Hypnotherapy has no therapeutic value beyond relaxation. It just isn't capable of what they tell you despite the apparent scientific basis... it just isn't what they say. CBT uses the theory (and it is theory that has been disproven many many times) that cognition plays a role in creation of fear response and recovery from fear disorder... it doesn't. That's fact not opinion. Talking about, focusing on and analysing fear, anxiety and associated symptoms will only give rise to 'practising' being anxious... what you practice, you get better at. In a brain and body that wants to forget to be anxious... as I am sure you agree, that's utterly stupid. There's science and there's commercially biased practices. Recovery is recovery and it relies on science not opinion, theory or payment of a person's mortgage. Depression is a clinical condition with a variety of causes... all of which are physiological. Depression requires specific medical intervention but also responds well to certain techniques which give rise to biological responses... these are not taught by psychology or medicine... but they exist. Anxiety and clinical depression are unrelated and cannot exist in comorbidity... unless you have two heads.
I have severe OCD, I have recently read online that OCD is a form of Psychosis, this is kind of worrying me now, I don’t logically see how that’s true if someone with OCD knows that there obsessions and compulsions are illogical and have insight into it...
Nate, OCD is when anxious focus becomes perpetuated by the risk assessment process within fear response and therefore anxiety (the disorder of fear)... the mind just glitches out on catastrophising activated by disorder.
So you’re telling me that at the height of your anxiety (I read your story as described in the linden method) you weren’t at all depressed? And that, even if you were, the two are still ‘completely unrelated’?
Yes Peter and that's not my assumption or interpretation, it's verifiable psychophysiological fact. You can't be in anxious hyper-vigilance and in complete inability to create positive emotional response simultaneously. They are polar opposite emotional and therefore neurological and chemical states.

Charles, are you saying CBT, hypnotherapy etc, don't work for anxiety or they just don't work at all? Do they work for depression?
