    Wow !! That G6134TG Paisley Penguin is some eye candy and the TVJ Pickups are so cool. I just committed-$4K to a Gretsch G6136T 140 Double Platinum with the FT67 pickups, which was my guitar budget for the next 3-4 years. Have 7 Gretsch Guitars , but no G6134TG, G6136, or G6196T…The new G6136 arrives in January 2024. Will have to live another 10-15 years to afford the other two. 😁🌴🥥🎸

      If a penguin is only 3-4 years of budgeting it won’t take 10-15 years, right? Right?

    For the curious, did a little sleuthing and figured out the guitarist in most of these promo vids is Adam Armijo. The guitars are great, but I think Adam might be greaterer.

      Glad to finally know this! It's cool going back through some of Gretsch's old videos (like the one for the '58 Penguin), and in the very beginning, you see him with short hair wearing a suit! Not just a great player, but a great musician. I'd love to have a conversation with him about all things guitar.

    At 0:25, how do they get that real clear, almost glassy tone? I keep hearing people get that out of Filter'trons, but I've never been able to reproduce it. Awesome guitars, and awesome playing!

      Long time Gretsch player here. That's the classic Gretsch clean sound we all love! Two things to look at. 1. Are you using a clean enough amp? Using a Fender valve amp helps. but any totally clean amp with a splash of reverb should get you there. If not then play around with your amp tone controls, because the Gretsch will do it all day long. 2. If you're happy with your amp, then check pickup height - you need Filtertrons to be pretty close to the strings. Further away will be muddier, so the closer the pole pieces are to the strings the better - as long as the string still vibrates! You can also play around with pole piece adjustment. ie Set a higher pickup height, and lower pole pieces, or slightly lower pickup height and higher pole pieces. Both sound different. They are designed to be screwed in and out to fine tine your sound - so don't worry about adjusting them !

      @@gazzie12000It also needs to be a Fender blackface or Silverface amp. I have a Fender Bassbreaker and it definitely doesn't get that clean, even at the cleanest of settings. Only 6V6s and 6L6s are able to do this

      @@nekkon1989 Ideally I agree those are the best, Deluxe Reverbs and Princetons are fabulous, but also works perfectly with my Hot Rod Deluxe and Blues Junior as well !

      1st: Incredible playing. Way cool that his fellow can compose these pieces to profile these new additions to the fabulous Gretsch line-up;
      2nd: I agree with all of the stated clean amp solutions to get that glassy tone. Gotta have clean sounding amp; I use a Fender Custom Deluxe Reverb, but also have had similar tones generated when using a two compressor approach. One set for a hard compression, leading to the next comp in the chain which has a more relaxed setting; Seems to get pretty darn close to what he's playing here at that 00:25 place. Glassy with just that nice nuance of pick attack that gives immediate definition to the chord or single notes.

    Limited Edition… 🤔 How many of the Paisleys were produced? 100, 1.000, 10.000? Can’t find an official info…

      Don't know, the spec but visually they look like Magna'trons with fatter pole pieces..

      TVJ said: The pickups in the Sidewinder are very similar in tone and response to our new Zoom'Trons. To my ears they are similar to the T-Armonds, but humbucking--very full and articulate.

    Gretsch is quickly becoming a one trick pony. How many times can they keep doing the same old redesigns of the same boring instruments? To be fair, one can ask the same question to Fender, Gibson, and practically every other manufacturer of guitars on the planet. It seems like everyone has run out of new ideas.

    • @Hickeroar
      @Hickeroar 10 месяцев назад

      I agree with you, but I’m curious what kinds of things you’d like to see. Fender, of all the big brands, has shown the most tendency to stretch the norm, and since they own Gretsch I would love to see them step out in “adventurousness.”

      If it ain't broke, as they say, don't fix it. Ergonomics will remain a critical consideration. As to pickups and finishes, there are plenty of options. With all the boutique brands there are out there, in addition to the majors, who have made their names on classic designs and features, there ought to be something for everybody to like.

    • @Gril018
      @Gril018 10 месяцев назад +2

      well why reinvent the wheel? its been decades that this format works, plenty of differences regarding brands out there if anyone want something different. If a fender takes a big step on that, it will just not be fender for the majority of people (example: their aerodyne series).

    • @gazzie12000
      @gazzie12000 10 месяцев назад +3

      Why should they change, they are musical instruments. Good job you don't play the violin, cello, piano, flute, etc etc...some of them haven't changed for centuries😀

    • @Walks-With-Pride
      @Walks-With-Pride 10 месяцев назад

      @@gazzie12000 True but they don't constantly dangle cellos or violins in front of your face trying to entice you into spending your money to buy one new one after another. This is what I find to be disgusting.
