While 'Superunknown' was the album, that REALLY made Soundgarden a household name in the mainstream, I personally still feel 'Badmotorfinger' is their best album; in fact it might just be my favorite grunge album all together.. 🤔

Badmotorfinger is their best album in my opinion and a real classic. I also really like 'Louder Than Love', it was my first Soundgarden experience and the whole album blew my mind. Superunknown is fairly good, but a bit more tame and mainstream, it doesn't hit the spot for me like Badmotorfinger.

So many more great songs. Slaves and Bulldozers, Spoonman, My Wave, Superunknown, Pretty Noose, Burden in My Hand and Black Hole Sun. Their sound is so varied over the years. My Fav songs are Outshined, Spoonman, and Burden in My Hand. Superunknown is their most varied album. It is less heavy that Badmotorfinger. Spoonman and My Wave are great heavier songs on Superunknown. The last 2 choices would not have been my first picks for these 2 albums, but they are great songs. Fell on Black Days was a big hit single but softer. Black Hole Sun is one of the biggest rock songs of the 90s but not one of my favs. It was so popular that a lot of people couldn't even name another Soundgarden song. It is a shame as they have lots of great songs. Badmotorfinger is too heavy for the casual grunge fan. It is more hard rock.

Always nice to see Soundgarden getting some appreciation from a young'un. :)
Yes, JesusChristPose does tend to give the listener anxiety! LOL
BlowUpTheOutsideWorld swings between being a Beatles-being-introspective thing & the lads smashing out a thumping rock track. The whole "Down on the upside" album is easier to appreciate with more years on you - try it again a decade or two from now. ;)
If you're preferring the energy of the "Badmotorfinger" tracks, I should probabaly suggest you listen thru the "Louder Than Love" album from '89, & the full "Badmotorfinger" album. Even "Superunknown" from '94 is quite "grown -up" compared to LTL & Badmo.... altho it's widely accepted as their best work. Hope this helps. :)

I was checking out the list of classic 70's bands you reacted to and noticed you reacted to some Rainbow songs and was wondering if you've heard the song Death alley driver by Rainbow..? I'ts not Dio singing but this might be my favorite Rainbow song. I think you will have the greatest reaction and on the hip hop side if you've doven into J Dilla's stuff.. the man behind so many iconic artists sound. It's great to see another young person loving the history. I can remember when I discovered a lot of the artists you've reacted to and how much it influenced me and the music I've made it's cool watching someone show so much appreciation. Great energy! I still don't consider Soundgarden grunge at all. Same with AIC but it is what it is. Superunknown is an amazing album through and through.

The first Audioslave album was damn near perfect. I think you'll like any of the songs off that when you get to that part of Chris' catalog.

4th of July is very sludgy/doom so you'll probably love that song off of Superunknown. For Down On The Upside i'd say check out Pretty Noose & Burden In My Hand. For pre Badmotorfinger check out Beyond The Wheel. Also have you not listened to Black Hole Sun yet? It's thier most famous song.

Ultramega OK, Louder Than Love, Badmotorfinger, Superunknown, Down On The Upside, King Animal.
I'll put in my recommendation; Tighter & Tighter.

Jesus Christ Pose video was shown on the same day as Smells like teen spirit on European MTV. The next day I bought the Badmotorfinger album, and it's the hands down favorite Seattle grunge album since then. All tracks are top notch!

You really should delve into their earlier stuff some time. Some crazy cool shit.

In Soundgarden, the talent was clearly Chris Cornell... Matt Cameron (drums) joined Pearl Jam but none of the other members - Kim Thayil (guitar), Ben Shepherd (bass) or Hiro Yamamoto (original bassist) ... did anything outside of Soundgarden.
'Badmotorfinger' in 1991 was clearly a superior album to early Soundgarden records like 'Louder than Love'... 'Ultramega OK'... and the 90's decade was ready for a change of scene from the glam rock 80's to the grunge 90's... For some reason, Soundgarden took time to record and release their next album 'Superunknown' in 1994 but the timing was perfect. After the end of Nirvana... Pearl Jam disappearing from MTV ... and Alice in Chains going on hiatus... there was a huge void to fill and Soundgarden captured the moment... 'Superunknown' went to #1 and sold 6x platinum in the US w/ 6 video singles - 'Black hole Sun'... 'The day I tried to live' ... 'Spoonman' ... 'Fell on black days'... 'My wave'... and 'Superunknown'...
Some of my faves off the record were 'Let me drown'... 'Fresh tendrils' ... and the bonus track 'She likes surprises'...
Soundgarden's 1996 album 'Down on the upside' only sold platinum but was a solid offering like 'Superunknown'... the singles 'Pretty noose'... 'Burden in my hand'... as well as underrated songs like 'Ty Cobb'... 'Rhinosaur'... 'Boot camp'...
With Soungarden is disarray on the road and 90's grunge rock declining rapidly... the band unexpectedly broke up in early 1997.
They did reunite in 2012 and released their final album 'King Animal'... before Chris Cornell passed away in 2017.

Ben and Kim both had side projects of their own. Now Kim and Matt are in 3rd Secret with Krist from Nirvana. Saying they did nothing outside of Soundgarden is a stretch. They clearly did.

You could listen to some more alice in chains :)
I recommend the self titled album, it's really imersive and atmospheric!
Even their unplugged is worth a reaction, probably the best option imo
The mad season supergroup record is also beautfiul!
A mix of pearl jam, screaming trees and alice in chains, layne staley and mark lanegan(also in qorsa) in vocals 🤩
I would also love see your reaction to records like angel dust by faith no more and superunknown
