Man now that I think it about I’m pretty sure Alan watts saved my life, couples years ago I was in bad place, but ever since I remember listening to Alan watts on those difficult nights I haven’t had a single suicidal thought. Anytime I have a bad day or fall back into my darkness I come back to this video and it helps keep me grounded, helps me move on and accept my situation to get passed it. Take care anyone reading 🤙
Same here. Was in one of the worst mindsets I've ever been in, and randomly got recommended a meditation video of his. Now I just want to hug everyone I see
I was born one year after his passing to the afterlife. It took me almost 50 years to learn to know about him. Alan Watts is a beacon of wisdom in both great depth and width. Listening 5 minutes to his lectures are much more nourishment for my soul than enduring decades of sermonising from the pious hypocrites in all churches and mosques together.
@@jalolokbla I agree. He has completely turned my world upside down, and opened my eyes. Now.. I am as astonished at existence, as he was. And im wondering, why arent everyone else astonished ? Well... I will get with it. I am getting with it. I have let go of the stone and it feels fucking great. If I ever loved a man, it is Alan Watts. I have such respect and admiration for him and I will be forever grateful.
I can't get enough of him :) sometimes I go to a park or a garden and just sit there with a cup of hot wine and listen to him and smile. It just makes me think about things from so different point. amazing.
Alan was my introduction to helping myself and thinking beyond the surface. You may not still be here but you live in all who have been lucky enough to to spend time listening to your lectures...
Alan is the only teacher I can call by first name. He really did change my entire perspective on life all from hearing one simple statement 10 years ago. "You are, something that the whole universe is doing in the same way that a wave, is something the whole ocean is doing"
@@ChristianHoyle There a video of his called Sudden Enlightenment that is very grounding if you listen in one go. You'll be laughing to yourself by the end of it
As a lay minister and spiritual man for over 45 years, I can honestly say there's an authoritative yet kind authenticity in his voice that causes your whole Being to resonate....
Tremendous. Thank you for doing an excellent job of keeping Alan Watts talks here in the modern era with these great video clips and some inspiring music. You do it very well with much thought and heart behind it. Very appreciated.
Im here with you brother @teronfelix5217 at 1:54 August 7, 2024.. not sure how long this session but ive been off and on since i discovered him.. and ill continue repeating.. hopefully able to turn other's on to this enlightening man as was i... ❤💯🙏🤙
Unbelievable. Each time I listen to it I find things to think about days and days in a row. ..."it's only, when you understand that it does not do a thing for you, that you let go and relax.."
Yeah try not to listen all at once, i take alan watts lectures and short videos like food. Bite, chew, digest. Listen, pause, reflect. 😊 listening to a full lecture you will likely forget what he said at the start or half way through the video. Plus you already know all this its within you alans just confirming your thoughts.
@ What does that even mean? What kind of God? Why does that matter?? Spirituality is far more than theism. He goes into this in great depth in many of his speeches.
@ He's talking about the inevitability of death and the importance of relaxing when contemplating the nature of death and dying. We're all going to die lol. Good religion teaches us how to die well and how to live in a way that brings honor to your life in the face of death. In other places Watts does talk about suicide in the context of the writings of Camus, who proposed that the greatest philosophical question is whether or not to commit suicide. And the question isn't some easily apparent no. Yet, these writings help those who might contemplate this question "to be or not to be" with the proper attitude and hopefully with enough contemplation on the beauty of life even in its absurdity to live life to the fullest.
@ For those of us who have rejected the theistic model, for numerous reasons, but also find the "fully automatic model" to be lacking, Watts provides a model of reality that is truly compelling, meaningful, and I think wonderful. Read through the comments on how well people feel about it and how its helped their depression, anxiety and so forth. If you hold tightly onto the theistic model then then this isn't going to do anything for you. He talks about the idea of God and its flaws many times elsewhere.
He makes an appearance in the movie 'Her'. I hope to see him become known to everybody one day or at the very least get as much recognition in history as the likes of Marcus Aurelius and others who's words have stood the test of time
Just keep in mind it's in all of us the way we should be and one day the knowledge of the true self will shatter your reality in a profound way never give up on this place no matter what hurt loss or empty emotions you may feel because you will find it
Go with the flow. Let go and your subconcious will follow and dictate your conscious reality. Be one with others, and don't think of yourself as what your ego defines you by. 🙏
Alan watts. Those 2 words. So frustrating to know what I’ve tripped on and to have his clarity again kick me at night. To sit stuck in poor life decision. I wish I’d met this man. I’d start with turning a handshake into a hug.

The contents of Alan's words is so inspiring and great, it doesn't actually need "enhancement" by such dramatic music. In fact, for me this kind of music is rather distraction and fishing for effect. Doing what we have done, despite the war etc, I would have no issue evolving from slime. The harder your beginnings, the more difficult it is. The more difficult it is, hopefully, the better it (we) become. I am fine with being slime that rose up from the oceans. Also, faith implies belief without knowing. I have faith only in our instincts to survive. But these instincts to survive tend to push into directions which are self-serving, but that is what makes life interesting, to me. Having these urges, these instincts, to self-preserve, but then the other side which would do anything to help another also survive, which is also instinct.

This man is not an ordinary man. To me, he is a Lighthouse, trying in his humorously simple way to make us see Truth as it is!
