+GrimangelX4 the 3DS has sold more than the PS4 lol plus the retro feel honestly makes the game better if you're into that stuff. next gen graphics aren't important and I think it's sad people assume a game is worse because of lower resolution or textures. gameplay>>graphics.
Nintendo's been doing a pretty good job at advertising it. If they keep it up I think it'll do well.
I really hope people buy it so we can get more DQ here.

I am around 23 hours into the game from getting it on launch. Just unlocked all trades Abbey and changed my vocations. I am now at a part where I went back in time to a desert island. I currently have my player as a gladiator, Maribel as a sage, and Ruff as a monster masher. This game is by far one of my absolute favorite DS games now.

You know, this is not the first time, back in the 80s Nintendo gave copies of Dragon Warrior away with subscriptions to Nintendo Power, I believe it was Nintendo of America themselves who localised the first game, but by the time it got localised it already looked ancient in comparison to Final Fantasy and Phantasy Star, even with the complete overhaul they gave to the game...
It's unfortunate that the series never caught on in the west like it should have, but this is the best opportunity it has had in a very long time, and we shouldn't let it pass!

I've been waiting six, I already saw it coming after I got DQVI for the DS.
3 was a guess I don't remember when I first heard about the port. In all actuality it's probably closer to 4 or 5. Just one of those things I was looking forward too gave up hope for and then forgot about. But a little part of me always hoped during Nintendo directs.
Sad Tamaki Back in late 2010 I thought DQVII was the least known of the bunch and I guess at least for the west, it was. So I started imagining how it was like and that's when I thought how would a remake would look like.

just arrived at the point were select classes not really sure which ones to pick currently have my hero character a a sailor, maribel as a priest and ruff as a warrior somewhat of a annoyance that don't have all the party members by that point so could plan it out a bit easier. plus the classes descriptions i found to be rather vague
how do you know if you are Maxed out enough to change characters for example my character is at 4 stars with a sailor but my Warrior is at still at 1 star and they started at the same time?
is there a certain amount of stars that have to show that it's maxed out

The fact that you can have an entire party of slimes in this game automatically makes it the best DQ game
I wasn't planning on playing this since I had already beat it twice on PSX but all of these trailers have me wanting to play this again so badly.
its been completely remastered. and the gameplay streamlined. no more random battles and has a bite size chapter system to make it more palatable yo young gamers as well as older gamers.
also added two additional dungeons and street pass function, allows you to share and recceve travelers tablets , to remixed dungeons that you completed, similar to DQ 9 DS.
I am really looking forward too this game, and I'm not even that big of a Dragon quest fan.
Try this (not the original one) or IX first. I also heard VIII is great.

I'm really interested in the change in the Vocation system. Back in the PSX version, monster classes were kinda... pointless and filler-y because the human classes were far less of a hassle to get while giving most of the skills. All skills carried over, so...
It also limits Swords Dance. Swords Dance was too strong for its own good in the PSX version, being a Warrior/Dancer hybrid making it easy to get if you knew how (there wasn't much in the way of explanation on what hybrid skills were), while here it can only be used as a Pirate, and hybrid skills are removed and instead placed in monster classes and advanced human classes.
That alone balances a lot.
I got this game last week and I absolutely love it, but which town allows me to change vocation? I'm getting tired of my hero only being able to do one attack that does damage
after finding the right tablets you have to rescue Alltrades abby in the past , only then can you change vocations, don't forget to explore the Islands in the present as more treasure can be had and you get to se the changes you made to the islands.

I had this way back on the playstation. The game is still somewhere near my TV. Never finished it. I'm picking this version up. In the original you could get stuck and find out there was a map piece you missed several hours back and spend hours backtracking searching for it. I've heard this version has much better signposting. I'll beat it this time!
Classes were always one of my favorite aspects regarding the gameplay of the original Dragon Quest VII. Just trying hard and spending hours grinding to get the GodHand class and mighty Ultra hit, might sound boring, but it definitely carries something rewarding.
This time it will be less tedious . No more random fights. And some areas shortened. This improves gameplay. And allows you to mine metal slimes for EXP. also, gameplay has been changed to a chapter based system , so that chapters are in bite sized segments .
Yes, the remake overall is very well done. It seems that it offers a whole new experience, while staying true to the original. If only more remakes would follow in the same steps.
Dragon Quest VII for the PS1 is quite possibly my favorite RPG. Hopefully, the remake is good.

I've yet to play the later ones, but maybe one day I'll get through all of them.
i`ve played every DQ out there (even rocket slime and torneko`s adeventure) and V is definitely the best ... followed very close by 8

I'M SO HAPPY THIS IS HAPPENING! I completely fell in love with IX and was wondering if they were going to bring out another but for the 3DS! AND MY WISH CAME TRUE! (I hope the release date is the same worldwide .-.)
if enough people DQ 7 and 8 3ds then we may get a special DQ collectors edition. I gave up the idea that Nintendo would do a bundle with DQ 3ds and a DQ 7 game cart.

How does this vocation system actually work..?
I rescued Alltrades Abbey in the past, changed the characters vocations first time and am currently grinding battles in that Egypt-themed desert island that opens up next in the story.
I've finished far over 50 battles and my Warrior, Mage and Thief are still at 1⭐...
Are my characters' levels too high or is my game buggy..?
I read that there are caps for levels in certain areas where the vocations won't Level up. Right now, I am spam attacking the weaker enemies in the Sticky Business tablet. There is no limit in there.
Can someone please explain to me the sequence? How is this 7, but people are talking about 8,10,etc? The last Dragon Quest game i played was sentinels of the starry sky and i was super causal and didn't know much. But it was my favorite game and i'm going to buy the new 3ds to play dragon quest again.
This is a 3D, fully-translated and improved remake of the original DQVII for the Playstation, back in 2000. The newest Dragon Quest game was 10 but it's out only in japan and it's a MMORPG. Dragon Quest XI was already announced and confirmed too, for the next year. Nothing has been said yet whether that one will come outside of Japan, but we fans hope so.
This is a remake for Dragon Warrior 7 that came out in 2001 for the PS1.
This is 3DS remake of PlayStation1 game that came out in 2000.
DQ8, 9 and 11 have come after the original DQ7 (for PS1)
DQ9 is "Sentinels of Starry Sky"
and DQ10 is MMORPG for Wii, WiiU and PC that was released only in Japan

DQ7 is a standalone entry, so you'd have no problems jumping in to this one first. And DQ doesn't have ATB, just Speed stats that determine what order characters attack.

It's separate from the rest, so I don't see any problem with getting this one first. It doesn't have ATB, it's pure turn-based.
id say dont get this one first, as it has no less than a billion classes and the story is like 400 hours long.
all numbered DQ games are turn based like Pokemon, where all actions are selected first, then played out based on the highest speed stat.
but i highly recommend DQ4, 6, 8, and 9. 4 and 8 dont have classes, each character is fixed into their role the entire time. 6 and 9 both have classes, but far fewer than 7 does, making it very easy to know which ones are good, and which ones arent. if you like any, or all, of those, definitely try some more! DQ is one of my favorite series, right behind Final Fantasy and Zelda.

A personal story of mine: It took me four (or three) games for me to love Final Fantasy (FFI&II for the GBA, FFVI AKA III for the SNES and FFIV for the DS) and just one to love Dragon Quest (DQIX)

I kept hearing that they changed the vocation system for this version in that spells and abilities don't carry over. But, from this trailer, it seems that they didn't change it at all except for the character models.
It's a all new tiered system, similar to DQ 9. The tree will be different from the PS1 version .
Spells/abilities for all basic classes carry over still, I'm not sure about intermediate but they may as well. Advanced job abilities do not. However most monster class abilities carry over and they are definitely more useful.

They upgrade it From low res sprites and made it 3D and are using the DQ 9 engine .

Hello. It's me again. This is an idea I had for minecraft wii u. Mods. I know it sounds impossible,but it can be possible. Players can do so much more with them. It would add a completely new addition to the game. There can be mods like pixelmon,superheroes,etc. I hope you like it.

Well this one is the longest in the series but also one of the funnest, i would also reccomend 9 as your first Because of all the customization.

You can start with any of them. IX though on the DS is fantastic too. Cheap to get too.
I'm going to sound like a broken record going from comment to comment, but I personally loved Dragon Quest V. It got me interested in the series. It's an older title, though. There's a remake for the DS (it was originally an SNES game, I think) that's fantastic and you can probably find it cheaper than the newer ones.

Roxas4th I was just half kidding half curious to be honest. I don't play video games for fan service (outside of actual porn games), so I don't really care whether or not they're in it. I'm playing it for the story and gameplay mechanics.
I think they made it less sexy and localized it as a jester costume.
