Or do what you love... We forgot how to enjoy the process since we became conscious of our thought, and maybe that's why it can be somewhat difficult to relearn what we knew when we were like other animals...

+Slave2PaperWithInkOn You've missed the point. The message is not trying to tell you what you should do (be happy and ignore suffering in the world) but rather that you should love WHATEVER you do. "Dance each step of [your] way". Whichever way you walk on.

@Slave2PaperWithInkOn While I appreciate your spirit and your energy, the way you've communicated your message - CAPs and parentheticals and quotation marks, et cetera - unfortunately reminds me of the person shouting their truths on a street corner when there's an orchestral quartet playing to an otherwise attentive crowd. Or the overly-enthusiastic Jehovah's Witnesses who arrive on your doorstep just when you're about to give your baby a bath and just...won't...go...away. Take your pick. : )

You thinl to mutch about the negative aspects. Not everyone wants to be rich or have a goal since childhood to sell weapons. I bet even the arms dealers had a different dream of doing something else in life. Guess everyone should chase their own passion, even if it is on wall street or a truck driver.

Have been a student of Alan's for over 10 years along with other master thinkers. His zen way of seeing the world has helped me grow in many ways. At the point of my life now here in 2020 locked down due to a virus outbreak, and through many months leading up to today, I realized I was missing a true purpose in life which I thought I had. No my purpose was not pursuit of wealth or success or even happiness. To me my inner feelings told me my purpose was to make the most use of the creative power I was given, we were all given as human beings. That purpose served me for many years and it brought me happiness even in adversity but still I felt it was not enough. Now it finally clicked to me about his comparison to music. It's not even about being creative but it's about really savouring every note and every beat of your time in this song we call life. Thank you

it can correlate to the point of the video, life is about living, that's it, no need to search for a greater meaning that itself. Make the meaning in the living. Doing things with meaning. If it brings true meaning for you, it will probably give meaning to your surroundings as well, and society at large. JUST TO BE SEEN, life is about experiencing, JUST FOR THAT SAME PURPOSE.

When personified, Metanoia was depicted as a shadowy goddess, cloaked and sorrowful, who accompanied Kairos, the god of Opportunity, sowing regret and inspiring repentance for the "missed moment". This conventional portrayal continued through the Renaissance. "The elements of repentance, regret, reflection, and transformation are always present in the concept of metanoia to some degree, ..."

I don´t really agree with the point, that the analogy of life to a journey should be basically bad or useless, because if you really succeed to define goals and purposes in your life, they can be actually one of the best basics to live in harmony with yourself and the world around you, simply because you can live in peace and with the constant feeling that we are here to accomplish certain goals or create enduring things in art, science or humanity or maybe just to give life to a baby and be a mother or father. I really do believe that such a life would be at least as good and important as the view that life is merely a kind of adventure game or play without any particular destination, meaning or fulfilling substance..if life is really meaningless (to the individual self) then why live (or play) at all? Because then you could commit suicide right away, it wouldn`make any difference at all..why don´t look at us as loving creators than just as aimless entities, who are just trying to enjoy every single moment in a selfish kind of way..

    • @lSkullAssassinl

MrEmotional33 he never said life was a the journey was bad or useless, hes saying, like he says in another talk, dont go on living doing things you dont like so you can go on living to do more things you don't like. Life is a suppose to be this thing were you go on and do everything you like, and not to be spent miserably.

Yes, but if you are doing those things to please someone or to be seen being sucessefull or something like that you are just fooling yourself, thats the point of his words. He all have goals, Alan has goals, but you cant forget to be present, to be hear and enjoy the moment. If you are training, will be much more enjoyable if you are present on the moment
