I watched a video of a young couple that have a farm in Alaska and at the end of winter when the snow thawed their underground store room flooded and fell in, the water was right up to ground level. So please be aware of that because I couldn’t believe how much water was in the ground and how soft the ground became.
I've watched many of these channels the there is one thing that never ceases to astound me: little to no real locking mechanism on the doors. If one of these were mine, there would be a much stouter door with an outside lock, and on the inside, the door would have strong wooden beam going across it held in steel brackets.
My guess from watching their aerial views there is no one around for hundreds of miles ,so there is no need to lock the door. Plus seriously what is left in any of buildings,beside the crude furniture they built
I'd be more worried about bears. I don't know if this is bear country but that little latch would be nothing to one of our American black bears, let alone a grizzly.
Where was his truck to bring all the tools, A chain saw, 3 pieces of stove pipe that didn't have a bend in it, the bread that wasn't smashed in his pack, the hack saw, and what ever he put in the floor that wasn't smashed. And if he did carry the pack that would be way to heavy to walk that far.
He sleeps outside still. And build his cabin in the woods. With or without truck. I wish more people would reconnect to nature in their way. Whatever that is. It's fine man. His thing

I watch them also. I think the water table was just too high for them. Hopefully this ends better
Also they built during the dry season so they misjudged the water table. Was really sorry to see all of their hard work went to waste
it's why in places with a high water table you don't dig. You build at ground level then pile earth over it for mass and insulation.
