- Former India captain Sourav Ganguly strongly believes that his successor Rahul Dravid had no role in then-coach Greg Chappell's decision to evict the left-handed batsman out of the Indian cricket team. The infamous Ganguly-Chappell dispute started in late 2005 and resulted in the removal of Ganguly as captain. Then vice-captain Dravid replaced Ganguly as India skipper in November 2005.

Actually..Dravid was the most gutsy player! He accepted any role offered to him; may it be wicket keeping, standing in slips or covers, batting at no. 3, 4 or 5 or even sometimes open the innings when required. Off the field, he always followed decisions of the coach as per the rules of the game and also, he was a sensitive captain. Ganguly himself had confessed (during Dravid's retirement speech)about Dravid's role in team building when Ganguly was captaining the side.

Not true at all... Dada's contribution was important but still dhoni did it his way.. Else india would have won 2007wc.. Dhoni made his own team.. Bringing Gambhir, Virat, Sreesanth, Raina, Yusuf Pathan.. And made yuvi to bowl... These were important contributions... Dada's contribution were Yuvi (batsman), Harbhajan, Zaheer, Nehra... So wc was a team effort dada deserves credit n so does dhoni the way he handled seniors n juniors and his street smart mind while fielding.
People don't realize that the Indian teams we see in the future after he was kicked out of the team, all of those teams and players owe a lot to him. It's sad how he was treated.
And even now, changing the pitch of Eden gardens to make it more pace friendly and making sure that all round development of players happens.

They couldn't have. Dravid had stopped Dada from walking away after Chapell had fought with him and tried taking away the captaincy. Dravid continuously got Dada back in the test team in 2006 even though he was being pressured. Dada himself was under stress and wasn't performing as well. It is easy to blame them but they had fought. All players were under immense mental pressure. Chapell was very controlling. The newer players like MS used to steer away from him, half the team openly detested him, and everyone hated playing in that team. It is so easy to blame Dravid for the damage Chapell caused. Why tf was a coach interfering in team selection like that
