- Thabana Ntlenyana (3,482m) is the highest peak in the Drakensberg Mountains and the highest point in Southern Africa. We climbed this from Mamokae village (about 6km from Sani Top) with a Basotho guide, George, on a glorious day in April 2012. Thank you, George, for sharing your beautiful country with us.
For more information on the Sani Pass and climbing Thabana Ntlenyana see our blog:

How nice! I've hiked in the Drakensberg before but never to the very top, something for the bucket list.
You should!
Hope you have a good time. If you are using a guide we recommend George who was arranged through Sani Top. Cost was 300 Rand. A great day out but remember the altitude will slow you down a bit.

How easy was it to organise a guide? Is it a day hike? I’ve just done Toubkal and done kili. I figure Thabana Ntlenyana has to be on my list now.
Easy to get a guide via the Sana Pass hotel
