn’t like alot of room in front of my toes. I’d rather have a well fitted race upper than extra length. Plus it’s important with a super shoe to get the right size to align the curve of the plates/rods with your foot. In my testing for this review, I really pressed the toe and lock down issues with alot of fast downhill running and never once noticed any toe issues (and I’m VERY sensitive that). Congrats on the AP3 race/time. I never raced them but they are a shoe deserving of racing. The AP4 is a shoe I would consider racing though…. We will see in 2025.
Excited for this super shoe especially now that my current Pro 3 is being delegated to long runs. Also, glad to hear about the upper change with the being changed from the stupid Pro 3 rubbing eyelets and locking system nightmare for me. Although I am a bit skeptical about the fit especially with some runtubers having bloody toes after using it for marathon. Definitely a shoes meant for an in-store try-on.
Same experience with my pro 3 that i sold, make me stay away from any running shoes from adidas, it's Nike that has never missed for me, at least the ones I bought from them "fly" series.
Adidas definitely solved the upper drama. I'm a runner with VERY sensitive toes. Most super shoes give me toe issue, often well before the marathon distance, usually by 16k/10mi (which is why I made a point to do that run in these shoes). I can report I got nothing, not even a hint of toe issues... the only other shoe that does that for me is the VF3.
Great video! Was looking forward to your review. Bummed about what you said about pronators, I've been running in the Evo SL recently and found it awesome for workouts and much more stable than the SL2; made me look forward to try the Pro 4 but seems like it won't be happening. 😅
Ya, the Evo SL will be much more stable for a pronator due to the firmer foam (LSP Classic) and the lack of the medial cutout. If you found the SL2 unstable in the heel...the AP4 will be much much worst.
I really really love the firm bounce and midsole durability of adios pro 3, it's not 500kms but still as bouncy as new. I hope the pro 4 midsole would be as durable. Will wait for your long term review.
The AP4 will be durable, but not in the same way the AP3 was. The AP4 will be more like ZoomX... you'll get a solid 150-200k of performance racing out of them then another 200k+ of training. I'm going to try to push this pair over 200k and come back and discuss in the spring.
It sounds like they made a "better" shoe for sure. I am worried it might be a little worse for me, however, as a lower cadence mid to heel strike 200 pound runner. I absolutely love the AP3 and it holds up great for me on a marathon, I would be worried the AP4 might start to bottom out.
Ya, it could be...it's worth a try though. One thing i was looking for what if I could bottom out the foam. I'm about 40-45 pounds less than you...but even stomping on the foam, beyond 5k speed, I wasn't getting that feeling at all. Even when trying to make it bottom out. The foam is amazingly resilient.
I remember you saying the next major development in super shoes could be a next gen foam. Would this quantify as a large or small step in that direction? I would assume the new Saucony 'Incredirun' (terrible name) is similar to this new lightstrike pro.
No… what Adidas is doing is just a new formula of LSP, it is still supercritical TPE as it has always been. What Saucony is doing with their new foam is kind of next gen. It’s unclear what the material is… but we know it’s “something new”. Having held that shoe now I’ll say it feel unlike anything else on the market…. But also don’t think it’s the start of anything other brands will chase and Saucony will likely refine it next year.
good review just confirms as others mention for passive to moderate over pronation its a clear avoid, picked up a back pair of AP3 in the sales cheaper then the boston12. but does raise the question what brands are thinking of the market which require some stability within the shoe.
Super shoes are niche...and performance first. So stability is never going to be a priority for them, at least at the top tier. That being said, Hoka and Saucony (at least in 2024) seem to be building stability into their super shoes.
Oh no, I accidentally bought one from my officemate because of your review. Same silver colorway. I would say it's not as compliant as zoomx, it's still firmer, but softer than ver3. I love how light it is. I hope the foam would be as durable as ver3. Time will tell.
I find new LSP softer than ZoomX but not as resilient, which to my foot makes it feel slightly firmer. But it is VERY close and the differences between the soft foam with a plate or rods is quite noticeable and nice (I’ll have a video on it in Jan).
Adidas naming system is getting confusing now due to the use of the same name for different materials. It's not as confusing as New Balance and Nike, but still, they could have named it Lightstrike Pro 2.0 or something. I can imagine new runners who are not familiar with Adidas shoes getting the Evo SL expecting it to have the same foam as the Pro 4 and Pro Evo, only to be disappointed later on.
Yup...agree.... especially on the Evo SL. many reviewers seem to think they are getting the latest and greatest... but they aren't. I will have multiple video on all of this in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
You know... that might not be me. I'm not a pronator, so it's hard for me to say fully. I do try to mention it in m reviews, especially when it's obvious like here... but it's not something I can fully test.
Excellent, thank you. My question. I raced a marathon in my first pair of AAP3, fav shoe all time, on my second pair for M training… I have the NikeAF3, I feel it’s faster over the M distance. I am thinking of getting and saving a Nike racer or trying the AAP3. If you run a M tomorrow, what would you choose?
If the choice is between the AP3 and AF3... AF3 100%. In fact if I was going to race a M or HM right now, I'd likely still pick the AF3, even over the AP4. I'll have multiple comparisons "vs" videos out this week between the AP4 & the AP3, Af3 & VF3. Alot to say in all of those. Stay tuned.
You know that gif of the lady going "no, well, maybe, no, well" that was my reaction this entire video. I'm still going to try it, and I'm sure it's a step in a better direction but as someone who loved the AP3 and could really slug it out in that shoe it's a little sad that it's so different. Maybe not sad, just change, change is hard
Change is hard... but you might be surprised. I'm curious how you get on with it. I'm also shocked just how far Adidas has pushed this change beyond where they have been the past 4-5 years.
Love ur videos keep it up man. Can u please put the volume up when u edit ur vids bc everytime i watch ur videos i have to put the volume up and i cant hear specially if im running or there is people talking
Hmmm, I just tuned the dB down in my video prodcution (maybe the past 5 or 6) due to complaints of audio clipping. I'll add a bit dB back into my videos and see. That being said, I have always tuned my videos to have softer audio as I cannot standing videos where it feels like you are being shouted at. Also I never run with headphones or listen to anything not in a quiet room or with noise cancelling headphones... So noted, I'll make some tweaks, but I feel you'll always need to turn your volume up on my content.
Energy rods worked like this in Takumi Sen 9 and especially 10. With 10, midsole and upper also evolved to support this in a nice way, It seems that this was the goal with Evo 1 (never ran in them). I love this and will probably enjoy AP4 a lot.
Fantastic review. I've been running in the adizero line of shoes since the OG Adios was released. I'm looking forward to this version. I hope though it's not too squishy. The Pro 3 LS foam seemed to have the perfect balance of softness and responsiveness at around 120km. I'm hoping Adidas has achieved this out of the box with the Pro 4. It is a shame though we will not get the longevity out of this version as we did with the Pro 3. Guess Adidas will sell more shoes that way.
It’s squishy. I know they 120-150k broken in feel LSP had… out of the box the new LSP is much softer. The question will be how consistent will it stay over time. I’ll definitely be working on that into the spring and will come back with further durability thoughts.
@SagasuRunning looking forward to your thoughts on the new Adios 9. That one sounds like a banger. Also just saw an image of the Sen 11. I reckon this version could be the shoe of the year if Adidas nailed the upper. Just sent you the image on Instagram
Hmm... That softer foam while retaining the midfoot cutout could be problematic for midfoot strikers with mild pronation like myself. That lone pad you mention around the medial side of the heel definitely looks like it'll collapse for heel strikers. Adidas could solve that by connecting it to the rest of the foam, at the expense of added weight, ditching the current cutout in favour of one that resembles the VF3's (I'll be looking forward to that comparison) or the AF3's. Will they though? My pair of AP3s only have 360k under them so I'm still good for miles, but it's a bit of a bummer. Good thing the Evo SL and the Adios 9 don't have those cutouts.
Yup, it will be a big problem for some.... which is why I called it out. I was surprised to see the medial cutout on the AP4 back in Sept when we first saw the shoe in Berlin. At the time I didn't know hos soft the foam really was...but it was a leap from the Evo 1. Having spent alot of time in them now, it's going to be an issue...bigger that the medial cutout on the TS10 or the medial heel pad on the TS10/SL2.
@@SagasuRunning I was wondering how the AP4 compared to the TS10 and SL2 since you previously brought up the pronation issue for those two. In one of your recent videos you talked about development cycles so I think it's safe to say the TS11 will probably share some of that AP4 DNA (softer foam?) and we won't see any (remedial) changes for at least a couple of years, right? I wonder what Nike has in store for the VF4.
We have seen the TS11, it looks just like the A9 with a cutout and rods. The assumption is it is the new LSP from the AP4… but in one photo it also looked like there was a secondary foam. So unclear. Given the dimensionality of the EnergyRods and the low stack of the Takumi Sen, I’m curious how the softer foam will play out and not feeling the rods poke into the foot. This is why I think there might be a secondary foam in it. We shall see.
Great review, does however sound like this will be a miss for me, given the softness and my mid/heel strike. I'll see if I can test it out though when it finally releases in the EU
Thanks for sharing. Luckily I bought a pair of it in the Taipei marathon expo. How do you choose between it and the alphafly Next%3? The Alphafly is my 1st choice for marathon at the moment.
I'll have a "vs" video out this week comparing the AP4 to the AF3...stay tuned. The Taipei marathon expo was quite nice this year. They did a good job.
You had me at "proprioceptive feedback". I noticed that you didn't mention Adidas changed the rocker point from 70% on the Pro3 to 60% on the Pro4. That's huge for us aggressive mid-to-forefoot strikers, and is one of the many reasons why the Pro4 is at the top of my 2025 list. Curious if you plan to do a shoe(t)out between the Evo SL and the SL2? Thx, Chris.
I'll talk more about that in my AP4 vs AP3 "vs" video as it is a big discussion point in that comparison. For this review I left it out as I had a ton of other (more important) things to get too. I'll likely do multiple "adidas geometry" videos over the coming months to really dig into it. I agree the rocker point is a big deal... this is why I stressed the feel for forefoot strikers so much...and the fact it works SO well for me now (unlike the late stage rocker in the AP3). I will get the Evo SL and do that comparison... but, as of now, I don't think either shoe is "the one"...I could be surprised but doubt it. We shall see. I'll have a "Adidas rotation(s) video out in jan likely...once I can get time in the Adios 9 and Evo SL.
I'm a Nike guy and the Adios Pro 3 swayed me away from Nike for a while. Then Nike released the Alphafly 3 and I'm back with Nike. Now Adidas releases this one and I have to say, what a great time to be a runner 😂. The AF3 and the AP4 are two different elite super shoes and I like both of them. I'm excited how Nike and Adidas will improve these two stellar super shoes in the future. I have the same concern with the new LSP which is way softer than the previous version. I hope it doesn't bottom out quickly.
I was wating for this review, I saw a comment about mild pronation being a problem, how big of a problem would you consider it comparing it to the AP3? AP3 worked amazing for me, but i tend to have a light pronation on my right foot 🤔
Night and day. The AP3 is stable. The AP4 is not. The super soft foam will collapse inward and that little medial heel post won't do anything for you. If the pronation is "light" you MIGHT be ok... worth a try if you are interested the shoe. The SL2 and TS10 are very stable for pronators compared to the AP4.
If it’s anything even close to the Evo SL then it’s going to be fantastic. My ez pace has improved 10-15 seconds per mile at exactly the same effort and HR in the Evo SL. It doesn’t have the plate of the AP4 but it sounds like they have the same energy return. I never thought I’d find a shoe faster than the Prime X Strung 1 but the Evo SL is faster for me.
The thing no one is talking about with the Evo SL is that it is LSP classic foam, basically the same foam as the AP3. New LSP is VERY different and doesn't really directly compare. I have multiple videos planned on this subject once I can confirm some thoughts I have running in the Evo SL and Adios 9. Stay tuned.
Adidas went back to the drawing board and threw out the early designs for the AP4. This seems like a very good result. The AP3 has a lot of durability but also requires significant breakin of 80-100km and not less than 50km to really hit its sweet spot. If the AP4 is race ready out of the box but maybe is a 400km shoe rather than a 500km shoe, I’m not sure that’s a problem. I don’t know about that silver spaceman colorway, though.
Yup...I have a LONG video on that...the failed v1 AP4 and how the Evo 1 came form it. Adidas really did pull two shoes from that failed program. The AP4 is VERY ZoomX/Vaporfly like... 5k to lightly mold the insole to your foot and loosen the foam and adhesives up...then you are good to go. The silver color has grown on me, alot. So much so that when I had the choice between the white one and the silver...I bought the silver. I will buy an all white "non-dyed" one though if they come out with that in 2025 (which they normally do).
I am too. I know these won't be the tank that the AP3 was. I'm expecting more of a ZoomX fade/feel...a good 150-200km of racing and then another 200km+ of training. I will be pushing them to around the 320km mark (200mi) to see. I'll report back when I get there (likely in the spring).
@SagasuRunning Those numbers if are correct very good trade off. Solid 400k shoe. Tbh even though the pro 3 are capable of more than 400km I never use one for more than 500km and just buy fresh ones on sale. So it's not that bad if the numbers are close to what you are estimating.
We shall see. Given my years of experience with the Vaporfly… I’m confident in my assumptions here. I will definitely be working on it and report back when I have a better read.
Thanks for the insight, I got so excited listening thinking it would be my 2025 comrades shoe, but the stability and pronation issues you raised make me slightly concerned. I noticed even with the SL2 it exaggerates my pronation. Will have to consider other options
Comrades is demanding for sure. I know the Alphafly is popular for it. Think of the AP4 as a AF3 that you don’t need to worry about the Air Zoom units… more durable.
What other shoes with CPU-outsoles have you already run in? AFAIK some Chinese companies like Xtep have been already using this technology for quite some time on their racing shoes.
Mount to Coast uses CPU outsoles...and another I can't name (testing). Yes, i know the Chinese brands have been using it for sometime and have really perfected the material well. This is why I said Adidas is the first western brand (large one) to really use it.
First line hypes this up through the roof for me! I've heard quite some concerns on the stability, how would you rate it vs say VF3 and the metaspeed paris (for forefoot strikers)?
Similar instability to the MSEP, but in a different way. The MSEP is a high, firm and narrow platform. The AP4 is a wide, soft and bouncy platform. It depends on which instability you can handle. The VF3 and AP4 are similar in their softness, but the VF3 is slightly more stable due to the carbon plate. The AP4 depends more attention but the width of the platform compensates for the soft foam and flexibility of the rods. I’m not planning “vs” videos on either of these shoes..but I’ll talk about it in this month’s “Shoe Talk”. I will be doing “vs” videos with the 2025 Metaspeeds and the VF4 in 2025.
The TS11 is a bit of an unknown right now. We have seen it but don't know what foam is in it. I assume ints new LSP (same as AP4) but some of the leak photos make it look like there are two foams. We shall see...soon I would thing. I can say the SF2 looks to be much more aggressive than the TS11.
@SagasuRunning I hadn't seen anything on the TS11 so that's interesting. Seen quite a few pics of the SF2 and it looks very aggressive. Not sure why it's not out yet but I noticed there's a new dev shoe for it on the WA list so it could be some time till release.
It's a mega great shoe but a lot of people can't get look down in it. I can run only run 16-18km in it without get a blister. That is with tape and good socks. It's really not nice.
So i ran my last marathon in saucony pro 4 and still use my adidas pro 3 for training. Is the adidas pro 4 more stable than the pro 3 and better or equal to the saucony pro 4? As an example i also run prime x v2 and have zero issues with those.
Less stable that the AP3 and considerably less stable than the EP4. As I said, Adidas has tried to make this shoe as stable as possible (wide platform, etc) but it is a very soft and compressive foam.
I just got the Evo SLs from a limited release 2 weeks ago. I loved the rocker position and supposedly newly formulated LSP (best daily trainers I own IMO so far). Looking forward to this AP4, am expecting the Evo SL to pair well as daily trainers for these.
The rocker in the Evo SL is the same as the Evo 1 and AP4...but the foam in the Evo SL is the same as the AP3 (or close to it) and not the new LSP in the AP4. I'll have a video about this in the coming weeks.
Yes, I believe they do (I did a quick scan of Instagram to check). The 39mm references the "legal" height in the reference size (US 9) but sizes scale up and down from there, you are correct. The AP3 had the same stack height measurement detail, as do multiple Adizero shoes (Adios 8 & 9).
After the first reviews of AP4 I rushed to get a pair of AP3, as there are very few pairs left in my country. I found a shop with 3 pairs left at my size. I tried them on and the foam was not AP3 Lightstrike. It was softer. On the first pair the left heel collapsed internally, on the second one the right one did and in the third one both heels were wobbly. I'm a heavier runner but with no pronation issues whatsoever. I've never felt that in any shoes before, just by walking. And again, these were AP3 (with AP4 Lightstrike foam???). RIP Adios Pro... ⚰️
The AP3 shouldn't be doing that, at least the foam collapsing. There is alot of heel bevel and midsole contouring in the AP3 heel, but still it should feel that way, even for a heavier runner. I don't quite know how to explain your experience...but the AP4 WILL collapse due to the softer foam...
It doesn't make sense to me either. The shoes I tried this time had nothing to do with the ones I tried a few months ago. I regret not buying those then, but I thought I should wait and see what the AP4 would be about. All I can think of is: bad batch. It can happen when you shift production to a new model, in automotive as in sport equipment industries. Those last pairs I tried on might even be returns, as the outsoles were somewhat dirty, more than what you would expect from brand new shoes in a store. So if you want to grab a last pair of AP3, I would advise you to try them on first if possible.
A bad batch wouldn’t have made it though QC. If the store you tried them on was not an official Adidas store then they could be counterfeit. Many 3rd party stores, even branded as official stores in many countries (though actually run by local importers) get tricked into buying fake shoes often.
I hope they get some solid colorways... I mean ofc they will. I liked the Pro3 if not that disgusting upper... Boston 12 is nice but sizing is totally off for me. Prime X2 - OOF, upper and eyeled horrible. But their midsoles... a dream. What I also notice: Pro 3 was very rough and rigid... now a lot of cushion in the heel collor, upper looks decent. BUT: what are these laces again... Xtep, 361°, Brooks, Hoka they all use the fantastic laces as Nike showed it first in the AF3/VF3 ... adidas: here are your fantastic, thin, flimsy 10cent laces, enjoy
No doubt there will be many color ways for the AP4, we have seen a bunch in leaks. I'm holding out for an all white "non-dyed" one...I will definitely pick those up. Ya, Adizero laces are almost a meme at this point. It seems Adidas wants that too. Again, at least they don't stretch. I hate stretchy laces much more. As i said, I think you'll see most top end super shoes using CPU in the coming years, and more performance oriented trainers. The weight savings (and cosmetics) are huge. CPU is louder than rubber... but still more quiet than the Alphafly...🤣 Adidas is definitely aggressively discounting the AP3 at the moment. I've seen some color ways around $110 on their US site. Crazy deal.
I’m a 6’0”, 185 lb heel striker but not a pronator. I have the Takumi Sen 8, Boston 12, and SL2. All three work well for me. Do you think the AP4 makes sense for me as a marathon race shoe?
The closest shoe you mentioned to it is the SL2, though the AP4 is still much softer. You have no issues at all with the SL2? Then I'd say the AP4 is worth a try.
I think a lot of people will need to go half a size up in this shoe. I saw a few runners at the Valencia Marathon with bloody toes because of the tight toe box
I find it TTS, but I guess I like a tighter fit shoe. I tested it extensively with fast downhill running and got no toe issues, something I'm very sensitive too. For a super shoe I'll always recommend buying TTS and not sizing up as it's vital to get the plate/rods aligned to the proper place on your foot. Obviously, it's case by case though.
I just can’t kill my Adios 3’s! I’ve never loved them. Too firm and I have never been able to feel any energy return or bounce. Can’t build up speed in them. Nice stability though. Great durability as well. Always preferred softer carbon shoes like AF and VF’s. Sounds like Adidas have gone down their route.
How would I know this shoe is not for me? Like what should be the symptoms. I ask because I can run heel strike for some distance but as fatigue starts to kick in I tend to heel strike more...
I mean...I can't really answer that directly. This shoe WILL work for heel strokers, but it may take some adjustment coming from the AP3 (or a firmer shoe). The way you might "know" (and this is broad and vague) is any odd/new soreness or pain into or after a long run in them.
I just got the ticket to run my first ever marathon in Berlin 2025. I´m a slower runner and my goal ist to finish around 4 hrs. So far i was thinking about the endorphin pro 4 or the sc elite v4 as my race day shoe. Do you think the pro 4 could also be one for those long hours on food?
If it is your first super shoe ever…. You can’t go wrong with the Endorphin Pro 4. If you want something faster and more aggressive definitely the AP4. A 4 hour marathon isn’t that slow. You’ll benefit from either shoe and appreciate them both in the last 10k of the race.
AP3 made the top of my big toe bleed due to my bunion and where the placement of the adidas stripe is across the first MTP joint. I’m really hoping magically AP4 will not have this issue for bunions.
The shoe❤❤❤ i want My pair but i heart that fit shorts, the Pro 3 fotos larger in fact My pair in size 12 i can only use with thick socks and runners nock, so inthink that using size 12 on pro 4 could work for me any way i'm other modelos inuse usually 11.5
The AP3 was a tank...but ya, no one expected that, including Adidas. it felt like a happy accident. The AP4 should be durable for racing and training, but likely won't have the same racing shelf life as the AP3.
@@SagasuRunning I still undecided between Novablast 5, Superblast 2, Zoom Fly 6 and Adizero Evo SL. I'm a footballer, and I think I need 2 different types of running shoes based on the information I have gathered. The first is something I could use every day for an easy run, the second is for a longer run, and it would be highly beneficial if that shoe could also be used at a faster pace. To be honest, the only aspects of the Zoom Fly 6 that I like are the design and color (the Eliud edition), and it seems to be an excellent running shoe (based on some reviews). But the carbon plate is a concern because I don't think I really need it, and other people don't even suggest it for a daily run. However, I still included it on the list since I love the aesthetics of Nike. (I'm a footballer so it's a big plus😁) The Evo SL, on the other hand, seems to be the full package of everything I need because it is very versatile, I could use it for both easy and long runs (with a faster pace), and it has a beautiful design. I don't particularly like the way the Asics look, thus they're on the lower lists. In the future, for some rotation, Novablast 5 might be purchased for the easier, slower run, but not right now. I believe I will make a decision after seeing your review of Zoom Fly 6. Looking forward to it!
@@SagasuRunning Still undecided between Novablast 5, Superblast 2, Zoom Fly 6 and Adizero Evo SL. I think I need 2 different types of running shoes based on the information I have gathered. (I'm a footballer so it's a big plus 😁) The Evo SL, on the other hand, seems to be the full package of everything I need because it is very versatile, I could use it for both long and easy runs (with a faster pace), and it has a beautiful design. The Asics are at the bottom of the list because I don't like the colorway. I'd buy Novablast 5 for a slower, easier run and some rotation in the future, but not right now. I think I'll make a decision after seeing your review of the Zoom Fly 6. Looking forward to it!
The Evo SL + ZF6 share a lot of overlap but actually will work well together. The Evo SL as a daily shoe for daily runs and a little bit of everything and the ZF6 as a durable faster shoe for workouts and that you can race in if you want. I wouldn’t worry about the plate, everyone can benefit from it to some degree. The ZF6 is a plated shoe you can run in over, as it is durable and not overly hardcore. I’ll have my review of the ZF6 up in the first week’ish of Jan. A lot of content to get through before then. Stay tuned.
@@SagasuRunning This is one of the reasons why I enjoy your reviews. The way you compare the slightly different types of shoes and how you create the "performance matrix" is excellent and very helpful! Whoa, I had no idea you would write such a very positive review of the ZF6, it sounds like something I might need right now. It's good to know that wearing a plated shoe on ZF6 as a daily trainer shouldn't cause me any problems. Your review about the Pegs 41 is convincing and I'm aware that I need such shoes for easy daily run, a few excercises, the gym and rotations, and I could use the ZF6 as a weekly running, tempo and fast session. Given that both the ZF6 and Pegs 41 have stunning Eliud colorways, I might paired them together. I'm not sure about it yet, but both of the shoes seem a better choice for a footballer like me, if that makes sense. However, I will wait for your ZF6 review and get more information about other shoes before making the purchase. Thank you so much and keep up the fantastic work!
Does the Adios Pro 4 have two foams? This video: ruclips.net/video/YYH0kALwZkI/видео.html says that there is a small slab of foam at the bottom that is the same foam as the Pro Evo 1. I'm assuming that foam is different than the rest of the lightstrike pro that makes up the majority of the midsole.
Read the pinned comment in that video, by me, correcting one of (the many) error from that video. I also already covered this in detail in this video: ruclips.net/video/RAeIHjQKOn4/видео.htmlsi=8PVWJKfF22_NBV0w (go to the chapter about the midsole).
Lightstrike pro is so much better than zoomx! Enjoy your videos because of your eye for design but I strongly disagree on the zoomx is resilient statement. Nothing dies faster than zoomx
ZoomX and LSP have always been on opposite ends of a spectrum for me. Both have the same resilience, but the feel is vastly different (i.e The ZoomX yoga ball vs the LSP spring/shock)... but now LSP (2025 formula) is basically ZoomX, with less resilience. I have a video inbound in the next few weeks where I'll get more into this. It's an evolving subject...
@ you’re brilliant so it sounds nice. I’m not even going to pretend that I can present better points than you. But all my zoomx shoes turn into walking shoes in less than six months. Walking around the store amazing but Nike makes disposable shoes. I was a life long Nike client but that was before I tried anything else. Adidas is lapping those boys and asics already finished the race. My V1 superblast have 500km on them and nothing Nike makes could do that. While I have your attention for the moment, what are you thoughts on the v2 superblast not lasting as long as the V1? You mentioned in this video that the softer foam of the pro4 might make it breakdown faster than the pro3 did. I’m in country where v1 is still available on the website and I’m thinking about stockpiling. Watching you get comfortable on this thing has been fun. Keep up the great work and the more details the better in my opinion no review can match you in this forte.
Nike has always gone for performance over durability with its race shoes or any shoe with “-fly” in the name. One of the things I’m curious about with the Zoom Fly 6 is how durable it will be. Yes, the Superblast is a durable tank. Unfortunately FFTurbo is VERY rough on my legs and I don’t recover well at all from it. FFTurbo+ is a little better but still nothing like ZoomX or LSP Classic for me. I’ll take performance AND recovery over durability any day.
@@SagasuRunning AH I never noticed that. I stopped running in everything else after I got v1 SB. I got the v2 last month but maybe an actual recovery shoe would help log more mileage
Sounds great! As well as the Adios 9, which I’m planning on buying for track sessions. I wonder how the Takumi Sen line will evolve with this new direction.
I'll have a video on the A9 just as soon as I can get a pair...hopefully this week. The TS11 looks to be a hybrid of the TS10 and A9... assumption is it has the new LSP foam (same as AP4 and A9) but unclear...
Adidas is definitely leaning heavily on Chinese suppliers as of late for midsoles and outsoles. Not a "copy"...these are OEM products from vendors. Both use the same source.
Not a fan of this colorway but was going to order them anyway available in the USA app only. However, Adidas has blocked the use of Giftcards to purchase these shoes, so looks like I will be waiting.
I actually really like this color way, it has grown on me too. I had the choice between the white one and this one, i went for this one. I will pick up a all white "non-dyed" version too...Adidas does this so well.
The Diamonds in this shoe are made to be the Stopper like a Weave as the rest of the material is like a running light compression material that is not a true Medical style compression for runners or this is like the more modern shirts people wear for running that do not have the holes in the mesh weave fabric but are more like a performance nylon that breathes but in cheaper shirts/some of the light compression. This is different from a true nylon ripstop upper, as I have seen a the newer used like this in a brands shoe models when they used an inner bootie as the shoes were made for trail running/ultra trail running with the Ripstop overtop, I forget the brands shoes.
Norda uses (or has in the past) something like a ripstop, as does Speedland. Nike's Vaporweave was also something akin to a ripstop. Adidas's something is different. Cosmetically it looks like ripstop but functionally is very different. I agree, those diamonds are the flex area.
@SagasuRunning Yes, the inner diamond shape is the flexible part of the upper using more a performance nylon similar to the performance breathable nylon tech tees non stretchy spandex material to that do not have the micro--holes to the fabric only thicker.
I got a tiny bit on my Achilles, but only after 4 consecutive days of running in them for testing… otherwise nothing. Even that I personally, wasn’t worried about (why I didn’t mention it). As with all Adidas Adizero shoes, it seems like finding the right sock is key.
If only they make it more friendly to overpronators or make another racing shoe for overpronators and heel strikers. 🥲 that midfoot width is a killer, also the heel.
I feel like that is why they made the Evo SL. The name is very odd to me (this will be a topic of a future video) but fundamentally that is what I think the shoe is meant for, at leas tone of the main use cases.
@SagasuRunning i can agree. Been using it recently. I'm still overpronating in them but it is manageable and doesn't strain my ankles unlike the SL2 which i feel the overpronation. I just don't think it can handle marathon distance for heavy runners.
Ya… without the added structure of the rods it likely can’t for heavier runners. It will be interesting to see what brands do work for heavier runners in 2025. Both Adidas and Saucony, staples for heavier runners, have gonna soft.
@@SagasuRunning true... just when the upper in the adios pro have gotten better, the midsole foam went bad for heavy overpronator. Love the width they gave the evo sl. If only they upgrade the upper in the pro 3 and widen the heel base, that would be perfect. Fingers crossed that the boston 13 will be that shoe. 🤞
Not really. The footage I used in this video is from my first run, literally. So it’s a bit more cruising and slower… so I’m landing a bit flatter as I adjust to the shoe.
the energy return on this shoes is amazing
It really is!
@@SagasuRunning AP3 on sale now it become super trainer lol
It’s been a super trainer for a while. Some amazing deals out there for the AP3. Even on Adidas’s site.
You’re great at what you do. Better than most all other running shoe reviewers. Thank you, SR! 🎉
I appreciate the kind words, thank you. 🙏🏻
This is the one I’ve been waiting for. Really appreciate how deep a dive you do into these products.
More to come... "vs" videos this week comparing the AP4 to the AP3, Af3 & VF3.... lot's more to say. 🤙🏻
I love the deep bounce and roll of the Prime X 2, and the Pro 4 sounds like it's lighter, faster little brother. I'm definitely getting a pair, but my Pro 3 still has enough life left for now.
The pro 4 actually feels like the prime x strung to me with lower stack and much lighter with the same bounce!
@@zirkaloid I'm listening. I love my prime x v2.
Yes, I ran in AP4 and I own PXS OG and ride is similar fun with a lot of bounce.
Just got this shoe 2 days ago and I concur thats it’s damn near 10/10. Just an absolutely phenomenal ride. Never thought I’d find a shoe that impressed me more than the AF3 but this shoe has. Will definitely be picking up multiple pairs as they release more.
did you go true to size?
Try the diadora gara carbon bro. It is an absolute rocket compared to the af3. Especially under 3:10/km pace you feel an explosion underfooy
Right? It's shocking just how different it is...but also how much better it is.
If there is a place to start…. The AP4 is SO different it is a good place to begin (again).
That was a glowing review. Kudos to Adidas!
Adidas did a VERY good job with this update...amazingly so. I'm very impressed.
Looking forward to your review of Adios 9
You and me both! I’m even more eager after running in the AP4! This new direction for Adidas is very good.
As ever a Top notch review. Adidas really have their house in order.
Adidas running really seems too and are setting up to have an amazing 2025.
I was really looking forward to getting your read on this shoe but didn't expect it quite so soon. Thanks!
Nor did I. It suddenly released here in Taiwan about 2 months before I expected it. 🤙🏻
Ok it’s gonna be a battle between Cielo x1 2.0, the Pro 4 and Endorphine elite 2. One of these shoes will be on my feet for the Stockholm marathon in the end of May next year.
It will be interesting to see how much weight Cielo v2 drops. That'll be a big factor in how it compares to the other two.
@@gtromble I have heard 30-40g less than v1.
The Endorphin Elite 2 is VERY soft...almost comically soft. It makes the AP4 feel firm...it is THAT soft. I'm not following the Cielo x1 2.0 so don't have an opinion on it.
It has a lot to drop too...
I ran in AP4 and put my feet in Cielo X1 2.0. Cielo X1 2.0 is an incremental move while Adios Pro 4 is much bigger progression. I think (based on very limited feel) AP4 is the better shoe.
Thank you for the midfoot pronation warning
👍🏻
Thanks for the great review. Unfortunatelly not for overpronater like me but thanks for mentioing that part.
Adidas's pronation issues are something that should be mentioned. I'm surprised others don't mention it.
I haven't felt a more TTS shoe in sometime. I can't imagine going up or down in this shoe. It's a very nice "race" fit.
I can report I got nothing, not even a hint of toe issues... the only other shoe that does that for me is the VF3.
a Nike shoe with a "-fly" in the name is a race shoe and will always have a race fit, some better than others though.
@SagasuRunning thank you! Will probably not buy one yet since AP3 is really durable. Will wait for your final review :-)
Look for it in the spring sometime. 🤙🏻
1700km on my AP2 and they’re still perfect for base runs
@@ElG-y1xthat is incredible. How's the outsole? My ver3 left heel outsole is a bit wornout at 500kms
Adidas has the most exciting tech right now 😊
They certainly are looking exciting for 2025
I am so excited to get a pair as well soon!
They are quite special. Enjoy them when you do. 🤙🏻
Used this in a 10k event. It rained and the route was wet. I can say that light traxion plus continental rubber grips pretty well even on puddles
💯
My experience as well.
@@SagasuRunning waiting for that Evo SL to pair it with my AP4. Adidas is really petty with this limited release
I’m not sure the Evo SL is the right shoe to pair. I’ll make a video about it once I get a pair to test. Hopefully in the coming weeks.
@ thanks! Absolutely will wait for it!
would you recommend this for a 7:30/8:30 per mile marathon runner pace?
Thanks for the review
They feel great at those paces
Agree.
Yes. It may be one of the best options for moderate paces in 2025.
@@SagasuRunning Thanks Have to try them on.
good review just confirms as others mention for passive to moderate over pronation its a clear avoid, picked up a back pair of AP3 in the sales cheaper then the boston12. but does raise the question what brands are thinking of the market which require some stability within the shoe.
Great review once again!
Thank you for watching. 🤙🏻
Stay tuned.
Hope you can make a video for best racing shoes for overpronators, wide feet, and geavy runners. I think there are a lit of us with that problems. 😅
You know... that might not be me. I'm not a pronator, so it's hard for me to say fully. I do try to mention it in m reviews, especially when it's obvious like here... but it's not something I can fully test.
@@SagasuRunning i fully agree. I appreciate you still takle the overpronation in your shoe review. Thank you. 😁
With 10, midsole and upper also evolved to support this in a nice way,
It seems that this was the goal with Evo 1 (never ran in them). I love this and will probably enjoy AP4 a lot.
I loved the TS10… but the AP4 is a better shoe all around.
I’m not so sure about the TS11…but the A9 looks like a current candidate…as is the AP4. 2025 is going to be a very good year for running shoes.
Definitely test them. They are worth the effort and you may be surprised. When you do test them, let me know how (if) they work...I'm curious. 🤙🏻
@ Thanks. look forward to the coming "vs" video.
Yes. The Taipei marathon is well organised and getting better and better 👍🏻
I haven’t run it in a few years but am thinking I’ll do the half in 2025 and go for a PR… it’s a good course for that.
Glad you got along with it. If it works for you, it will work for me based on all of your reviews. Mine is three days away.
Let me know how you get on with them. I'm curious now.
@ will do
You had me at "proprioceptive feedback".
@SagasuRunning Nice. The Adios 9 is a conundrum. With the Evo SL, Adizero SL, TSen10, and the upcoming B13, I'm curious why the A9 exists.
I’m confident know why… once I get a pair to confirm I’ll explain…
I'm a Nike guy and the Adios Pro 3 swayed me away from Nike for a while. Then Nike released the Alphafly 3 and I'm back with Nike. Now Adidas releases this one and I have to say, what a great time to be a runner 😂. The AF3 and the AP4 are two different elite super shoes and I like both of them. I'm excited how Nike and Adidas will improve these two stellar super shoes in the future.
I have the same concern with the new LSP which is way softer than the previous version. I hope it doesn't bottom out quickly.
The AP4 is the most AF3 of any other shoe to date. I’ll talk about that in my AP4 vs AF3 “vs” video this week. Stay tuned.
Stay tuned.
@ Very interesting. It doesn’t feel anything like the AP3 to me. I didn’t like the AP3 much. I look forward to trying the AP4.
The geometry change makes a big difference… but the foam is the same as the AP3 (or very close).
Hey, do you use the same size for the Adios Pro 4 ,Supernova Rise and Boston 12 ?
Thanks.
Yes. The AP4 and B12 are similar and the SNR is a tiny bit longer (more pointy). But all US Size 9.
I love the silver colorway too.
I wonder how this would compare to the Cielo X1?
I mean…. That’s not fair. Differ classes of super shoe. The AP4 is going to be much more performance oriented. Night and day difference.
Waiting to see how you feel in them after 100-200mile interesting how much will the ride will change compared to the pro 3.
Muito obrigado por suas observações!
Obrigado por assistir! 🤙🏻
This makes me wonder if the Takumi Sen 11 will end up being similar to the Streakfly 2 (which I'm hoping will be a road dragonfly).
I have no idea when the SF2 will be out… but I’m already on it… stay tuned. 🤙🏻
Can you please do a comparison video between the Adios Pro 4 and Metaspeed Sky Paris?
I'm not planning a direct one...but I will compare it to the 2025 Metaspeeds.
Time to get Adios 3 for a steep discount!
It's a mega great shoe but a lot of people can't get look down in it. I can run only run 16-18km in it without get a blister. That is with tape and good socks. It's really not nice.
Crazy deals on Adidas's site lately on the AP3....
Ya, the upper is a mess...but that midsole....
Do all sizes say 39mm? I thought there was leeway with scaling rules.?
My MAY 2024 mfg date AP3 are firm LSP.
Yes… the AP3 is LSP Classic and should be firm. Soft and collapsing is suspicious.
CPU is louder than rubber... but still more quiet than the Alphafly...🤣
Adidas is definitely aggressively discounting the AP3 at the moment.
You will love the AP4 then...
Alaphatic tpu like Puma?
Adidas is experimenting with it. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in the Evo 2 at some point.
@@SagasuRunning Thank´s for your reply... atleast i hope to be around the 4hrs mark ;) If it´s going to be 5 i´m also happy to finish my first m!
AP3 made the top of my big toe bleed due to my bunion and where the placement of the adidas stripe is across the first MTP joint. I’m really hoping magically AP4 will not have this issue for bunions.
I have minor bunions and the AP3 gave me problems. I can happily report the AP4 gives me none.
Take my money Adidas!!!
Oh, they will...haha.
The AP4 fit is MUCH softer...you'll see. All the work arounds we needed for the AP3 are resolved in the AP4...
When you say true to size,If my foot measurement is 25.5cm, do I pick 25.5cm as well?
Pick whatever size you normally wear in Adidas running shoes. That is what TTS means. No need to size up or down.
Just my personal preference but I don’t love the rods on the AP3. Will pass on this and wait to see if they put a plate in the Boston 13.
The B13 has rods… it’s very similar to the B12…. If any Adidas shoe gets a plate it will be an Evo then and Adios Pro…
Nobody really expected the pro 3 to be as durable as it is, I think its natural to not expect the pro4 to be... ... Time will tell
The AP3 was a tank...but ya, no one expected that, including Adidas. it felt like a happy accident. The AP4 should be durable for racing and training, but likely won't have the same racing shelf life as the AP3.
Still waiting for the zoom fly 6😁
Almost here... stay tuned.
(I'm a footballer so it's a big plus😁)
The Evo SL, on the other hand, seems to be the full package of everything I need because it is very versatile, I could use it for both easy and long runs (with a faster pace), and it has a beautiful design.
I don't particularly like the way the Asics look, thus they're on the lower lists. In the future, for some rotation, Novablast 5 might be purchased for the easier, slower run, but not right now.
I believe I will make a decision after seeing your review of Zoom Fly 6. Looking forward to it!

Is it or is the actual design of the shoe making a difference?
The TS11 looks to be a hybrid of the TS10 and A9... assumption is it has the new LSP foam (same as AP4 and A9) but unclear...
the midsole and sole is a copy from quiaodan plaid (soft and durable)
I am getting some heel rubbing on this shoe. :(
I got a tiny bit on my Achilles, but only after 4 consecutive days of running in them for testing… otherwise nothing. Even that I personally, wasn’t worried about (why I didn’t mention it). As with all Adidas Adizero shoes, it seems like finding the right sock is key.
250!?
?
@ it can’t be better than the kings from Nike
@ I believe no adidas shoe holds a Mens record?
It's same price as the old pro 3 where I am.
@ I don’t do adidas and had no clue how expensive and I hear you find their good shoes?
Every time an American mispronounces Adidas a pixie dies. Seen any pixies lately?
Same for when a European mispronounces Nike, a bald eagle dies. 🤣
The B13 looks like it could be. The outsole is a mix of the AP3 and B12… and it looks like there are two foams in it still… we shall see this spring.
I checked your running form and I see you're more like middle strake.
Not really. The footage I used in this video is from my first run, literally. So it’s a bit more cruising and slower… so I’m landing a bit flatter as I adjust to the shoe.
