- Oats are grains like wheat and rice and are grown across India and Pakistan.
There are 3 types of oats.its Medical Name is average saliva and in urdu and hindi we call it Jayee.
First type is called steel cut and its prepared after removing grass or covering from it which an be used as animal fodder and the remaining oats undergoes cutting with steel blades and its a least processed form and is used to make oatmeals.
Then this oat can be rolled under pressure using machines and is softer one and is called rolled oats.its moderately processed and being ofter can be used to make smoothies as well as oatmeal.
Last type is called instant oat as these are most processed precooked along with some ingredients and preservatives. These are Easiest to cook once bought in packages.
There are following 5 benefits of using oats.
1=Beta Glucan Fiber.
Oats are rich in beta glucan fiber which is water soluble and once eaten makes gel with water in stomach and that reduces hunger,constipation and improves gut health and also helps in better management of cholesterol and sugar.
2=Rich source of nutrition
.has fiber,iron,protein,zinc and vitamins.
Each 30 grams of oats has protein 4 grams,fats 2 grams,fibers 3 grams Carbohydrates 18 grams and calories 112.
3=Gluten Free
Oats are free of gluten protein Unlike rice and wheat so these are a good grain option for those people who are allergic to gluten.
4=Resistant Starch.
Oats contain resistant starch which interact with our gut bacteria to form small chain fatty acids which help us have better gut health and also help growth of good bacteria.
5=Better Sleep
Because oats contain vitamin B6 and tryptophan which increase production of melatonin in our body and melatonin helps us have sound sleep.
