Dean was a pretty good "Cowboy" and in general I always liked seeing "The King of Cool" in anything. Not a great western but an interesting one. Great to see Robert Mitcham in this albeit the plot was all too very obvious. Dean and Robert remind some of us of the days when REAL men appeared on our screens.
Five Card Stud is always a fine reminder of how smoothly adventurous some western films were for their times. Especially with two solidly good actors like Dean Martin and Robert Mitchum.
Talk about Cool! Dino was just superb The more serious a movie got , the better Dean was. This is one of my all time favourite scenes from any movie ever.
This was the first movie I saw at a drive-in. The Geneva Drive-In, Daly City, right across the San Francisco city line. It still holds a special place in my heart.
I worked at a golf course in the mid 70’s in the dining room . Once , after finishing my shift , I saw Dean Martin at a table sitting by himself enjoying a drink . I walked over to tell him how much I appreciated his career , and he invited me to sit and talk . He told me about his Rat Pack days , making movies , his TV show , but mostly about his family and kids . He was just an ordinary guy and so proud of his children . He talked , and I listened for the better part of an hour . He struck me as a rather lonely guy . I shook his hand , said “ Thank you for a most memorable afternoon “ , and he replied “ I had more fun than you “ . What a guy .
Nick Evers is the man in this movie. The theme song is off the chain. Mitchum is dope! Then he'll say;that's enough today and he ride off like the wind.
In my opinion, one of the best lines in movies! A very good western!💀
That was a smooth and gracious reply to a grieving father's question of "Why?".
That is great.

The only thing about the movie that I didn't care for was Roddy McDowell playing a cowardly cowboy with an English accent!
You think you wont gag on all that? One of my favorite quotes.

This is the way Americans used to decide their differences. A gunfight. Maybe it's time we brought that tradition back.
Dean looking like Arthur Morgan in the Gunslinger outfit
As Dean would have said, "F....ing Giavoni Mack Brown"
