Terezi associates her colours with food flavours.
Her favourite flavour is candy, and Karkat's colour is, according to her, candy red. While Aradia is also red-blooded, Terezi says she has more of a raspberry flavour, which is nice, but not her favourite.
And plus, I guess it fit more because she's his matesprit and stuff.
