He does value it highly, but it just happens to show up for him a lot in packs with stronger cards or comparable cards that are more in his color. Destiny wants to keep LSV and FC apart, it seems
There weren’t many games in this draft where Academy would have been better than Tomb in any meaningful way, but it is sad to miss out on it with Tamiyo and Plunderer.
Honestly, I was glad he passed it, as I don't particularly enjoy watching him repeatedly lose with Artifacts. Artifacts feels like the 'new storm' to me: It supports one player at the most and even when it does come together it has a lot of draws that do nothing. The games it does win, it tends to win by miles, though.
Thanks as always for the content LSV and happy new year! If I could make a suggestion, I recommend to have the tech person who posts your videos here on youtube to also post in the details of each new video what deck is being used and the link to find it (if available). I always love to keep a record of as many iterations of your cube as well as other vcubes used here so I can switch it up with my tabletop group. Thank you for your consideration.
I feel like Gadgeteer might be a feasible cut from the cube. It seems to be taken decently high but never pans out. I see it in the board more than not
I feel like it's the wrong sort of card for the Artifact deck. When that deck wins to tends to do so by going really big, and Gadgeteer, while it has it's moments, generally feels a be a bit too 'small ball' to me. It's also another card that gets punished by the 'draw seven' hosers (Sheoldred, Bowmasters, Hullbreacher, etc).
any consideration to taking fable in pack3 pick1 to pass both pieces of power so each team gets one and you would get a third pick that seems great for your deck? or is sol ring that far out ahead of mox or fable just not meaningful enough for your deck that it wouldn't be worth a strategy like that.
1:12:31 i feel like using otawara on the frog when they had not discarded any cards was a mistake. i feel like it was better to use might stone and week stone to give -5/-5 then if they try to save the frog by discarding their hand evoke fury and finish it off.
@@Hoplite7G Yeah, but it didn't do much unless he top decked the land. Waiting until after the card draw delayed the frog for a turn cycle. Throwing away one of the better cards in the current situation just to deny the opponent a random card is not exactly a good trade.
Match 2 game 3 you were definitely supposed to run both of your creatures into the block. You keep monarchy and initiative and either get a 4/4 or lurrus goes down. You are also definitely supposed to spell pierce the wandering emporer so that he cant play a followup. Like the way you blocked just sacked a creature for no value
46:51 pretty sure you want to clean up the wandering emperor with fury. You have pyrokenisis still which can deal with bowmasters but cannot deal with wandering emperor. Bowmasters isn’t doing much outside of stopping you from cycling miscalc. Attacking with oliphant when your boros opponent has 2 creatures and you are at 6 life seems sketchy. Edit: lol, loss to path into containment priest. You definitely were not the beatdown there.
Binged a few videos in a row. Poor Aragorn. Think he went 0-3 at least. At deck building hope it performs well. Did seem like you would have gotten paid on Academy but I am a fan of making, what to think is, the right decision based on known information. Aka not being results oriented, whether Academy paid off or not, doesn't change the decision being correct or not. Whether not taking Academy was right, I'm not sure. The upside seemed high, imo but my opinion holds middling weight at best. Would be cool to save the draft and picks up to that point and poll some of the great cube players you know to see what the consensus is. 1. Best pick 2. Not the best pick 3. Highest upside with minor risk 4. Highest upside with too much risk 5. A push Or some combination of that sort of logic applied. Always love hearing/learning about stuff like that about strategic decisions in games like MTG, Poker, and other competitive esports.
1:03:53 I don’t understand how you are just dead here? 2 blocks would need to be made to save the wandering emperor then you are able to bauble self if you see a red card play oliphaunt if not hold pyro to see what they target with the forge, kill the skyclave and the ocelot pride. They pump the lurrus with wandering, chump block with token from skyclave
I love how LSV feels obligated to say that Fire Covenant is a great card every time he sees it after some posters threw a fit a while back.
The joke is that he almost always says what a great card it is when he sees it in a pack but very rarely takes it
Same with Uro, says he loves it and never takes it.
He does value it highly, but it just happens to show up for him a lot in packs with stronger cards or comparable cards that are more in his color. Destiny wants to keep LSV and FC apart, it seems
I think one thing is the LSV rarely finds himself drafting red-black, or in a spot where he can splash a fire covenant.
I mean look at the mechanics of the card. It is very often a 3 mana plague wind. An incredible effect, that REALLY shines in commander
Something about lsv’s voice is so calming. Always helps me fall asleep
He sounds like Winnie the Pooh
The Academy pick-crash-Ancient Tomb capitulation really broke my heart.
I think he could have pulled off Academy
it's weird to pick sol ring land over academy that on avarage will tap for 1-2 mana painlessly, but whatever

51:17 me yelling at the screen. You had a solid plan and gambled instead!

35:15 he can’t keep getting away with it
I didn't know I needed an Urza beatdown deck but now I do
Great Urza's spin at 35:37

To be fair, he top decked the land to cast Mightstone, but I'm not sure he had any better outs.
@@fwg1994 otawara was there to play it even if he didnt draw the land.

New years draft gotta love it
It was nice of you to give urza his bauble

Could had a pretty nice kiki jiki combo with splinter twin, conscript and exarch

Definitely an argument to take that Mox Opal over ancient tomb at that point
LSV Passed an 8th pick Academy? Hell has frozen over.

Slaxx having the fetch land was completely avoidable. So many players seem to miss out on good plays by waiting until it's too late.
is Luis legally allowed to pass tolarian academy when he's already picked up Urza? I'll have to call a judge.
Was very surprising i would have slammed aca there
Caves of Chaos Adventurer derailed the Urza deck. The Initiative is powerful and LSV knows what he's doing, but it kind of messed things up at pick 2.
I think that card may have saved us from seeing another 0-3 Artifacts video! 😆
@@sjake8308 Lol, maybe true.
Says a lot about the power of the initiative when you first pick Urza and pass on a 2nd pick clamp ...
Caves of Chaos Adventurer is a heck of a card. Much better than Urza, imo.
starting strong with urza

If they let wandering emperor die then same thing happens but you go to 1 instead of 2 (both scenarios must chump block Kellen)
Betrayed the TA by passing it bro.
i infact was waitinf
who else here in 2025?😜
oh, hell, yea
disappointing non-academy pick :(
