My Wife and I attended the race ...lots of action ..we like that you can walk the pits and paddock ...talk to the drivers..great for fans..and all track access..can't beat it.
Yes the access at IMSA races is awesome. At VIR we had a golfcart, driving all over the paddock, could walk right up to all the GT cars (no prototypes at that race). Hopefully people continue to behave themselves and we can keep doing this
Mazda finally found a way to make their car last the whole race which got them their first win. Now they just need to figure it out for the 24 hour races.
Words cannot express how happy I am for them. I've been routing for them since day one. I was doubtful at first but once Joest took over the program, I knew it was just a matter of when and not if. Although I will admit that it took longer than I expected for the Joest program to win. Hopefully there will be many more to come in the near future.
Underdogs fighting back, BoP actually working, a 'top class' that isn't a farce, beautiful cars, constant action, stewards not rigging a race result. WEC & F1) is this racing?
Love racing at The Glen.. but I don’t know enough about this type of racing to understand what’s going on 🤷♂️.. Looked fun though! Wish I were there!!
Would be nice of the full race was live instead of being shown hours after the finish and getting shortened into 3 hour time crunch that then got bump late cause the rain stopped in Illinois.
Showing a NASCAR practice over this awesome racing is a fucking joke. Get it together NBC. Congrats to Mazda, FINALLY after so many fails they win a nice 1-2.
Porsche have really been punishing Corvette a lot lately, Le Mans and now this. I'm a Corvette fan so it's a little sad but also funny knowing their history like 2009 (if I remember right) Laguna Seca
It is amazing that after 46 years, people still remember and recognize that crash. I wasn't even alive then. But growing up in a racing loving environment,I heard about it,learned about it.
Surprise toy City the guardrail height and configuration is completely different now than in 1973. I was there then and saw that event in person. cevert’s car went under the guardrail and he was decapitated. This car merely hit the guardrail in the same location. There is no comparison between these two accidents
Michael Jackson I was 12 when it happened. I was sad at the time. For me its the documentary about that weekend that perpetuates the feeling. Jackie & Francois discussing the gear change that Jackie later says might have caused the wreck. Jackie's wife tearing up when talking about his death. Francois winking at the camera as he heads out of pit lane for the last time. Combined it brings the sadness back.
@@Camplou2 Yes, the guardrails configuration is not the same, but still dangerous. I know there is a bridge there, that's why there's no way to push guardrails far fom the track, but in my opinion there was a posibility to fill the tunnel to make the area flat so there would be space for run off areas on both sides of the track. Maybe it's not possible for some reason , I don't know...
I wish these DPi cars could be fitted to race with LMP2s instead of being in a separate class. If these raced in WEC and some entered into LMP1 class, maybe the LMP classes wouldn’t be facing extinction. EDIT: Mind, I could totally be seeingg this the wrong way. What do you guys think?
Chris Wright The ACO wants more flashy regs. DPI was essentially too basic for them to accept. Add on the fact that IMSA launched DPI to begin with, the ACO was never going to adopt the idea. It’s unfortunate to be honest because a global unification for top level prototype racing is the dream, but it seems like the governing bodies on both sides of the Atlantic can never get on the same page.
Donald Myers I watch it on discovery velocity with the radio Le Mans commentary and it's so stupid of how NASCAR runs their point system with "playoffs" in motor racing
In IMSA races its hard to judge the overall attendance by just looking at the stands. Unlike say when NASCAR runs here, the IMSA ticket allows you access everywhere around the track. Because its a 6 hr race your not going to stay on one spot the entire race. Besides this Watkins Glen does seem to be one of the lower attending races on the schedule based on its size. However this years race it looked like more people then previous years.
own636 in a sportscar race, fans move around during the race, go to the fan zone, go for a walk around the track ,get some food etc. Also, a lot stay in the infield.
Congrats to Mazda! Finally! Not just a win, but a one two finish! Thanks for the highlight reel.
I was there and I was almost in tears with them, I am so proud of them!!

Mazda's first win since when.? With reference to 787B, please clarify.
They've won the 24 hr Le Mans race before.
1st of many wins for Mazda DPis...
As a pro sim driver, and Mazda being my fav brand. I own multiple for a reason

Nice race. Watkins Glenn is a fantastic track.
Watkins Glen is one of the best and greatest racetracks in the world. it always makes for very exciting racing, regardless of class and segment.
Even in nascar the races are great
MAZDA win! good cooperation🏁🇺🇸🇯🇵🇩🇪
Finally a good race, just like F1 with MAX winning for HONDA!
Man that was lit !

Big win for Mazda 🇯🇵

The people who gave this a thumbs down are people who sit on the board of directors at the FIA/ACO.
Lol
Well put together highlight reel and I thank you for that.

What a race!!
see i think NASCAR should take note more people like this kinda racing because people can relate to these cars than the cars in nascar
This was a classic
ホンダF1の13年ぶりの優勝でだいぶ影が薄れていたが、マツダも優勝おめでとう‼︎
Surprised to hear Kevin instead of Leigh on commentary but it's definitely a welcome surprise. I love Kevin Lee's commentary.

You’re probably right but it won’t matter once the hyper car class is launched
the DPi model should be the new LMP1 model instead of Hypercars. No way should they nerf DPi to compete with LMP2's.

A ton of sloppy driving in this race. I'd point toward the narrow-ish track and relative high speeds. Makes it harder to get through lapped traffic.
wah...
Mazda crazy fast!! They shouldn't allow to race in this category.. Lol
