Celebrate the life and legacy of Grizzly 399 with the filmmakers and Nature's EP on Wednesday, Oct 30th at 7pm Eastern: ruclips.net/user/livexlwERB_zxcE
Two of the beloved bears, 399 and 402, 399 from Tetons and 402 from Alaska, passed away this year 2024. Each of them had at least 8 litters. Some of the litters consisted of 4 spring cubs. They were amazing mothers. RIP.
this is from 4 years ago. As of last year, she emerged in May with 1 cub. I don't think she's come out of hibernation this year, so her current status is unknown. But as of last year she was the oldest grizzly mom on record!
I watched this at night trying to go to sleep and feel in love with this mama bear, I couldn't sleep starting to learn so much about her, followed several of her Facebook pages and it was just such a joy.... You will be missed!!!!!
Devastated to hear of her death today. A magnificent matriarch, and a wonderful ambassador for her kind. I pray her now motherless yearling cub is found, before it's too late. Sleep in eternal peace, Queen.
Whether it is humans or animals, a mother’s love is truly great, and life is both fragile and precious. Reflecting on our dietary and lifestyle choices, countless lives are lost in the process. As the most intelligent species on Earth, we should realize that if we choose not to consume or use animals and their offspring, we can respect and protect every life. Each small change we make can contribute to reducing the suffering in this world. 🙏🙏

489 Otis from Katmai is world famous, beloved, and magnificent, too. Though we didnt see him this year on the Katmai cameras. Sad that 399 was killed on 10/23/24 by a vehicle. Humans are reckless. Hope her cub will make it through hibernation.
We were so fortunate to have been documenting her since the late 90s and unfortunately we knew this situation would happen eventually to our road side bears didn't think it would be 399. Hopefully Spirit lives throughout the winter and carrys his mothers legacy on. We just posted a tribute video on our page of her 💙🐻
@@sharoncerasoli4268 I think there was a cub hit then euthanized like 2 yrs (spirit I believe) , there's also a yearling Named Rowdy.... There's a bunch of Facebook pages dedicated to 399 if you want more recent updates but the Team 399 said there's ppl out looking for him
I’m more irritated over her being referred to as a number instead of a name. The humans seem to be keeping their distance, which is good. There are people out there that are too stupid to not realize they shouldn’t get close to a wild bear though.
People were very respectful of her space. It’s these people that love nature and wildlife that make sure animals are protected. They’re the ones who fight for protected national parks. They’re not hunters, animal abusers, or stupid people trying to pet her cubs. The animals need these people. It’s good for people to see so many people respecting nature when there are so many videos out there of people doing horrible things to animals. Like the video I saw the other day where a group of tourist saw tiny cubs in a tree. There was a low fence there between the people and cubs but they walked over and pulled the cubs from the trees. The cubs tried to hold onto the tree but couldn’t you could see how scared the cubs were as they started taking selfies. One cub freaked out and they got scared it ran off the other cubs didn’t know what to do. How stupid and selfish! They’re lucky their mum didn’t see! Those are the losers not there people you see here and as someone that’s fought for animal rights for the past 25 years these people are not just photographers, curious people or nosey folks they really care about animals wellbeing . They love animals. They use telephoto lens. They can shoot film and photos that look like they’re standing 20 feet away. Mine can shoot a bird in the sky hardly visible to the eye and it looks like the bird is just flying over my head. So don’t worry the animals are in a national park and are very well protected. You can even see a ranger there.
They're not hunting them. They're just hoping for a glimpse at the magnificent animal. 4 Cubs is an incredible sight. No one intruded on her space or bothered her.
As long we respect nature and wild animals, there’s nothing wrong with admiring and loving these beautiful majestic bears. We humans need this connection with nature in order to love nature and find peace and happiness within ourselves. To those who say stay home and leave them alone, I hope and wish you would have said that to hunters, ranchers, and state fish and game who trys to dlist them and have them kill for sport and monetary reasons.
I don't think all these people should be there staring at her , especially with cubs . You guys are definitely making her nervous . She is gonna stop bringing herself and cubs out in the open !! I know she is Beautiful but would you want all the people around you and your baby !!! I don't think so , how about a bunch of Bears hanging around your home and disturbing your family , think about it !!! There are just way too much traffic and people . If she attacks one day being a protective Mom , don't get Upset or maybe even wanting to put her down because she attacked out of nervousness !! I'm surprised that the Rangers move people along , not gathering there . Am I right or wrong ?!! Does anyone agree or is it just me who thinks this way ???
It irritates me so much when they give an animal a number as a name like bro you cant spend 5 seconds coming up with a nice name like just "hazel" would've been enough
Some of them get nicknames, I think the numbers are for easier tracking purposes. Real names can get a bit confusing, I'm not a bear expert tho! My favorite is 151 Walker!
The number of people out there seems ridiculous. This kind of response and attention to a WILD ANIMAL should be stopped. I’m surprised there weren’t people out there trying to pet the cubs.
@@DemPilafian That's great! I was wondering if she had protection, only bc she's so famous & alot of people go too far for that perfect pic or selfie.

24 years old is quite an age for a bear to have cubs. I hope they all survive.. 4 is quite a handful for a mamma bear to care for🐻
Hunting season soon or what

She’s absolutely beautiful and those cubs are stinking adorable. 😊
A perfect touch of nature and wildlife.
It's definitely a contest between 399 in Grand Teton and The Boss up in Banff as far as most famous grizzly
she's famous for having a lot of cubs?

Was the cub euthanized ? No one is reporting this
He was no longer a cub but yes he had gotten too close to people and was no longer afraid of them so they euthanized him as a precaution it’s horrible

Tigers seem much more quick to react, I'd probably be more afraid of the tiger attacking than the bear.
