Now this would be a fun topic for Anthony to get involved with. I could just see Anthony letting the F bombs fly all over the place about all the stuff that he hates.
Contrary to Brendon I actually enjoy videos criticising the bands we love, shitting on their worst albums, etc. It´s fun and informative, while calling them out for chasing trends. Most of the artists we love have a few dogs in their catalogue, depending on how extensive their output over the years has become. I don´t enjoy Maiden and Priest any less because I don´t like Demolition, Turbo, Virtual XI and The Final Frontier. They have plenty of releases that I will always love. Also, I love Brutal Planey by Alice Cooper. I have always enjoyed heavy metal Alice, beginning with his hair metal era, which was fun and colourful. His albums over the decades have great variety, strong songwriting, interesting and less interesting periods. It´s all enjoyable for what it is, an artist navigating through shifting trends and life as a whole. Thank you for yet another great video!
@@BrendonSnyder not trying to argue. It’s all subjective. I think it is their heaviest release, and it’s also my favorite. “Too High To Fly” is my all time favorite Dokken song. According to Don, it is basically another Don Dokken solo album with the band name on it. “Shadowlife” is George’s response to “Dysfunctional.” George is the main creative force on that one. I agree, it is their worst record.
@@smashmachine1144 Yes Don mentioned in a recent interview that he was so unhappy with Shadowlife that he wouldn't allow the classic Dokken logo to appear on it. He said it's the only Dokken album without the classic logo. Very interesting bit of trivia.
Belly To Belly is one of the best records of the 90s, it is such a beautiful album dude, but I guess this is totally subjective. Composition in there is just huge. I do agree with Brutal Planet being "forced", but still a great album imho. I loved Swine, but I get your point. Definitely agree with American Hardcore, never liked that one.
I would say Wildside self titled album. first one called 'Under the influence' was a awesome. love that sound. then they came out with the s/t album and it was nothing like the first. totally changed their sound. back in the day i would keep those bad albums in my collection, because i was a completist. but not anymore, if it sucks, it's out of my collection.
New Tattoo by Motley Crue is a killer album. I really liked it. I love Van Halen, but VH III does nothing for me, but I'll still keep it in my collection.
It's all in your head by Eve 6 is one I love that wasn't pushed by the label and didn't sell. Green Day's Trilogy and Father of All are hated but I love them. And perhaps the most hated is St. Anger. I was just getting into heavier music in 2003 and that was the first Metallica album I bought. That one and Garage Days are my favorite Metallica material.
Your out of your mind. Alice Cooper Brutal Planet is a great album. I'm a life long fan of Alice since Love It To Death came out. Yes there are some duds in his discography, but this is not one of them. It was a great show he put on with that tour to, playing most of the album.
I am Gonna tell you about some songs that People love, but not me I have tried but no 1. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin 2. Sold my Soul - Nazareth 3. Free Bird - Lynard Skynard 4. Mistreated - Deep Purple 5. You Fool No One - Deep Purple
Hello there I've been a Scorpions fan since 1997 since I've heard them first at the age of 11:) I was really surprised when I bought the cassette in 1999 but later I dug this album and I still enjoy it. Sure it's way too electronic sounding with lots of samples but yet in my opinion it works with the songs. At some point this album is more original than some of their recent ones where they just copied their 80s ideas IMHO Another album I like of this list is Brutal Planet. Sure it's sorta dark and heavy as for Alice but it's pretty cool imo P.S. The second Scorps song's name is is To be # 1
Dude your music library is insane. If I had a room that size and could get all of my stuff out and organized ,I would probably never want to leave my house.
Two albums that come to mind immediately for me besides some of the ones you mentioned are Voice of Reason by Harem Scarem and Change by Pink Cream 69.
Judas Priest Ram It Down..... I hated Turbo when I bought it on day one but have grown to appreciate it. To me Ram It Down has no redeemable qualities. Like you I have it to complete the JP Collection but it NEVER gets played!!!!
Out of all those I really only like the Alice Cooper album, I thought he did that style well and the Slayer which is a good one off cover album. As far as that Dokken album goes, from interviews I read with Don in the late 90s he said Shadowlife was mostly George's idea and they clashed over that direction. George was out of the band soon after, then he reformed Lynch Mob who put out the nu metal Smoke This album while Dokken at the time returned to a more traditional sound on the awesome Erase The Slate.
I've donated many cds that I never liked or just don't ever listen to anymore to Savers. Maybe someone else will like em for a cheap price.and now I have more room.
Another I'm guessing you may have a dislike for Brendon, would be Faster Pussycat's 2006 release "the power and the glory hole" A huge step into what I believe to be a very industrial metal sound. For me personally, I actually enjoy it but suspect I'm in the minority. The thing is (deep breath and ready for a bash..😬), I actually prefer it over their debut album!....I'll leave now...😆
I like that album too. Not as much as the debut but I still like it.... I thing why it works is that Taime is actually into that style of music so his heart is in it. Where other bands are forcing a style.
Some really interested choices, Brendon. I'm gonna check out some of those heavy albums as I like that stuff. For me it was polar opposite with bands that went from heavy to light or commercial sounding. First band comes to mind is, Linkin Park. Enjoyed their first two albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteora. But when they released, Minutes To Midnight, it was sign of change as their was less heavy songs and mostly light stuff. While that album I have warmed up to, but everything after that I refuse to listen to again. Next band, Disturbed, From their debut album, Believe to Asylum I enjoyed. Then they went on hiatus during the sudden boom of teen pop music which I really hated back in 2011, I'm so glad that genre of music is dead. Anyway, Disturbed comes back with, Immortalized and I was happy when they returned. But after that, their next two albums, Evolution and Divisive I couldn't get behind the hard rock sound as they ditch the heavy metal and nu metal sound that I liked better. Next band I enjoyed their early stuff, Muse from their debut album, Showbiz to The Resistance. But after that, the band members just jumped the shark for me when they went in some bizarre directions with, The 2nd Law and Drones. Then, they tried to make themselves sound like an 80s band with, Simulation Theory with corny music videos and wasn't thrilled with Matt doing songs of just him singing while playing a piano. Then their latest album, Will Of The People was the final nail in the coffin for me, they recorded their older songs but edited them along with slowing them down along with ripping off other bands just killed it for me. Last band that jumped the shark for me and hated the album was, Slipknot. I enjoyed their first two albums a lot, Slipknot and Iowa. However, I didn't like, Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses as I tried that album again and found it too light and commercial sounding in parts. But when they released, All Hope Is Gone they have gotten back into their nu/heavy metal roots. And I really liked 5 The Gray Chapter and We Are Not Your Kind, I was loving it. Then came their 7th album, The End, So Far, what the hell is this?! It's nothing but noise, some guitars, drums and other instruments playing in the background with, Corey Taylor sounding like a rabid animal and swearing. I didn't last long with that album as I skipped most of the songs till I was starting to get a headache then press the stop button and threw the album in the garbage. And I don't keep anything I don't like. I'll either sell it, drop it off at Value Village or if it pisses me off, I'll throw it in the garbage so nobody else has to suffer listening to some of these shitty albums.
I enjoy eye to eye more than unbreakable and face the heat…crazy world is the best from that era in my opinion, and after that the best is Rock Believer.
I think you’re going to find a lot of people disagreeing with you about Brutal Planet. In most circles, especially of Alice Cooper fans, it’s considered one of his best modern albums. The tour video for that album is spectacular, too.
Scorpions Eye 2 Eye is an hour long album so it would be more appreciated if they trimmed two or three pop songs. Great White Sail Away is a good acoustic album but it's a departure from their previous rock albums.
I agree with you with all them albums but I still have them in my collection two. And I remember getting excited when they came out then I got let down after I listen to them.
Oh my Brendon we got that Great White CD together and did the meet and greet together I agree I love the second disc with live covers of Led Zeppelin 🤘
Even Lita herself hated Wicked Wonderland. Her ex husbnd made that record. Read Lita’s book. She used to buy copies of Wicked Wonderland and throwem away in garbagecans. So I decided to throw my copy in the garbagecan too.
@@davej.meister5421 I know back then. But in hindsight I go back to her roots more, before the awful Sharon Osbourne machine and all the commercial shite /collabs etc. It's a major turn-off now and for me never really recovered (unless you can prove me wrong). It's interesting how Joan Jett and Lita went such different directions as well.
Also Rick Springfield released "Lose Myself" a new single and announced the early 2025 Big Hits "Greatest Hits volume 2" package which will include this new song and other "surprises" as its been said also that "Hits 2" package as he puts it and I agree 100% with, is from his albums from 1999's Karma through 2023's Automatic are his best albums in that time period, so this hits is really for die hard fans, the casual "I know Jessies Girl" fan is not going to be interested here, expect some surprise packaged releases from Rick's website thats something he has done many times with his later albums only making LTD editions available through his site.
Throughout the video you ask why each of these bands decided to go the directions they did? In the case of the 90s albums I think we know the answer. The door was abruptly closed on glam metal, old school rock and anything with a blues swagger. These acts had two choices, re-invent themselves or go on hiatus. It was damn near 2010 before before these bands were let back in the party so to speak.
Yes of course…but there were plenty of bands who didn’t jump on the band wagon and didn’t change their sound so that’s why I question why these bands felt they had to. Granted some of them wanted to, others always chased trends. But others felt forced into it and that makes it all the more strange.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like their decisions but I understand the desperation behind them. As a person that wasn't all together happy with the direction the music industry took in the 90s there are probably 3 profound events or moments that form my view on this matter. The first one, I know taste is subjective, but I think AC/DC's Big Guns is far superior to Thunderstruck but which one do we hear at sporting events today. The second event was while walking downtown Sault Ste. Marie in 1995. We passed by a bar that maybe sat 50 people. "Oh wow," I said after reading a sign on the window, "I guess there's another band called Winger." "Uh, no," my cousin corrected me, "That's the real Winger." Third event was buying Tom Petty's Echo in the late 90s. He was huge all the way up to 1994 with Wall Flower. But Echo, which I'll have to revisit again, had no cultural impact whatsoever. There was a real changing of the guard. If it wasn't pop punk, post grunge or new metal you were out.
Several interviews with Don Dokken where he claims George insisted on doing the grunge sound on Shadowlife and he simply went along with what the other guys wanted to do. I find it a little hard to believe that Don simply went along given how much the Dokken brand and music Don says are his baby. Kinda like the spin he puts on the album was that he hated it from day one but didn’t have a choice in the matter.
I don’t buy it either. I believe that George wanted to do it and may have been the driving force behind it. But you don’t simply just go along with it if you don’t like it especially when the band is your name. I think it’s just convenient for him to say now after the fact making it easy for him to distance himself from it. Sorry Don…your name is on the album!
Eye II Eye was the end of a bad run for Scorpions. Face the Heat is patchy, but has some killer songs like Alien Nation, then Pure Instinct was really weak... Eye II Eye was the icing on the cake, the worst of the lot. Thank goodness they returned to form (or something like it) on the subsequent albums.
I like a lot of these albums. Generation Swine sounded like it did because all of those songs were mostly written before they decided to bring back Vince. Money and selfishness would not allow the band time to rewrite an album for Vince. Plus, the band still hated Vince when he came back so they just rolled with what they have. I will still say Generation Swine was miles better than New Tattoo.
Don had said that Shadowlife is all George, he didn't want to go that direction so he didn't write for it. I have it in my collection as a bonus disc with their acoustic live album, so the completist in me is satisfied but is doesn't take up extra space in my collection!
Your right to be no 1 is bad, but i do really like this album, skywriter, 10 light years away, yellow butterfly all great songs, and the song Sail Away is my personal fave GW song,
Club Ninja gets too much hate. The best songs on that album are the best BÖC ever made. I had one of the the best moments in my life in 2016, when at a BÖC concert here in Finland, Eric said: This one's for the hard core fans, from the Club Ninja album: Perfect Water. I lost my mind immediately. Incredibly beautiful song, love it.
From Generation Swine are the last great Mötley songs: Anybody Out There?, Let Us Prey, Rocketship, A Rat Like Me with excellent snarling Neil vocals. My favorite Crüe albums are Theatre of Pain and MC '94.
Maybe a couple of odd choices but the Moody Blues Octave took me forever to find and when I got it I was really let down. And BOC's Agents of Fortune was also a big let down. It has a couple of great songs and bunch of filler that doesn't hold up to any of their other albums in that era especially.
I still own "Load" & "Re -Load which in my opinion are worse than "St. Anger. "Van Halen 3 " I still own but I never feel like listening to it. I agree that "New Tatoo" is a damn good album. .....
Agreed with Metallica. Solid albums for what they are. Strongly disagree with “New Tattoo” which is piss-poor to my ears. Crue has sucked for a very long time now….three decades.
Also I don’t mind and I understand why some bands wanna change up there sound HOWEVER I like what they sounded like in the first place so lots of bands throughout the years I have just Lost ALL interest in!!!
I do have to agree with you the majority of these albums, I can understand why you have Dokkens Shadowlife on here, but for me, Dysfunctional is the worst album they have ever brought out. But how can you not like Brutal Planet, it is an awesome album. It really grabs your attention from the intro of the first song, and holds you by the throat since. But it did get me thinking, that albums like this, if you expect it to be anything like they've done previously or even sound the same, then it will disappoint you. I think sometimes we compare artists on their previous albums, and we all fall victim of that.
Brutal Planet and Dragontown are both phenomenal. I've never heard any Alice fan shit on either album. Personally I wish he would've stuck with that musical style instead.
@@Retro_Man_76agreed love em both. Then he switched up his style again with The Eyes of Alice Cooper. Still cool but a completely different sound than any other album he did IMO 😁
I heard you say you didn't like dysfunctional, I am a fan of that album I do know George and Jeff wanted to try grunge they pushed for that album Don wouldn't let the dokken lettering get put on that album he had the producer of Metallica ready to do their next album, the rest of the band wanted the producer of candlebox so that's what they got

Just remember that I suggested this video a while ago. Glad you decided to do this one. I'm sick of the love-fest!!
I've always liked the sound of title cut from Sail Away. Still holds quite well three decades later. Great summer song.
“Dysfunctional” is amazing. I’m surprised you don’t like it.
It’s really bland and has none of the character of the earlier albums. That’s just my feeling of it.
Agreed. Absolutely fantastic album. “Shadowlife” has two good ballads but the rest does indeed suck.
You’re the best Brendan!
I want part 2
Brutal Planet is a masterpiece. How could anyone hate it. Heavy as hell yet catchy.
I like this session,, I agree with a lot of stuff.
SAME!!!
It’s his opinion.
Belly To Belly is my favorite Warrant album ever. Yes it was different, but it was awesome.
I am Gonna tell you about some songs that People love, but not me I have tried but no
1. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
2. Sold my Soul - Nazareth
3. Free Bird - Lynard Skynard
4. Mistreated - Deep Purple
5. You Fool No One - Deep Purple
Every time I hear Stairway to heaven or Free bird, I want to jump in front of a moving train.
Parts of Stairway To Heaven are just stolen, no matter what the judge said. You can fool your granny, but you can't fool me.
Still love Stairway, not my fave Zep though...nothing else from this list.
Levee Breaks is the masterpiece of the ZOSO album IMO.
That's more of a personal issue. 😅 @@Wizzard777
Hello there
I've been a Scorpions fan since 1997 since I've heard them first at the age of 11:) I was really surprised when I bought the cassette in 1999 but later I dug this album and I still enjoy it. Sure it's way too electronic sounding with lots of samples but yet in my opinion it works with the songs. At some point this album is more original than some of their recent ones where they just copied their 80s ideas IMHO
Another album I like of this list is Brutal Planet. Sure it's sorta dark and heavy as for Alice but it's pretty cool imo
P.S. The second Scorps song's name is is To be # 1
I found this album better than Face The Heat and Crazy World, which were both huge upsets.
Love the GW album.. Anything Jack is all good with me❤❤❤
Anytime Jack sang it was great. I like his 2 solo albums and the recent Russell/Guns album too!
@@BrendonSnyder cool.. We have them all.. Seen GW in Bristol (UK).. Right at the front for Dessert Moon 🇬🇧❤️
Never heard none of these albums, a couple of tracks from Generation Swine and that's it. Afraid is a cool song with a nice video
I've donated many cds that I never liked or just don't ever listen to anymore to Savers. Maybe someone else will like em for a cheap price.and now I have more room.
So theraputic to do that, love to do it every now and again
Another I'm guessing you may have a dislike for Brendon, would be Faster Pussycat's 2006 release "the power and the glory hole"
A huge step into what I believe to be a very industrial metal sound.
I used to play in an Alice Cooper tribute band and playing Pick Up The Bones was always a highlight for me. 😁🤘
But when they released, Minutes To Midnight, it was sign of change as their was less heavy
songs and mostly light stuff.
That’s ok. Everyone is entitled to their opinion 👍
"The R*tist 4*merly Known as Dangerous Toys" was a real letdown for me. There are only a couple of songs I can listen to.
Man, St Anger by Metallica... It's just one long monotone song after another... I've tried and tried to love it but I just can't.
trash it
Warlock is an awesome band
Take all them albums to the second hand store brendon get rid all crap 😂🤟
Oh my Brendon we got that Great White CD together and did the meet and greet together I agree I love the second disc with live covers of Led Zeppelin 🤘
Even Lita herself hated Wicked Wonderland. Her ex husbnd made that record. Read Lita’s book. She used to buy copies of Wicked Wonderland and throwem away in garbagecans. So I decided to throw my copy in the garbagecan too.
Early Lita is where it's at, before the dreadful 'Lita' album and what was to follow...
@@seekah1 Lita is the album that really got me into Lita's music. Great AOR/melodic hard rock.
"Oh wow," I said after reading a sign on the window, "I guess there's another band called Winger."
"Uh, no," my cousin corrected me, "That's the real Winger."
Third event was buying Tom Petty's Echo in the late 90s.
As others have said Alice and Great White are great as for the others i agree totally
Now this is great.
Belly to Belly was just….senseless. That’s their Elder, the sound of a rudderless ship.
Challenge... try to do another video, showing the best album from the same bands.
These two videos have already been made as Best and Worst Albums From The Biggest Bands 👍
Brutal Planet is very popular amongst hardcore Alice fans. The Brutal Planet tour was great.
nope , if I dont dig it , not going into my collection , more money , more room to discover and get things I actually like ..,
It's kind of a relief actually
It’s so disappointing when bands chase trends. They always lose me when they do.
Fortunately the scorps rebounded from eye to eye with unbreakable
Yeah but then they backtracked to Humanity Hour 1 which I didn’t care for at all either.
Hi Brendon..wow that tee.. where do you get it from? Eye 2 Eye is blasphemy..love Scorps but will never buy it.
With Lynch Mob…wasn’t there also a Rap band under that name? That could be why George’s band suddenly had “The” in front of their name.
Good call with Agents, well overrated but of course has the huge hit so...
Brendan, did you take your blood pressure after you finished with this video? Imagine it was high.
lol
Great video!
Agree with you on Sail Away and New Tattoo. One good, the other, not so much.
I like the Warrant album. It’s not “Dog Eat Dog, but “Belly To Belly” is good for what it is.
Brutal Planet is great. Undisputed Attitude is also awesome.
I actually really like the Great White album.
I didn't mind Undisputed Attitude, it was kinda fun to get away from the usual formula for a while. I still break it out from time to time.
Nelson Had That and That Motley both Gone lol Shame my Mom Who pasted a Long time ago Nelson because of who there father is she liked them so with the Music Gap between us it was so cool to have my mom into a band I liked but after the First Nelson Album was the best and Only One of there’s I still have and listen to quite often!
Like a bad trainwreck where you just have to look, I had to go out and listen to that Scorpions song just to hear the awful keyboards!
