  • The Ranger Tugs R-27 Trawler is a compact, yet luxurious vessel designed for cruising and exploring coastal waterways. At 27 feet in length, it features a classic trawler design with a spacious and comfortable cabin that can accommodate up to six passengers.
    The interior of the R-27 is elegantly appointed with teak and holly flooring, solid wood cabinetry, and a full galley with a sink, refrigerator, and stove. The main cabin is also equipped with a convertible dinette and a comfortable forward berth with a privacy curtain.
    On the exterior, the R-27 boasts a large cockpit with ample seating for entertaining, as well as a swim platform for easy access to the water. The vessel is powered by a Yamaha 300 HP outboard and includes a patented dinghy lift off the back so that the outboard doesn't hinder dinghy storage.
    Overall, the Ranger Tugs R-27 Trawler is a well-crafted and versatile vessel that is ideal for coastal cruising, fishing, and weekend or longer getaways with family and friends.

    Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat.

    SUCH clever design! I grew up on 27' - 30' sailing cruisers and the amount of room in this boat compared to those is just amazing. And I personally love the OB versus diesel. Not sure it needs 300HP.

    10:17 "The R-29 is also trailerable, just like the 27 is, then once you get to the 31 they're not as trailerable because they're going to be a lot wider."
    The R-29 has the exact same beam as the R-31: 10 feet. Both require an oversize load permit in most states to tow on a trailer. The R-27 is the largest Ranger Tug that can be towed without a permit, because it has an 8'6" beam.

    Love the Ranger tugs. Too cramped for a live-aboard. But the Ranger 43 is a beaut.

    Another 50 gallons of fuel capacity would be nice. Going to the Bahamas would be sketchy if a storm crops up.

    Needs a little generator and I’m thinking 300hp is a little under powered. I had a 27 cruiser with a 350 and felt in bad seas I could have used a little more power. Otherwise it’s a sexy boat!

    Funny how these are so similar in some ways yet so different to Sargo, Targa and Nord Star. Then even add Axopar and Saxdor into the mix. It's a very interesting area of the market and the competition right now is fantastic for me when I hope to buy one in the next few years...

    Great for a person and a small dog on excursions. I would prefer twin 150's to a single o/b however. No need for a tender cradle on a 27' outboard IMHO.

    Anyone that buys a Ranger Tug should consider upgrading the anchor if anchoring over night . Did you look into construction & Warranty ?

    Just shy of a quarter million! Certainly a nice small power boat but that's the brand new price, right? As far as fuel efficiency goes, . . . I can sail my sailboat, and often I never have to run the 4 hp outboard. So I get infinite gas mileage! : - D

  • @Alsinsin

    Very narrow sides where you can barely set foot. They should have provided a way to access the fore deck from the cabin. The V berth is way too awkward for a liveaboard. It sure is a nice boat for a weekend trip or a short vacation.

    • @seikibrian8641
      @seikibrian8641 11 месяцев назад

      If you don't like the V-berth, you can upsize to the R-29, but that's not a true trailerable; you need an oversize load permit. My brother recently sold his R-29, but he loved it while he had it.

    • @seikibrian8641
      @seikibrian8641 11 месяцев назад

      The advantage of an outboard on a vessel this size is that you can work on it or even replace it without having to tear the decks apart. And if you really want to smell diesel fuel, there are diesel outboards nowadays.

      My wife and I have made this part of the Learning the Lines drinking game.
      Along with a few others like, "protected helm" and "Forward facing nav station" and "galley style kitchen."
      Forgive the teasing, we love your channel! Also, I've got a couple of mimosas in me as a result of the drinking game. I'll have to post the full rules.

      How do you pronounce "boatswain"? How about "Gloucester"? ;-)
      (However...it's the InTRAcoastal Waterway, not the InTERcoastal Waterway. It runs along the coast, not between the coasts.)
