    As someone who wants to become a smith in the future, and as someone who loves working with copper (favorite metal) I will happily help this vid get more attention.

    Super cool piece of steel! Love the Damascus and how the copper comes through on the fullers. Excellent 👌

    This was a really great video.
    I'm reminded of the George Sawyer Mokume Gane rings we used to sell.
    Bloody stunning work...

    The billet setup is awesome.. I like the look but I’m really resistant to the milling in the bevels lol! I guess the end result is the only thing that matters 😂👍🏻👍🏻

    this is awesome, haven't seen anyone on the tube make a Damascus with copper and 2 types of steel, the pattern is quite unique and very pleasing.
    but have you ever tried Wootz/crucible steel in a billet before or would that be impossible to forge-weld?

    How did you forge weld the two pieces of 1095 in the center without melting the copper?

  • @Spencerbane

    Great looking knife. Copper gets a little to close to the edge for my liking but it looks fantastic.

    how much would you charge for a viking single sided axe head?

    Looks nice . Why is it called Damascus? Do not even see where this could be called pattern welded steel as in contains layers of copper. Maybe there needs to be a new designation. Or could plywood be considered Damascus because it is made in layers?

  • @loweel2897

    Copper melting point is 1084.62 °C, iron is 1538 °C, so at the temperature you forge is warm forging, 750-950 °C. The very issue is, copper becomes darker and harder at this temperature...not sure if it changes volume.

    I want to say first this is a great subject and you did a really nice job making this knife. I would encourage you to pick up the pace a little in the flow of the video, the first 5 mins were a little tough to watch. Overall, nice job.

  • @TLBxGoldenAxe
    @TLBxGoldenAxe 2 года назад +1

    This looks amazing. I'm puzzled tho.. When u stack for welding process, do u then flip it so layers facing up n flatten from that end to see the waves of copper, or just stretch from how stacked. Sry if don't make sense

    Nice looking piece but felt I was cheated out of the actual “making” of the knife.

    I feel like "CNC cut damascus billet" would be more accurate

    • @daltiejul
      @daltiejul 2 года назад

      Ya a little misleading and inaccurate. I literally look for forging and smelting I like seeing that whole process. Still a nice knife.

    There is 0 knife forging here... you forged a billet then a machine did all the hard part for you... great product but dont fool yourself about the "knife forging"
