    If you go to the refuge in the summer, I recommend the tour of the house and the information about the history shared by the docents.

    Thanks so much for the video...it brought back some special memories. I was in Jackson Hole early in February 2019 and visited the Elk Refuge twice. Coming from an intensely hot Australian summer I REALLY noticed the bone-chilling cold....but the experience of the sleigh ride around the outer perimeter of the elk herd was sensational - an experience I treasure, I wanted to re-visit Jackson again this year [ 2021 ] but the pandemic put paid to that idea! Once again..thanks for your video. Graham W [ Melbourne Australia]

      Thanks for your comment. I'm glad the video brought back some special memories. The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem is definitely a magical place. I always enjoyed their winters. It's a great time for fun adventures and some great wildlife sightings. I also recommend returning in the spring or fall. Then you can get lucky and see some bears.

      Dress warm and wear a lot of layers! It can be cold and windy out on the refuge. I hope you all enjoy the sleigh ride and have a great time in Jackson!

    Hi Trevor, great video! I think I remember seeing the refuge a little as a kid, but I could be wrong. Anyway it looks pretty neat. The elk seem to be making a comeback in a lot of places. They are back in Big Bend and I've seen them on the drive there.

      Zachary Teich Elk, among other animals have made a come back which is great! I didn’t know there were elk in Big Bend. All I saw were White-tail deer there when I was there.

    Thanks for the video. Yes, I was there yesterday and loved it! (not so much the weather, especially coming from Houston :-D ) There was no sleigh (less snow) but a regular two-horse drawn wagon - still loved it though! I highly recommend to bring your own blanket because it is coooolllldddd out there!

      @@bfoldi7722 Awesome! Sounds like you had some good sightings. If you have access to a spotting scope, occasionally, you can see wolves on the elk refuge by scouting the landscape from the parking lot of the wildlife art museum. Last year, I managed to find wolves almost every time I went out wildlife watching. Since Wyoming increased their wolf hunt quota this fall, I'm not sure if the sightings will be as good but it's still fun to search.

    We are coming next month April - do you have activities for that season ?

    • @TrekkingwithTrevor
      @TrekkingwithTrevor  Год назад +1

      April is the off-season in the area. A lot of shops and other places will be closed. The South Gate into Yellowstone will also be close because they’ll still be plowing the snow off the roads. Most stuff won’t be open until mid-May to early June. April is also known as the mud season because the snow is melting, making everything slushy. April is a great time for wildlife. The bears would be awake by then. I’ll be in Yellowstone from mid-April until the end of May photographing wildlife.

      @@cavehoppers1 If you do plan on visiting Yellowstone, definitely keep an eye on the seasonal road closures on their website. You can also drive from Jackson, over the pass and through Idaho to enter the park through West Yellowstone, Montana. I believe it was like a three hour drive.

    I love to go elk hunting there, almost every fall. This year I will also shoot a whitetail deer. I hope they open up the wolf hunting. It will be a sad day if they stop feeding them hay anymore.
