The truth is she went to a black university, belonged to a black sorority, and dated black men. The reason for this was that she was often treated by others as black, just like Tiger Woods, Barack Obama, etc.
As for relating to black Americans, you might be at least partially correct. Because of her abilities and success, she has lived a very different life than most black Americans. The same can be said for Donald Trump, he has lived a very different life than working-class Americans while claiming he understands them.
