Rachelle is a whole nother beast. Like she is on a whole other VOCAL LEVEL. She's def a Vocal TITAN in her league. She has a master of LUNGS! Her range is ridiculous. Low to high. And like you said, the transitions! I love her.
Not a lot of singers know how to use their voice like an instrument. Rachelle and Lalah are two of the best at doing this. They are truly gifted, they've reached beyond master levels.
That right there is the greatest living vocalist... EVER. i have a lot of favorite vocalists (and Miss Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan are my favorite vocalists of all time), but this woman is a combination of spirit and science. She is one of the few artists whom i own every single one of their albums. Another one of my favorite vocalists, Anita Baker said that this is who she wants to be when she grows up- HA! Her and Lisa Fischer don't get enough credit at all.
Yodeling, Scatting and Whistling....now tell me where you gonna hear all this in one performance! I saw her live, she is nothing to play with vocally! Always in beast mode!
MysticStranger Yesssss me and my brother made up the name the Notemaker for Melba Moore. I've never heard a note longer than OTHER SIDE OF THE RAINBOW.
I remember reading an article about her years ago and she stated that her high note is so high it drove the dogs in her neighborhood crazy! Beautiful underrated voice. I Love Her!
You should definitely check her singing "My Funny Valentine" (Especially her performance at the Dakota Bar). She's a MASTER CLASS vocalist. No one in contemporary music from past or present time can out sing her. She's definitely from another galaxy.
ale5677 you're absoultely right. No one can out sing Rachelle Ferrell. She is truly the most gifted singer, I've ever heard in my 54yrs on this planet. Rachelle is a music genius.
She's definitely an overlooked singer with such an amazing range. And no lie; when she hit that whistle register and the audience reacted with a standing ovation, I couldn't help but laugh at it.
She is a beast! Gifted! Unapologetically different! If you get a chance to see her live, make sure you go. She goes to the deepest depths all the way to the highest highs. She said as a child she used to mimic firetrucks and birds. She also holds notes longer than anyone I've ever heard. She's gospel and jazz also.
She's not one of my favourites, but I'm totally sure that NO OTHER SINGER EVER will have her level of control throughout the entire range. Only very few are extremely close to her control, The Vocal Trinity of course.
Nia R. I didn't say that they have her same control, but they are the only ones to be extremely close to that insane level of control, but overall I think they are superior vocalists.
I agree with you 💯. Rachelle can do whatever she wants with her instrument. I can’t listen to the gymnastics after a hard shift. I love runs/inflections but a beautiful tone like Karen Carpenter or Whitney Houston is important too
No one can sing like her, no vocal trinity no nothing, she also has a 5 octave range , shes been singing consistently longer than many, she can sing super low, can belt upto E6 i guess in mix voice, then head voice upto end of 6th octave and whistle upto F7
Art Aspire i think she much greater than lisa fischer which is by the way has the same control like her, we have singers who are very gifted yet so underrated
ゲスの hes also amazing but he still doesnt have the control Rachelle has. Also he can only belt upto Bb5 while rachelle can upto D6. And also she can go very low for a woman.
I love your reaction video to this Rachelle Ferrell performance of her song “With Open Arms”. Your facial expression when Rachelle hit that whistle note was actually my same reaction as well. Plus, I love your honesty and sincerity throughout watching!! 🫶🏽👍🏾👊🏾🙌🏾
That is part of Black Heritage young man, be proud of it and Rachelle is simply way up there if not on top. I love Patti too but somehow Rachelle is in a class of her own. She is simply.......Beautiful.
I have been following Rachelle since like 20 years, being a Philly native, I pretty know much about all the musicians coming out of my city. But when Rachelle came along, it was like. WTF. I was singing in a band at the time, and she became my mentor unbeknown to her. Yes, unique, crafted with an appointing of Minnie Ripperton in her voice box, Sarah Vaughn on her scatting tongue mixed with her own rich tones of deep caramel, Rachelle is definitly one THE best vocally. Thank you for your reaction!
@colortura I think you need to study beyonce to see that she's probably done the most studying and preparation of any popular artist of this time period to be where she is today, and it is why she is where she is today. There are many receipts on youtube.
Rachelle Ferrell songs you need to hear, even if you don't do a reaction. 'Til You Come Back to Me', 'Waiting' 1997 in Montreax with the George Duke Band, 'I Forgive You', 'Blackbird', 'Reflections of My Heart'... Just a few to show her versatility.
Her stuff is sick! Especially her and Ledisi and Kelly Price. There are supposed to be talking, but, they sing their conversation. That's a must watch as well!
Rachelle Ferrell is one of the greatest vocalist of all times what she does is almost unheard of I heard that the last time she was in Detroit her performance didn't go so well but I hope she'll come back but if she never ever makes another song or sing another note she has left her mark on the world and there's no one like her I did see the clip of the performance and they really bashed her for it but what about all the times she's come to Detroit and gave us her all everybody makes mistakes but there was no reason to disrespect and humiliate her the way they did because regardless of her making a not-so-good performance she is one of the best and we need to give her respect because she more than deserve it and far as that over singing I don't call it over singing that is just her style
I had more fun looking at your reaction. When you started to laugh I knew exactly how you felt b/c the sound of her voice brings joy. Been following her for 20 yrs. I know her music up and down the keyboard. And if you get really good you can hear her doing background vocals for other artists like Lalah Hathaway and George Duke. She's a walking talking master class in music and song. She controls her voice like it's an instrument. She's an amazing and humble child of God.
My favorite female vocalist since day 1. Every song is a vocal exercise. There are no limits to that voice. If she doesn't do the most I am disappointed. Everything is clear and powerful.
Im seriously surprised that "JusttheVoice" has never seen some of these iconic vocal performances that have been around for quite some time. Rachelle is the MASTER!!!
This wasn’t just an extraordinary performance but a vocal PhD class from the valedictorian
Andrew Reynolds right!!!!! I am slain! 😩🙌🏿
Vladatron7 right I had a whole orgasm
@@Drewod485 lol
Amen!!
She has total control of her voice
But she has wierd style of musicianship
Imagine Raptr I think that was the whole point
Sho do👍👌🙌
Total control
@@AJ-kz1rg there is no "but" in her style. Weird? A better word is unmatchable.
That note was a C7😨😨😱😱
It was actually insane 😭
Rachelle plays NO GAMES with the mic
NO ONE sangs better than Rachelle Ferrell..... and that’s NO SHADE!!! She is one of the most underrated sangers but ACKNOWLEDGED
Glam Boy Dimish Kudaibergnov does, or he's a least equal with her.
ゲスの he doesn't have the agility of Rachelle.
ゲスの also Rachelle can belt up-to E6 and Dimash till B5
ゲスの post him for me
ゲスの Dimash doesn’t have a good technique.
Rachelle is a whole nother beast. Like she is on a whole other VOCAL LEVEL. She's def a Vocal TITAN in her league. She has a master of LUNGS!

This is the performance that first turned me on to Rachelle back in 1994 and I’ve been a fan ever since!
CANNOT BELIEVE, you didnt bring up the length of that note!! All in one breath! Don't play with Ms. Farrell! Lol
Nate J 24 seconds... DAMN!!
Rachelle will hold notes for days. I’ve only heard one person go longer, and that is Melba Moore at 38 seconds.

Holding notes while walking up the stairs!!!! That is... Something.
