Jamel. Been waiting for one of your sessions that is only a few minutes gone in case you see this straight off in the comments. "I'm trying to get people to see that we are our brother's keeper. Red, white, black, brown or yellow, rich or poor, we all have the blues." (B.B. King---1925----2015)
B.B. King changed the blues. After he hit everybody tried to sound like him and they still are. I met him at his club in Memphis. He was a class act and probably forgot more about music than most people will ever know. This is my favorite reaction vid of all time!! Got to love it!
Thumbs up before viewing! Jamal...PLEASE react to some Albert King! He did an In session with SRV too in 1983! Anything from "Born under a bad sign" from the "Velvet Bulldozer" as some called Albert King!
@@garykloetzel9491: Um, no. He was playing in a jook joint in a rural part of Oklahoma. The joint was lit by burning kerosene in a barrel. Two guys got into a fight over a woman, one of them managed to kick over the barrel, setting the place on fire. BB ran out, then ran back in to get his guitar. He later found out that the fight was over a woman named Lucille, so he named that guitar and subsequent others (including a Fender Telecaster) Lucille to remind himself not to do something so stupid again.
BB King has more emotion in his little finger than most guitarists have in their entire body. His story from very humble beginnings is a history of the blues in America. The 60s generation of rock guitar players loved him and he was finally the big success he always should have been. When I was a new guitar player my dad brought a BB King album home..."son, you need to listen to this"
Best vocals of BB and Bono going head to head and stretching their voices to the limits. I just love it when BB king sings like that.........BLUES ON STEROIDS!!
Saw BB King live in the summer of 2000 in Bonn, Germany. He had to play the entire concert sitting in a chair. The man was 75 years old back then and he still did around 300 gigs a year, touring all over the world. Legend!
We've always acknowledge the absolute kingdom of BB King's guitar playing. But I hadn't thought how timing is a magical thing. And silence is part of sound. God what an artist
I had a chance to meet BB at the State Theater in Ohio a long time ago. The artists today could learn something from him. Such a cool person. Actually willing to give me a lesson in how to play blues after finding out I was a new guitarist. That's something I'll never forget.

In 82 we saw BB perform this song live in Reno at a small club. No more than 10 feet from the stage. Absolutely amazing and something we will never forget. Loved it Jamal. Thanks and greetings from 🇨🇦
Saw him on I think his final tour...he stayed and talked to the audience for a while afterwards....a true gentleman and amazing performer for sure! Lucille (the guitar) was sounding fantastic as always :)
Even with diabetes and having to sit down, you could feel his love of the music and the fans. We may have the music but the musicians are either gone of dying and we should always remember the sacrifice and love.
B.B. King was my introduction to the blues, which is one of my favorite styles of music now. I remember in my late teens finding a copy of his album "His Best: The Electric B.B. King" (1968) at our local library. I ended up checking that album out of the library every few weeks. I probably owed them a copy for wear and tear. I now have quite a few of B.B.'s albums on LP and CD. I was also fortunate enough to see him in concert several times.
The phrasing and the dynamics of his playing, and then he comes in with that voice. He truly was the king. This is probably my favorite performance of this song
Had the pleasure of seeing him live shortly before his death, and even though you could tell he wasn’t well he gave his all. He made a point to individually introduce his band members, but was especially proud to introduce his nephew ( who was his bandleader ) and how proud he was that his nephew was the first college graduate in the family.
Hey Noah! My intro to Mr Albert King was "I Wanna get Funky". Woah bro'! That gave me some serious STANK FACE! Glad you're here and hope you're doing well!
He performed this song with the great Gary Moore - well worth looking out for it. Two performers showing respect for each other and enjoying every minute of it.
The end of that music video was legendary! I’m ashamed I’ve never heard this song before, thank you for introducing me to this masterpiece Jamel. Loved the reaction also, had a couple laughs from the things you said. Thank you for another perfect reaction 😊
Welcome to the Blues. Now, dig deep, young man. Muddy Waters Mannish Boy and Long Distance Call. Howling Wolf Red Rooster. John Lee Hooker Boom Boom Boom. Anything by Irma Thomas. From an old white guy from Mississippi
I had the great privilege of seeing BB King in concert in 2008, with special guest Etta James opening. Neither one of them was around very long after that show - BB was well into his 80s by then. I will never forget BB King coming to the stage and having a seat in that chair, and absolutely killing. After the first number, he said, "Yeah, I know what y'all are thinking - here's this old man that can't even stand up to play a show, legs no good, back no good, and no good, head probably ain't no good neither... And you'd be right." Then he spent the next two hours burning the house down from that chair.
Saw the great BB King some years ago and it was awesome. After the first song, they brought out his chair and he sat down saying, "You'll have to excuse me, but I'm 75 years old!" Nobody in the crowd minded. Whatever he needed in order to deliver was fine with us.
I was fortunate enough to see him perform twice during his Farewell Tour. Even when age had obviously been taking its toll and he couldn't be on stage that long, every second of it was magical. And one of the great things was: even when this was at quite a big venue (about 15.000 people), the volume wasn't that loud at all, much lower than with most concerts. Yet everyone was silent and just being enthralled by his music. Absolutely two of the greatest concert I've ever been.
When people mention the blues.....this is the man who instantly comes to mind! R.I.P. TO THE LEGEND B.B. KING. Thanks for being you Jamel, there's not many people who REALLY want to keep great music alive, but you surely do without a doubt! As always, Peace and love from Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A!
Riley B. King performing on Sonny Boy Williamson’s radio program KWEM in Memphis [1948], the" blooming bluesman" soon gained a following for his unique voice and the way he played his guitar, named "Lucille". For the young Riley King, this was an auspicious place to be heard. Williamson brought many of his musician friends from his former radio show "King Biscuit Time" to perform, including Robert Nighthawk, Elmore James, and Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup. His rising star resulted in a ten-minute show on the Memphis radio station WDIA that became B.B.’s show, the 'Sepia Swing Club'. It was as a guitarist and radio DJ that King adopted the nickname “Beale Street Blues Boy,” which shortened to “Blues Boy” and finally, B.B.
His music was used in the movie INTO THE NIGHT, starring Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Pfeiffer. Carl Perkins and David Bowie made appearances in the movie.
In case you haven't noticed, his very unique style of never singing and playing simultaneously. He sings a line, then describes that emotion with the guitar. That is the genius of the incomparable B.B. King! 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦
My favorite BB King song is "How Blue can you get" One line used to make me chuckle because I had a blended family of 7 kids, (oldest was 10). That never gets boring no matter how many times I watch it. My biggest regret is never seeing B.B. King live, especially in 2006 when he toured with Gary Moore. My two favourite guitarists together and I couldn't get a ticket. That note as he stood up, WOW! He makes it look so easy to play the blues while putting so much passion into his playing.
