Rachelle her voice and control is so unbelievable, what a gifted artist
EVERY note, intonation, expression, and mouth contortion has been and is nothing short of a virtuoso performance and a true delight and privilege to witness every single time, whether live or in- studio. She is absolutely captivating and other-wordly , please believe me when I tell you that her albums and performances are worth every penny! They don't make 'em like Sister Rachelle no mo', ppb!💯. Find somebody from the last 30 years who you think can blow - man or woman- and put their best song up against Open Arms. GAME OVER.
She is the real vocal bible! We miss you, Rachelle!

I said it before and I’ll say it again, her whistle range is crazy 😜.Hits them Effortlessly!!! You can tell how she opens her mouth 👄and uses breath control she has been doing this for a long time. You must check out some more jazz from her.

6-octave voice snd she uses each one. Plus she has the ability to hold notes for 20-30 seconds. She is also one of the best Pianists in the Jazz field. One of a kind.

Her concert sets are legendary. As always, thanks for the reaction. Brings back great memories. Check out another banger of hers, I Can Explain ~ live version. The recorded version is nice, but I didn't fully appreciate the song until I saw her perform it live. She's in a special class of vocalists (i.e. Luther Vandross, Patti LaBelle, Teena Marie, Brian McKnight, Lisa Fischer, etc.) who sound just as good as the recording or better live🙂

I came across this video and had to tell my story. One day my 4 year old son was outside playing and a song came on the radio; he asked me who it was singing. "I don't know" I said to him. I waited until the DJ give the title and the artist. Then I said to him "Michelle Rell, I think." I was stunned that she caught his attention. My son was diagnosed with superior audio when he qas in high school. I later realized that is why he tuned in to Rachelle so avidly when he heard her voice. Well, it was her debut back then and my son is now 34 years old and we are still are #1 fans. I saw her live in 2019 she is still AMAZING!🎶🎵🎼

I had the pleasure of experiencing her in person at the legendary Blue Note jazz club in New York in early 2000’s. It was so amazing to witness.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

So as we can see, she feels the music and expressed her voice with her whole face and body. The fact that she makes those faces is a positive, but guaranteed, this is why she didn’t achieve mainstream success. Unfortunately, this is what happens to a great many talents - Angela Bofill, Phyllis Hyman, Jennifer Holliday…. They give us musical gifts and anyone new to them will remark on how they look whole performing, which is ridiculous. Rachelle is incredible and I only wish we’d have something new from her, as Individuality is now 22 years ago, and while it’s a masterpiece, we miss her! Those like me who love and that appreciate the grace of true musicianship and vocal stylings wait with bated breath.
I can’t believe you are just hearing her beautiful voice, she is the truth she can break glass.
It's a shame that truly gifted vocalists like Rachelle are relatively unknown while so many lightweights are famous and making the big bucks.
