This song was a HUGE hit worldwide. Made Lynn Anderson a superstar. Wish we could have seen her actually singing it in your reaction video. She was beautiful.

AJ summed up the message of the song perfectly. She’s absolutely keeping it real! She’s saying hey - it will be great but I’m not perfect and neither are you - there will be bad times too. The hope is that we get through the good and the bad.

This was my parents favorite song. We use to hear it on our radio everytime coming back from our fishing trip. That song and stopping at the Jack in the box was our thing after the fishing trip. It was released in 1970.

Lynn Anderson has many great hits. Never seen anyone react to her beyond Rose Garden.
    Other songs you should ck out;
    "Fool me,"
    "Listen to a country song,"
"Stay there til l get there,"
    "Sing about love,"
    "All the kings horses,"
    "I'm gonna write a song,"
"Smile for me," & so many more.
Lynns mom Liz Anderson was a singer/songwriter.
Lynn was on "the Lawrence Welk Show" a lot early on in her career. I didn't watch that show because my family loved watching the Hee Haw show! Miss those days.

Hey Asia and BJ, an old boomer here (born in 1949). I watch your channel a lot and because I see you did this song today, I'm hoping you read the comments because I'm coming at you from WAY OUT from left field on this one as it has NOTHING to do with Rose Garden. You need to check out some real old school rock & roll with the DEEETROIT sound before Motown arrived. I'm talking about Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. Try Devil in a Blue Dress/Good Golly Miss Molly, or Sock it to Me Baby, or CC Ryder/Jenny take a Ride. These songs came out in the mid 1960s and they're only about 3 minutes long due radio air play restrictions from back in the day. You'll love this stuff. Mitch is still performing last I heard. Peace and Love.

Hey BJ & Asia so I know the song! Googled for info, from 1970. I was about 6 yrs. old but I remember singing the catch line "I beg your pardon...etc.) while listening to my dad's radio he had set up on the kitchen table. haha . As I mentioned in the past I literally grew up on these vintage hits. A little American girl (of Mexican descent) sitting in the kitchen in Los Angeles, CA tuning the radio while eating my corn flakes or whatever my mom set up for me. Crossover Country hit.

Another Joe South gem, made famous by others... "Joe South (born Joseph Alfred Souter; February 28, 1940 - September 5, 2012) was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. Best known for his songwriting, South won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1970 for "Games People Play" and was again nominated for the award in 1972 for "Rose Garden". - Games People Play and Don't it Make You Wana Go Home" are my faves....

I love Lynn's version...her voice is wonderful....but, growing up i always thought this is written for a man. I bought Joe South greatest hits and luv his recording just as much. Talented singer/songwriter that more people need to discover.

@@danielzerbe8567 Listening to the lyrics, I have to agree that it's more suited to a man. Apart from Joe South, several other artistes recorded it before Lynn Anderson, but she got the catchy arrangement that clicked with the public

Great sentiment to put in a song.....find a partner that understands life can be hard and real problems may be coming that require commitment and dedication to a marriage and family. Whether its health, or loss of income or natural disaster. You can't just put your tail between your legs and run.....man up....or woman up. Great song and great message.

    Another Joe South Gem.....
    Games People Play - 1968
    Joe South
"Woah, the games people play now
Every night and every day now
Never meanin' what they say now
    Never sayin' what they mean
    [Verse 2]
While they wile away the hours
    In their ivory towers
'Til they're covered up with flowers
In the back of a black limousine
    Woah
    [Chorus]
    La-da-da, da-da-da, da-da
    La-da-da, da-da da, da-dee
    Talkin' 'bout you and me
And the games people play now
    [Verse 3]
Will we make one another cry
Break a heart then we say goodbye
Cross our hearts and we hope to die
That the other was to blame
    Woah
    [Verse 4]
But neither one will ever give in
So, we gaze at an eight by ten
Thinkin' 'bout the things that might have been
And it's a dirty rotten shame
    Woah-ah
    [Chorus]
    La-da-da, da-da-da, da-da
    La-da-da, da-da-da, da-dee
    Talkin' 'bout you and me
And the games people play now
    [Bridge]
    Oh, yes
    Oh, alright
    Oh, yes
    C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon
    Woah, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
    [Verse 5]
    Now, look here
    People walkin' up to you
    Singin' glory hallelujah, ha-ha
And they try and to sock it to you
In the name of the Lord
    [Verse 6]
They're gonna teach you how to meditate
Read your horoscope, cheat your fate
And furthermore to hell with hate
    Come on, get on board
    Woah
    [Chorus]
    La-da-da, da-da-da, da-da
    La-da-da, da-da da, da-dee
    Talkin' 'bout you and me
    And the games people play
    [Verse 7]
    Now, wait a minute
Look around tell me what you see?
What's happenin' to you and me?
    God grant me the serenity
To just remember who I am
    Woah
    [Verse 8]
'Cause you've given up your sanity
For your pride and your vanity
    Turn you back on humanity
Oh, and you don't give a
    Da, da, da, da, da
    [Chorus]
    La-da-da, da-da-da, da-da
    La-da-da, da-da da, da-dee
I'll keep a-talkin' 'bout you and me, brother
And the games people play now, now
    [Outro]
    La-da-da, da-da-da, da-da
    La-da-da, da-da da, da-dee
Gonna talk 'bout you and me
Oh, and the games people play
I wonder can you come out and play?
Early in the mornin', woah yes
    Talkin' 'bout you and me
And the games people play now"
