Rabea is one of those people i've never talked to and i've never met in person, yet everytime i see a video from him i feel like i'm seeing a friend. Such a nice guy, wonderful musician, i hope you doin great man.
Gretsch are getting it right from the Streamliners up to the top of the range player editions. They're all brilliantly finished, sound great and have a coolness that most brands just don't have. Plus Rabea giving them a workout , guitar heaven.
So true I got a Streamliner single cut (p-90 in the neck, humbucker broadrange bridge pickup) a month or so ago on sale for only $250 and I expected it to play as such. Really has a better feel then other $500-$600 guitars from other brands and after a setup that thing is just so solid. The wraparound intonates well and the sand color metallic finish is flawless with a binding!
These are some of the absolute best guitar tones I’ve ever heard. I’m floored. I think if my rig sounded like this my wife would have to leave me. I’d never leave the basement
Man, the clean parts sounded so HEAVENLY, so inspiring! I'm lucky enough to own one of these Gretsch Limited Ed. in another finish color. Amazing instruments.
Holy Sh*t, Man. I just watched one of yer vids from couple of years ago and the change you made in yer look is mahussive. Well done, you look healthy AF and happy too! Not to mention your superb playing, this always was exceptional. Thanks for the vid!
Thanks for the great playing Rabea! BTW the tone you get from the Gretsch and the pedalboard/amps is absolutely awesome! Don't forget that by doing this you do not only show us the beauty of these Gretsches but you also encourage and inspire lots of players out there (including me!) to pick up the guitar, play more, and try to nail a few of those licks and riffs! This is so inspiring! Thanks man!
Bea, great job on this. I'm so glad that you put this beautiful instrument through its paces. Too often reviews and demos pander to traditional uses (twangy and spongey), and they're fine, legendary tones. It's great to see you demonstrate the diversity of tones that emote from this Gretsch, it growls and howls, and it roars when you want it to. I don't own a Gretsch; you make a good argument that it truly belongs in the complement of a guitarsenal.
I always decide I want something AFTER it is no longer available :( I have never been interested in a Penguin before, but I LOVE this Grey/Violet one! Great playing as always Rabea!
Just a really solid review. Gretsch was genius in having you demo this. It sold me one- mission accomplished Gretsch. I love Gretsch guitars and the rockabilly stuff and all but it just isn't my style of playing and their guitars are so costly that it just didn't make it feasible for me to put down the cash. The tones and even the color combo of this one were just spot on for me.
@@RabeaMassaad About to pull the trigger on a Penguin, man! A Koa Brown Penguin Limited. Arguably one of the most beautiful instruments I've seen so far. I own Gretsch G5655TG in my collection (which is also super good looking) but this thing seams like a piece of art.
Your playing never cease to completely amaze me... I could seriously listen to you noodling around for hours on end.. You should really make videos of you doing that! (Maybe not hours, but a longer video anyway)
Gretsch: Hi Rabea, really glad you like your Penguin. Hey listen we have this limited edition one we'd be wondering if you'd demo for us. Just you know, do your thing. Rabea makes video. Gretsch: Umm, we're gonna need to make more.
16:25 KWS tone right on the money! Absolutely CRUSHING bite on that beast. You make any chunk of wood with strings sound stellar. I wouldn’t have ever considered one of these in my arsenal, but there’s tones I didn’t know this thing had. Impressive!
@Rabea welp you have just did it. I have been wanting a penguin for years now. But the only videos were the rockabilly stuff that I love but I’m a metal head and punker as well. Just ordered my black penguin. Thanks a bunch!
Yes! This is the demo Ive been looking for on this guitar. Of course it can do the typical country thing. Who cares about that? Lets here some rock on this! Beautiful. Edit: ended up buying one recently. Unbelievable guitar. The pickups are some of the best Ive heard. Crystal clear, and great for rock too!
it's more versatile than what I heard on first listen. I am surprised by the clean sounds which are really very good in the end. And big distortions are also possible. Really not bad.
The opening tones show that in your hands those pickups are capable of spitting up blood! but also some nice articulate clean tones in there too. Some sweet stuff there for sure!
I wonder how it must feel to be an incredibly accomplished guitarist playing a stunning piece and more than half of the comments are about your body...great playing as usual
As I stated on another Gretsch video, there are two types of guitar players: Those who fear Gretsch, and those who respect Gretsch. Not a dog in their entire lineup.
a treble bleed is a circuit to allow top end to come through when any guitar volume is turned down -where it usually gets darker, The gretsch system is just a series of resistors linked to a switch so you cna select from 3 "tone choices" from dark to light. Its not a treble bleed circuit, FYI. :) keep rockin
