What's really sad is that when Woods was suffering from Alzheimers, she forgot she was Cinderella, and the nurses would always play "A Dream Is a Wish your Heart Makes" to keep her calm.
I had read that the last bit of her life when she would get really depressed which can come with Alzheimer's or she was having a bad day, they would play her recording of A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes and it would always cheer her up.
Ariel has a very beautiful singing voice but Cinderella's voice is infinitely more lovely and heavenly. Cinderella has the most lovely and heavenly voice out of all the disney princesses, when I hear her voice especially when she sings, I feel like I am lying on a cloud in heaven listening to an angel sing.
I also thought 'Sing Sweet Nightingale' was a genius way to layer her voice. Very few artists does this. Mariah Carey is one. But Walt Disney definitely came up with the idea. And Ilene sang it brilliantly.
Greetings from South Africa. It's singing in harmony. Take The Everly Brothers as a typical example. Now take the recording of a single persons voice and sing in harmony with it.
What a kind, well-spoken woman. Despite Disney's controversies, I'm happy she had a wonderful time in her role. IT does seem like such a warm environment from how she described it, and in Disney's early days, I have no doubt it was. Rest easy, angel.
She was an inspiration. What a beautiful human being. The real Cinderella! How much joy, light, faith, and magic has she brought to the world through her performance.
It's such a shame that the Disney Company lost a legend like Ilene Woods who was the original voice actress behind Cinderella from Cinderella (1950 Version of a Disney animated movie which is a retelling of Charles Perrault's fairytale of the same name which was my mom's favorite). R.I.P. Ilene Woods, we'll miss you and your great voice acting forever. 😭
I'm a guy and I don't remember it, so my parents told me years later. I was obsessed with Cinderella growing up and begged my parents to take me to Cinderella breakfast in the morning as Disney World. I was clearly very happy in those pictures. It is really upsetting what Nature does to us, all those memories and bonds you form, they just disappear and are gone forever.
Listening and singing A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes sparked that inspiration for me to not stop following my dreams today. I learned today I was not hired for the job position I need to kick start my dream career, and I prepared really well so I felt really disappointed with myself, lately rethinking if I have what it takes to follow my dreams. But hearing upon this song really touched my heart and helped me feel inspired to follow that dream after I stop grieving about it, I first have to believe in myself more than anybody else.
What a beautiful person... where have all the women gone?? Now it's too much sarcasm, and pride, and disrespect and competition. This is beauty and simplicity and trust.
Greetings from South Africa. As a blind person, now 26 years old, I think we need more people like Ilene and Walt because I love the attitude of "we can do it" instead of "how can we do it" or "can we do it". There have been quite a few challenges in my life, mostly with education, but I have always managed to make it through somehow. When I go to my weekly Ballroom dancing sessions I feel so alive and energetic and because of that I can understand where Ilene is coming from when she says that Cinderella's goal was to have a good time at the ball. RIP Ilene. It's wonderful to know you as Cinderella. You'll be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Another example of a beautiful voice for a disney princess was Adriana Caselotti for Snow White. Believe it or not, despite living a low-key, quiet life after voicing the iconic character at age 18, she still retained the vocal abilities to do Snow White's voice up until her death in 1997 at the age of 80.
close your eyes and you see Cinderella. Aged and heavy but still graceful and lovely.... as you grow older you don't love the princesses as much as you begin to fall in love with the people and the voices and the persons that worked ,that sweated and struggled to bring them to life..... OR IS IT JUST ME WHO THINKS THIS??
We know she’s the one and only Cinderella but we also know she’d be happy to pass her roles down to the younger beautiful Cinderella’s. So everyone who’s saying “there’s only one Cinderella good enough” and “no one could ever be Cinderella like Ilene” stop it! Because she’d be happy!
Cinderella (1950) is one of my favorite Disney Princess Childhood Movies & Cinderella is one of my favorite Disney Princesses. RIP Ilene Woods (The Original Voice of Cinderella). 5/5/1929 - 7/1/2010.
Did you know that Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty's graceful moves were modeled after Helene Stanley? Cinderella even has the same smile as Helene. When you watch Cinderella dance in her bedroom while singing A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes, those moves are exactly Helene's. I'll PM you the links.
Concordo com tudo que você disse!! Linda, original e eterna Cinderela!! É triste saber que ela já morreu, tenho quase certeza que a minha Cinderela (Simone de Moraes) também já morreu :(
did you hear her new song true sisters at the movie of sofia the first once upon a princess her voice is so very young to hear wen she was voicing cinderella
I swear, if I see another Pixar movie made again I am going to scream!!!!!!!!!! Pixar is downright played out and overdone, we need to make true Disney classics again like Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and of course my beautiful and lovely Cinderella again!!!!!!!
The Little Mermaid technically isn't a classic, it came out in 1989 and Walt died in 1966. He helped with the Jungle Book which came out in 1967 and he approved Aristocats ( released in 1970) and was also working on that but sadly passed before they finished that project.

Yeah that's sad. At least you liked her own song. She forgot that she'd voiced Cinderella. She will forever be Cinderella no matter what
yes...

Just think of the good happy times . Doom & Gloom. This lady was a fabulous Artist & you remember one part of her life towards the end . Wow heavy 😳
Excellent share. Thank you 🌹

+Srikorn Koy well, that's kinda what happens when you're a human. good thing I'm an internet.
Srikorn Koy we all died c'mon don't say that
she is still living in our hearts and in cinderella 😊
I also thought 'Sing Sweet Nightingale' was a genius way to layer her voice. Very few artists does this. Mariah Carey is one. But Walt Disney definitely came up with the idea. And Ilene sang it brilliantly.
Agent it’s beautiful especially the visual with the bubbles I love it
Greetings from South Africa. It's singing in harmony. Take The Everly Brothers as a typical example. Now take the recording of a single persons voice and sing in harmony with it.
I agree,I adore that song
I wouldn't say a few artists does this. Nowadays this is quite common.
@David G her singing in different parts, harmonies, then blended together as 1
What a kind, well-spoken woman. Despite Disney's controversies, I'm happy she had a wonderful time in her role. IT does seem like such a warm environment from how she described it, and in Disney's early days, I have no doubt it was. Rest easy, angel.
She’s aged so well 💕
R.I.P Ilene Woods :( xxx

Whats really sad is that before she died of Alzheimer's, she didn't remember that she voiced Cinderella, but loved the "Dream is a wish" song.
She was an inspiration. What a beautiful human being. The real Cinderella! How much joy, light, faith, and magic has she brought to the world through her performance.

I was 16 when she died. I don’t remember how I handled my grief.

Even the actress in those days was classy magical and whimsy her voice is beautiful
i could kinda hear the Cinderella voice when she is talking. if u listen very carefully
I actually do to, now that you mention it

Not even Lily James can match up to Ilene Woods.
nope
Eoforhild Forneux who smiling zombie?yes.(..)
Eoforhild Forneux I agree. That's why I prefer the original cartoons better.
Eoforhild Forneux Oh, never in a million years does lily james come close!
I think they’re both really good.
What a beautiful person... where have all the women gone?? Now it's too much sarcasm, and pride, and disrespect and competition. This is beauty and simplicity and trust.
Sarah Danielson the elegance of beauty...
Sarah Danielson Mary Costa, who played Aurora in 'Sleeping Beauty' is still alive
What do you mean by this?? She was a beautiful person, but I dont think all women today are sarcastic, and not as beautiful or anything...

She was so beautiful and sounded so sweet Cinderella will always be my favorite princess and she made Cinderella voice so amazing
This had to have been before 2010 that she talked on this video because 2010 is when she died.
So sad..
I know, she was a sweet lady.

ALL the women who voiced the Disney Princesses were awesome! ;)

This footage looks like its from 2000
Anyone know where I can find a video of her in her younger years talking in an interview ? Black and white footage ?
I get chills when I listen to “oh sing sweet nightingale” and now I know why. Thank you 🙏🏾
You just gotta love Walt Disney!!!
when you was young you was just like cinderella ilene for this i love you and i love cinderela so much and she will be my favourite princess forever
What a sweet lady. I wish I could've met her.
She was so beautiful! She was, is, and always will be Cinderella! No other actress, alive or otherwise, will ever be able to match her!

Brandy was my generation’s Cinderella. And who knows what Illene would think of her if she saw that version.
If she was alive, even though she is old, only she deserve to voice Cinderella everywhere
I always loved Sing Sweet Nightingale. And the bubbles aren’t the only reason!

The most beautiful voice
Ilene woods never talked about her amazing talent and voice, only working with Disney.
이분 너무 존경함ㅜㅜ
One must wonder if she EVER met Adriana Casselotti and Mary Costa?
Amazing 🙏🏽
Great interview! I would have loved to meet Walt Disney! It's so sad what Disney has become now with all the woke nonsense. RIP Ilene and Walt ❤❤
I keep saying for a while that Disney has been hit and miss lately. Their last great movie was Encanto.
She is the voice of the Disney Cinderella movie.
I pretty sure that it is a video from their archives.
shame that actors today are too fking intense and serious to even have fun
Love This ❤
can someone please explain to me all the harry potter comments???
did you hear her new song true sisters at the movie of sofia the first once upon a princess
her voice is so very young to hear wen she was voicing cinderella
The movie was made in 1950. What do you think?
Still a classic!
What if Ilene Woods was alive and watch the 2015 Live-Action version???
That would have been so sweet
God bless your page
She sounds way younger wow

I didn't say that everybody had to like Harry Potter.. I was just saying that the Harry Potter cast had lots of fun on set..
Mary costa i still alive too now but she died a little earlier
It’s very sad that she forgot she voiced Cinderella. Alzheimer’s took it from her. She will always be cinderella
Wait she's was blond i thought she had black or brown I'm confused

Actually, they’re all gone… William Phipps, who voiced Prince Charming, passed away in 2018

Pixar is downright played out and overdone, we need to make true Disney classics again like Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, and of course my beautiful and lovely Cinderella again!!!!!!!
That’s how I feel. Pixar is good, but the classics are just amazing

I guest that Abigail Disney make all that stuff up and give the Disney family a bad name.
Can People Wistle amd Humm?

Those are opinions.
Not all people agree
(08042020 we'd) The water, air, food, architecture (home) are all bad. It somehow affects creativity n daydreaming.
don’t insult tangled like that
Not Harry Potter though, it seems like they have a lot of fun on set :)
She had Alzheimers..so...yeah
Harry Potter makes me barf, sorry but not everyone has to like freaking Harry Potter!!!!!!!
