    First drive was a race to the airport through those tight roads, Jamie in the passenger seat, and Porsche waiting for us to arrive! GTS got us there, and what fun it was!! 😈 Can’t wait to drive it for an extended stint in the U.K. reckon a lightweight/manual car is an 80% GT3 touring…

      Since only a tiny % of 911 drivers ever track their cars it’s very important. A GT3 is absurd as a daily driver unlike a GTS. I’ve owned three 911 models and in the modern world you own a GTS as your daily driver and you rent any number of other cars including a GT3 RS at tracks all over the county. I don’t know if this has become as popular in Europe as it is in America but here you can have it all. In a straight line a GTS is faster especially in AWD model. This is as close to racing as most owners get. Again there is a reason why the best 911 introduced in the line up is always the last. It’s widely considered to be the most balanced 991 of them all.

      I live in California here in the US. I want to order one as well a couple of questions if you don't mind.
      1. Will dealership take orders based on your specs? Meaning I went to Porsche's website and the only other thing I want to add to the base model is the premium package.
      2. Are dealerships charging MSRP?
      3. How long is the delivery/wait time?
      Thanks for your help.

    • @davidkn
      @davidkn 3 года назад +2

      @@edmasoud2826 I am based in the UK, so not easy to answer really. You can create a spec on the configuration and it gives you a code you can then give to your dealer. We don’t have the concept of a dealer being able to charge over what the manufacturers recommended price is, that whole concept in the US sounds awful. I think if you order one now you are looking at may/June time next year? Will depend on what allocations the dealer has, they all get varying amounts, and will depend on whether you want coupe, convertible or targa too. Worth the wait though!

    Great video again! As an owner of a 991.1 GTS RWD, I was disappointed you missed my car. I had a 997 GTS and the 991.1 was a big step on. I my opinion after driving the 991.2 (turbo car) it lost some of the appeal my NA car has. Still feels quick against modern turbo cars but with all that sound. Just thought I’d share this without being negative about your great content.

    • @themartins5771
      @themartins5771 3 года назад +2

      The 997 GTS was a great car. Classic looks. The 991.1 PDK in white with the aero kit is a family mans GT3 (I need the back seats for the kids on occasions). The biggest thing over the 997 is the noise. So much more noise from the 991 and personally I prefer the looks. I would say the 991.1 has some old school but some new as well. Perfect. 128k as my spec for a 992 is so much money as well. One day maybe as I do think is a move on from the 991.2. 👍

      @@themartins5771 ah interesting. I haven’t driven any of them, however I kinda think that in the future the 997 and 991.1 will be loved more. The turbo models obviously won’t date as badly as current hybrid cars, but I feel the the NA 911s have this purity that will keep them in our hearts forever.

  • @amiller2121
    @amiller2121 3 года назад +1

    I am a bit confused about the lightweight package. On the Porsche site, you have an the individual option for "Lightweight and Noise Insulated Glass". Then when you look at the "Lightweight Package", which includes the "Lightweight and Noise Insulated Glass", it also includes "Reduced insulation/sound deadening". It seems those two features are at least partially canceling each other out (from a sound perspective)? Even though this review seems to indicate that the Reduced insulation/deadening makes the exhaust seem louder in the cabin.

    So, I have a question for everyone here. Do we all feel that Porsches are getting too expensive? I've owned 4 of them in my time and I've only purchased 1 brand new. I was considering a 992 model this year, but can't believe the base price on the S and GTS models. Also, are these supercars? Optioned up with normal equipment, they're in supercar price territory.

      @drzar8275 3 года назад +1

      Yes they are definitely starting to become too expensive especially when you consider all the options you have to get because not much comes standard compared to other cars.

      Although prices are in super car territory, at least for the GT3 and GT3RS, I would take one over a comparable Lamborghini or Ferrari. Drive them back to back against a F8 or Huracan Evo RWD, and I think you will come away with the same opinion-GT3 or RS all day, everyday!

      My 997 GTS was 65k, 991.1 was 95k and if I order a 992 GTS, 129k 😬😳. The official dealer will only offer me 50k for my 991.1. Is mine over a 992 worth near 80k???

    • @drzar8275
      @drzar8275 3 года назад

      @@themartins5771 here in the states a used. 991.1 GTS is worth about $130-150k. You should get another quote for your car. I don’t think the 992 is worth 80k more than yours.

      @@drzar8275 thanks for your reply. Agree totally and they will put it on the forecourt for 80k. Not sure if anyone else with a car that is above ‘book’ like say a GT3 has the same issue. Trade in value v price on the windscreen.

    I went 997 GTS manual and now current 991.2 GTS PDK. I dont get lightweight pack idea as it loses the GTS middle ground knocking on the door to closely of a GT3 and probably as quick in a straight line but with all the GT3 useability compromises. So I would have a old mans kitted GTS 2wd or just move to a GT3. Unlike the leap from 997 to 991 Im not feeling the 992 at the moment but maybe that will change. I will stick.

    I was unable to order a 992 GT3 with PCM delete. I was instructed that this was no longer an option. For both my 997 and 991, I was able to order the cars without this excess weight. Has anyone removed the PCM post purchase? Is there an aftermarket kit?
