    Love the fact that when Gretsch does a custom shop guitar they dress it up to the nines and make it immaculate. When Fender and Gibson do a custom shop instrument, their idea of creating a masterpiece consists of hitting it with keys, gouging out pieces of the finish or woods, and generally inducing uncharacteristically heavy wear than what would be expected of how any normal working musician would actually treat their instrument that toiled hard for their money😅.

    Thanks. Great review, and the player's chord progs and riffs showed the depth of the instrument's tonality and versatility.

    HA! Get down Cooper! You deserve to. Great presentation boys. This guitar sounded great to me, except when the mud mode. I’m among those whom don’t get it, I’m afraid. Probably because my talent isn’t good enough yet. Love your videos and watch every one.

    I am only commenting because of the serious begging at the end. I was torn between a Gretsch and a Duesenberg Starplayer TV. Finally went for the Doozy. Maybe next time. Shhhh don't tell Mamma.😊

    It's a beautiful guitar, but the Space Control bridge they're currently using annoys me - it's closer to the type some Teisco guitars used to have, with the different sized saddle pieces and a straight threaded bar as opposed to the original Gretsch one with the curved threaded bar and identically sized bridge pieces. Even the studs the bar goes into are the wrong shape.
    I found a company called Music City Bridge who have just started offering a period-correct Space Control bridge that looks exactly as per the diagram you get with the 'case candy', right down to the elegant, rounded studs. And what's more, they've offset the bar in the centre so it's compensated for intonation!
    I got one for my 6131-59 Jet Firebird and now it looks perfect.

    So if I want to go to 9-46 hybrid string set I won't be able to intonate it? Or any other gauge for that matter.

    What genre are these generally used for?
    Tasty playing by the way. Thanks for the review. Would like to see more Gretsch products reviewed.

      Gretsch are generally used in country, rockabilly and blues depending on the model. Some of the solid bodies have interesting range depending on the year and model. I play a corvette with the old powertrons in them and it is a lot of fun. Very comfortable and light, all Gretsch solid bodies are chambered. The vet I play can handle pretty much any 90s stuff like pumpkins and also let's me play rockabilly easily enough.

      @@KT-fn6me I honestly am hard pressed to think of any genre that you can't find a guitar for from them. The TV Jones pickups always sound special to me.

    Incredible looking thing, but with the Bigsby and the pickup switches up by the neck, there's not much space for strumming. I'd be forever smacking one of the two

    • @BackToTheBlues
      @BackToTheBlues 2 месяца назад

      I have a 6131-59 with the two switches, and that's how it was for me at first - I use a single fingerpick instead of a regular pick, so often play with an open hand when I'm playing chords.
      That said, I soon got used to it, adjusted where my hand hits the strings to a little closer to the bridge, and now it's fine!

    I think that I might have left y'all a bad comment once (the introduction of urban iron bark, or whatever it was called). Every review it sounded horrid,except yours.
    I try to remain positive, and I try to not compliment Cooper, but he is a beautiful person and I hope a son whom I once said "looks like Jesus" and he cut his hair.
