Reading the comments, it is not isolated to this camera, or even the GFX range sadly. It’s impossible to say one system is sharper - depends on the specific lenses used. I would say the reduced vibration, and amazing ibis, make it easy to get crisp images with the x2d.

Matt, in your videos you keep saying that the gfx 100 ii has “the same sensor” as the X2D and the 100/s. Please read better the Fuji presentation: it’s a BRAND NEW SENSOR, although with the same pixel count!!!
@@simonomis5246 Well here you find what Fujifilm writes in own homepage: "GFX100 II brings a new 102-megapixel sensor “GFX 102MP CMOS II HS” with a readout speed that is about two times faster than GFX100S. Combined with X-Processor 5, GFX100 II is able to achieve a high continuous frame rate of up to 8fps, surgically accurate AF, and advanced video features that have never before existed in any previous GFX System or X Series camera." So as you see it's not just a new processor, but also a NEW SENSOR. Unless, of course, Fujifilm is lying (which I don't believe).
You’ll note they do not say BRAND new. It’s like keeping the engine etc, changing the gearbox, and saying it’s a new drivetrain… kind of, but not really.
Yep, you got a dud. Have been using both cameras in this video for months, and have never experienced the issues with the Fuji you had. Also, when doing a comparison like this, I think it would be more helpful if you used the same settings and focal length. For example, both have a 120mm macro lens.
The face is only at 2:13 it's such a beautiful picture, same for the face only rest. The image quality of the cameras are amazing. Fuji needs to fix the freezes, even more so that turning off the machine does not work either. Hasselblad, on the other hand, has to improve the AF performance, and where is the 90mm ? 😂Build quality: the Hasseblad is a work of Art.
Would be good to start thinking about of the box here, Matt. The subject matter for these test shoots is just way too cringey and cliche. Two women -- one naked with rose petals covering her privates and another pole dancing? Not asking you to be a groundbreaking here... but something other than the lowest possible hanging fruit from a male photographer would be nice.
Why are the file sizes different. File B0008691 is 93MP and file DSC0108 is 66.8MP??? I own a GFX 100 II and the file dimensions are 11648 x8736 = 102MP.
With Fujifilm GFX 100 II you use strong continuous studio light and your speed in going to be fine. The major disadvantage that I am not able to ignore on the Hasselblad''s side is: no Capture One support, therefore the Hasselblad will not be a considerable option for me.
@@mattgranger 5-10 years ago you would have been right. continuous studio light has gotten much better though. Many pros use it exclusively now, because it has many advantages over flash. Many use a combination of continuous light and reflectors.
Good comparison. I have owned Hasselblad cameras for over 10 years. Originally the H series and then shifted to the X almost as soon as they came out. I have the X1D, X1Dii and the X2D. Obviously, Hasselblad has made significant progress as they have progressed through the models but one annoying facet of all 3 of the X series cameras is when shooting in portrait mode on a tripod. The cameras often just flake out: stop working, screen goes black but camera still fires, throws a lens error or variety of other issues. When this happens it obviously forces you to stop what you're doing and spend time getting the camera running again. I have sent issue after issue to Hasselblad but they just don't seem to care - maybe it's the DJI influence. Wondering if you have experienced this issue. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Hasselblad cameras in spite of the issues - nothing compares!
They don't seem to be interested. Considering this is consistent across all 3 models there is something wrong. I think, after experiencing these problems, it is related to the case. It's machined out of aluminum which is not the strongest metal and I think they experience some slight warping which puts a circuit card or connector into stress. I owned a tech company for many years and this sort of issue was pretty common if you didn't design/test for it.
Hi Mate, I am still curious to know what response you have had. Seeing I have never heard of this issue from any user before, yet you had it on all 3 models, either it is extremely statistically rare case that you got three lemons, or perhaps it is some specific combination of elements that are somehow unique to your shooting process. (I dont say that to diminish your experience or discount it at all. But I get a LOT of feedback from users about errors. So being this is the first I am hearing of it, and its 3 cameras from one user, it is unusual).
How often do you shoot your X2D? I use mine a lot and it doesn't happen all the time, just when you really need a working camera. Then you have to stop, disconnect the lens or cycle power and go at it again. It actually happened to me yesterday while shooting a portrait (in portrait orientation on a tripod) and the screen blacked out and then once I got the screen back on it started throwing lens errors. Look I'm not bad mouthing the camera. I LOVE my X2D and its predecessors but these things occur with much higher frequency than any of my other cameras. Hasselblad makes a big deal out of "Handmade". I have had a lot of experience fabricating electronics and give me a robot every day (and twice on Sunday). Robots a extremely accurate, never have a bad day and do exactly what they are told to do. I understand that Hasselblad probably isn't big enough to afford robotic assemble lines which means they have to do a lot more QA and testing.
I had the 100 and the 100s - both would freeze and lock up from time to time (not as often as you experienced but occasionally enough. I just learnt to remove the battery). I had 2 100 and 1 100s (all 3 would do it).
It did. I also too have the X2d now and played around a bit with the X1D and X1D II. Its my first Hassy and I do very much enjoy it. To me its the GFX 50R and 100 in one. Where when I had the 100, also had the 50R as the user shooting experience is very different btw the two. I do miss the AF from the GFX but I used to shoot with an Mamiya RZ and the X2D MF, large viewfinder, rear screen and the three focusing options (zoomed in, the arrow system (much like a split prism of the RZ, line it up, and my favorite - focus peaking) has me using manual focus again. Which has also meant that my process has slowed down and I'm really looking at the image I'm creating more while shooting - which is mainly portraits/fashion @@mattgranger
Hi I have GFX 100 and 50S. I had one lock up on GFX 100 with firmware 4.00 after I updated 4.22 (last year) never had lockup. Lock up happened to me with EVF tilt and performance mode on . But since then no lock up and its super stable. Probably people need to update their GFX

My GFX 100 II didn't had lock up yet, worth mention I don't use Performance mode as I feel it may feel lock ups. Sucks you had on yours. Thanks for the review!
Shame on Fuji. My 100s does lock up once in a while. Usually after low speed continuous burst. But sometimes it just does it without. It’s not that bad. But what you experienced is unacceptable.
1/250 sec is a perfect normal sync speed for a mechanical shutter. 1/320 for mechanical shutter on small chip is also a normal speed. If you want faster speeds use hs sync like elinchrom has. But for 95% of studio work 1/250 is fast enough.
I had to send in a 100s two times because of the electronics. The image quality is outstanding but the build quality isn't good vs. my Nikon equipment - not to speak about my old Hasselblad mechanics (I cannot compare it to the digital ones)
You realize that Granger tested a pre-production review copy, right? Serious reviewers mention that, but I guess you can't expect _too_ much in this case.
Which is the sole purpose of this video. To steer possible GFX buyers towards Hasselblad. Ive been using two 100s and now the 100II without even a single lockup in two years.

Parts are new. But the imaging component are the same. It’s only the parts affecting readout that are changed, not those recording the image.
You’ll note they do not say BRAND new.
It’s like keeping the engine etc, changing the gearbox, and saying it’s a new drivetrain… kind of, but not really.
They also call it large format 😂
Both my Xt4 and Xh2 lock up. Pretty frustrating…but I still love fuji…i call it FujiTude fuji attitude 😂🎉
Sorry to hear that. Careful, you may be accused of being a liar and biased for sharing your experience 😉
@@mattgranger Nah, you're legit, I trust your vids...keep 'em coming
Yep, you got a dud. Have been using both cameras in this video for months, and have never experienced the issues with the Fuji you had. Also, when doing a comparison like this, I think it would be more helpful if you used the same settings and focal length. For example, both have a 120mm macro lens.
I don’t have access to every lens. These were the closest I could get.
Both shoots requested by the models. Cheers though.
Continuous is not a substitute for full power flash. You’d burn the studio down haha 😂
@@mattgranger 5-10 years ago you would have been right. continuous studio light has gotten much better though. Many pros use it exclusively now, because it has many advantages over flash. Many use a combination of continuous light and reflectors.
I own 2 Fuji xh2 cameras and one locks up and the other is fine
That sucks!
Hey thanks for the feedback, I’ve never heard this before, certainly never experienced it. What response have you had from them?
All the time.
I had the 100 and the 100s - both would freeze and lock up from time to time (not as often as you experienced but occasionally enough. I just learnt to remove the battery). I had 2 100 and 1 100s (all 3 would do it).
…. That sucks
Hi thank for the review. As Fuji GFX owner since GFX 50S (I had GFX 100 and now GFX 100II), I only had freeze on GFX 100 with firmware 4.0 but with latest 5.10 no lock up.
My GFX100 need to format the SD card by Camera, then no more hang again
I always format cards in camera
1/250 sec is a perfect normal sync speed for a mechanical shutter. 1/320 for mechanical shutter on small chip is also a normal speed. If you want faster speeds use hs sync like elinchrom has. But for 95% of studio work 1/250 is fast enough.
Yep, but both these cameras will no doubt be used out of studio too
Love from Pakistan❤
I had to send in a 100s two times because of the electronics. The image quality is outstanding but the build quality isn't good vs. my Nikon equipment - not to speak about my old Hasselblad mechanics (I cannot compare it to the digital ones)
I also had lock ups with the gfx 100s
My GFX100 sometimes lost the date and time when I changed batteries, sent it back three times they couldnt fix it
My GFX100ii doesnt lock up at all, thats a horrible fault to have
Glad to hear that. Reading people’s comments, it seems random. Some users own two cameras, one freezes and the other doesn’t. 🤷
Nice❤
That's very disappointing that the GFX 100 II kept locking up. It makes me much more nervous about buying one.
You realize that Granger tested a pre-production review copy, right? Serious reviewers mention that, but I guess you can't expect _too_ much in this case.
@@el_fucko yeah, but tbh it happens once in a while with my xt-3, I hope they fixed that for the gfx that is now on the market
Which is the sole purpose of this video. To steer possible GFX buyers towards Hasselblad. Ive been using two 100s and now the 100II without even a single lockup in two years.
Why sometimes your comparison raw just are really bad? like no proper side by side, only one pic is half decent to compare others one just random and not to compare to other camera, not the first time seeing this
I guess I’m inconsistent and imperfect
@@mattgranger yep, but i think you just dont care
In this case I’m limited what samples I can share, they can’t include nudity.
@@mattgranger We dont need nudity we can always get that from other sites, but we just want proper comparison samples
@@ThomazMartinez You have to understand Matt is a RUclipsr who makes money on hits and not for telling the truth. This is not the first time his sample files are all over the place WRT settings and exposures. This makes any comparison invalid. And on top of that remember he is an X2D owner so there will be unconscious bias in his comparisons in favor of X2D.
(with Hong Kong accent) you want to pay less? huh? no pay no joy... !! remember if you no pay enough money, camera freeze huh? you must pay more money to get camera wok well!! Also FujiFilm no go to Moon, Hasselblad go!! This is why cost money!! what kind of a comment is this?? huh? you want free camera? then freeze multiple times! there is no free lunch - never!! Lemembel that!! Thank you for video Matt... very useful!! huh!! plus FujiFilm no sexy camera!! Hassy very very sexy!! My wife jealous!! This is why I don't have one..! But I want it... without hassy no beautiful naked model... this is why Fuji frozen (yogurt)! Always take out battery!! Always!
Lock up never happen to me after using sony tough 299\300Mbs.l.never
Great that those work for you. Great cards. Still about 20% the speed of cfxb.
@@mattgranger I know!
did this happen with the cf express cards?
Bought a GFX100II. Feel nice in the hand, good quality build. Turned it on...locked up. Nothing I did fixed it - it was basically a brick.Talking to Fuji and it's likely a defective lens mount. Back to B&H and will likely be getting the Hasselblad
Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear that!
@@mattgranger It was very disappointing, but who knows, maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Maybe the Hasselblad is the one.
Luckily Canon and Sony make reliable cameras and fantastic lenses so we don’t have to use these cameras to get fantastic results.
It's a shame about the fuji
Do you really need this high end cameras and test them in a mediocre test like this? What's the point? Just terrible
I need to stop watching video of cameras I will never aford to buy...
Requires you to sign up for his course before you can see the files... I will skip....his channel from now on.
You don’t have to join a course. But it does require an account. Good luck on your journey.
fuji can make only instax cameras. and even in that they fail. or example crated Instax SQUARE and put viewfinder in opposite place as all other brands !
Nah, Fuji makes some great cameras imo.
Hard to find a more biased „review“ comparison on RUclips. The files are useless. No mention of all the advantages you’ll get with GFX, like leagues better AF. And then continuously mentioning the „sync speed“. Yeah no shi*, leaf shutter lenses have better sync speed. Overall an incredibly biased video, that only seems to exist to throw dirt at the GFX.
You have to remember Matt owns an X2D. There is going to be unconscious bias whenever he compares X2D to any camera system. The supplied RAW files are worthless, as always.
@@yogeshverma6301 I have to give him credit for one thing though: he left my very critical comments untouched. Most other channels would have long deleted such critique. The video still is very biased, but at least he lets us say so.
@@nikolai_art Yes I agree, we have to give him credit for that.
Where are the women without tattoos?
Too dear x 2
I have the Fujifilm x100 ii, and never had a freeze on me. It must be a lousy copy you got
Assume so.
Fuji is junk. A camera at that level of photography that fails like that wants throwing in the bin.
That particular camera body had issues. Fuji isn’t a junk brand though.
