In this video, you'll learn how we apply our warm/cold peel dtf (direct to film) transfers onto t-shirts. We'll go over the steps a few times so that you are able to learn through repetition. In general, you'll want to set your the temperature of your heat press to 300 degrees Fahrenheit, but if you're working with more heat sensitive materials like triblends or polyester, you may set the temperature to 275 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure to also check the pressure of your heat press (ex: dollar bill test: place a dollar on each corner, press and try to pull them out, adjust pressure to ensure they cannot be pulled out). We are currently delivery warm/cold peel transfers. The benefit to these transfers is that they are easier to peel and more forgiving with time. You'll be able work in phases (ex: press press press, peel peel peel, 2nd press 2nd press 2nd press). A 15x15" heat press will work, but a 16x20" is what we're using since sometimes we have orders that exceed 15". If you're printing on items that have raised parts to the garment such as hoodies, you'll want to get your hands on some heat press pillows. As a rule of thumb when heat pressing, you want to be able to press on a completely flat area if possible (ex: when pressing a t-shirt, make sure the collar is completely off of the press plate or platen). For hoodies where avoiding the bumps and lumps is unavoidable, you'll need to use a heat press pillow.

What printer do you use and paper because I see you don't mirror or flip the paper.
Should you see the fabric imprint in the dtf when finished pressing like you do when you press htv? Or should it be completely smooth without that fabric texture showing?
You should see the vertical fabric lines. This shows that you are using enough pressure.
How did you get the white print? Do you have a border around the letters to get it to print white?
DTF can print White Ink. Have you tried DTF Transfers before?
How long does it take for the print to cool on the shirt on the initial press?
for cold peeling, typically around 12-15s. If you have a good heat press with adequate pressure, you can peel sooner.

You don't "need" it but butcher paper works as a finishing sheet. You will typically get more of a matte finish using butcher.

Just to he sure when we get the dtf prints we place the colorful side of the image facing up? Or colorful side facing down towards the tshirt
The colorful printed side will face up. The white backing will be on the shirt.
What settings do you recommend for 100% polyester or dri fit?
Each company's print has different time and temps. for ours, we'd press at 275f for 7s. cold peel.
My paper sticks to the top of the press. When I pull the press up the design doesn’t fully go on and gets messed up. Any tips? I pressed at 300 for 7 sec

We put the powder on during the printing process, our customers do not need to do anything else except get a heat press and some garments to press

Hi. I have a question, what is the purpose of second press after you cold peel the transfer? Is doing the 2nd press really necessary? Thank you.
Some people do it, some people don't. Is it necessary? if you have a good heat press with heavy pressure, you might be able to get away with not doing the 2nd press. The ONLY way to know for sure is to do a wash test afterwards and see if there is an improvement. If the transfer wrinkles after the wash, then you don't have enough pressure

What pressure are you using on heat press?
40lb psi on the pneumatic or heavy pressure
What about washing? That’s where I’m having issues. It’s all wrinkled and peeling after washing it inside out in cold water and tumble low dry. Please help!

You’d have to ask someone who used Roland products as I’m not experienced with their equipment.

When it comes to the Bella canvas brand, what is the softest one?
Do you happen to know anybody (or company) that offers oversized DTG printing with no minimum? Anybody you would recommend?
We do not sorry. We stopped doing DTG 2 years ago.
Why dtf over dtg ?
