Synopsis:
Cheng Shao Shang is a young girl who was forced to grow up alone after most of her family had to leave to fight in a bloody war. Thus she becomes stubborn and untrusting. She fends for herself in a town populated by people like her, who have been left behind by the war.
One day, a talented and powerfu general named Ling Bu Yi comes to the town - and falls in love with her at first sight. He resolves to marry her, even though it will cause him no end of problems if he decides to pursue this union. She also warns him that she doesn’t trust him, and that her stubborn personality might not be suitable for the wife of a general. But Ling Bu Yi also has deep secrets, and there are facts about his true identity that even he does not know. You forgot the best part when Shaoshang and Ling Buyi got married and he wasn't there so he wanted them to get married again so he can be there at the wedding.. He even said that if he's not there at the wedding then the wedding doesn't count 🤣🤣.. He waited so many years for that day 😂😂

the way Ling Buyi rose from the bed like a vampire rising from a coffin hahahaha when he heard news about Niao niao and all of a sudden he was cured and walked with vigor hahahahaha and then he had that little pleased smile to himself like he got his way and he has an excuse to see Niao niao again 😂

I always bust out laughing the first time NN meets the emperor, her dad tells her to greet him so she's casual just asking something like "How are you doing?" instead of the proper greeting...idk why but it's a moment that captures her character so well 😂😂
That’s because he has that down to earth personality that you can talk to like a friend, he is not your usual stuffy emperor
This the first C-drama historical I've watched where the emperor is likeable. I'm sure he has had to have been ruthless building his empire for the last 10 yrs, but ruling with a fair and kind heart has endeared him to his people. I love the balance between the Empress and Consort Yu, and even though the Empress is a bit jealous of the relationship between the emperor and consort, the emperor totally respects and honors the empress the best he can. My god, they had 4-5 children, so he must like her a little bit! It's a ruling palace with drama, but not totally evilness. I love that Consort Yu is not greedy, and clearly, loves the Empress as a sister!
He’s fantastic and loving but fair. Another good emperor depiction is in Oh My General. It’s more of a comedy than this film and of a much lower budget but also good.
I’ve only seen clips of this series so far, I love this emperor! He’s like the fandom representation in the series with how he ships the two main characters, lolol. Especially at the end, ***spoiler alert *** when he’s like “how can they have a wedding without me?!?!” Same here emperor, same here!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I'm in love with Ling Buyi character. His deep voice and the way he charges into action whenever the woman he loves is in danger. Ohhh man. This emperor shows the love he has for Ling Buyi as one of his own children. He's the funniest and easy going emperor I've watched in these series.

Not Zisheng rising up from the dead when the Emperor was talking about Shaoshang. The emperor of this series was quite likeable - I would love several series that evolves around this world, like how the emperor came to power, or the previous rulers. What would be interesting is a show around the Huo and Cheng families.

One reason why this drama will always have a specific place in my heart is the way consort yue chased the emperor.🤣🤣🤣 hey the almighty king is chased out.and that quick recovery of ling buyi 🤦🤦🤦
And the mutual respect and affection between the empress and the consort, that's a first for me in cdrama. He married the empress as a duty and married the consort for love. The empress knows they love each other and doesn't try to get inbetween them, the consort appreciates and defend the empress when needed because her father supported the emperor and doesn't try to upstage her. And the emperor tries his best to not show too much favouritism between them even though he love the consort.
The empress confessed that she envied the two because they were always affectionate, but its not the affection she want from the emperor, she want to experience the life of a happy couple like them which they understand and actually feel guilty.
I just love their chemistry so much🤧

@@wickedwitch7456 Consort Yue was actually his legal wife before he was the Emperor. He wrote a famous poem about marrying her. Then he had to marry the Empress out of duty and had to demote the legal wife to Consort, but Yue was his true love from before.

I'm saving this for when I need a good laugh and a good cry... Ling Buyi, Shaoshang, his Majesty did such great beautiful and amazing jobs in this drama. Hope they won several awards. It makes me sad also for her Majesty for she never experienced the love his Majesty shares with concubine Heng... that too was heartbreaking

I’ve watched many dramas since I was a kid but never once have I liked any of those emperors in those dramas, they always made me really annoyed or pissed off and hate them with a passion, they were either too scheming, don’t care for anyone but themselves, selfish, or they only focus and care about their scheming white lotus consort/concubine and only blindly listen to those women.
This emperor is the first emperor I’ve ever liked, I already loved this drama in the first place not only cause of how good and addicting it was to watch but also cause of the 2 main cast, and with how great & funny the emperor was in this drama, it made me loved this drama even more.
The love for his nephew (like his own son, General Lin) is what keeps him up at night. Agree, he is my favorite Emperor in all C-dramas ❤️.
