    Something I do with my thrunite (and it probably works with other AAA flashlights) is use a chapstick cap as a diffuser. (Some other lip balms have colored caps, so I've also got a red diffuser from a carmex lip balm)

    This might be one of my favorite edc light videos along with your aa iteration. Looks like you place a lot of importance on the same things I do. Have you tried the Manker edc sized lights, namely the e02 and e03? They’re right angle lights but they seem like a great deal

      I was excited at first but the detailed reviews shows they suffer from the same issues. I found out that the astrolux A02 with a normal aaa can maintain the 110lm output constantly! For 45 min...that's incredible and 9lm medium for 10 hours.

    I like my little Fenix E01v2, in New Zealand we are a small market so what might be a great torch (flashlight) in the US may be unavailable here, unless you buy from overseas and that can make it uncompetitive when you factor in postage.

    Im getting both of the Pineapples today, and im aware that it abruptly drops in brightness, but i mostly use low modes anyway, so ive been thinking that i can just increase brightness when this happens. I wonder if its possible to change out the driver with the Dr Jones H17F driver ($17), or maybe Anduril 2.0, or whatever driver the Wuben X-0 uses. As for the Pineapple Mini, im not aware of any drivers that small that can do similar things as the H17F, but it should at least not be difficult to find one that maintains the brightness very steady when using NiMH batteries. Li-Ion batteries tend to gradually drop in brightness (maybe its just the brands of batteries that ZeroAir uses in his reviews that have these characteristics???)...

  • @FluttuantChicken

    Which brand of 10440 protected battery do you recommend for the olight i3t?:)
    I really like the astrolux a02 but I'm not sure about the UI. Some says it uses the next mode each time you turn it on/off and that would be quite annoying for me...
    Do you know if it has memory mode (turns on the last mode used) or if it starts always from low - mid - high?
    Cheers

    • @EspenFrafalne
      @EspenFrafalne 11 месяцев назад

      Acebeam M20 is discontinued for some reason, but i managed to pick up several of them on sale about the same time you wrote this review. The brightness and runtime on Mid is pretty good for hiking purposes. 25 lumen for about 220 minutes according to ZeroAir, and the brightness is also completely stable until it drops pretty abruptly towards the end. Another good thing is that it does NOT have PWM ("rapid flickering"). The size is perfect for clipping to the pocket, and IMO also pretty decent for a keychain (i use the MecArmy X1S on my keychain). Color temp is 6500K, which is not my favorite, but not a dealbreaker for me. The main thing i dont like is the beam pattern, so i wonder if i can get some nice TIR optics for this flashlight, that focuses the light a bit more and gets rid of spill.

    I think they changed the UI on the Ti3 V2? Used to start in moonlight, then go Medium, then High, cycle through twice to get strobe. Now it starts somewhere else or has memory which is a pain. Always know mine will start in moonlight, which I like

    The Beta QRV2 can also tail stand if you pull off the quick release end. Also, if you buy the copper version it has a higher output mode with the same high CRI and as it is solid copper, your finish won't wear off. It will patina, but for some that is a plus.

    I am getting a mini pineapple soon, and it supposedly can tail stand from what people have said. I've been looking up reviews on lights and its supposed to be one of the best AAA lights, if the info I got is right anyhow.
    Edit: Oh you talked about that, lol. Well I am gonna use it for EDC around the house and maybe to take out trash so I should probably not be concerned about a big drop off I would think.
