One of the odd things about COVID, is I have no money nor any knowledge of boating, and I have now watched a thousand boating videos. This is my kind of boat.
I'm with you there. I would love to be able to afford this Ranger Tug even just the basic model. That only only thing I will add is the additional steering options.
Not only is this a well thought out boat, and it is. My favorite part was the feeling or the boat inside. It just exudes warmth. Cozy is the term that come to mind. I would give anything to live on this little ship. This is a great retirement home. Why be stuck in a fixed house or apartment. Live here. Travel up and down the coast or travel the loop. I would stretch a 2 person hammock across the aft cockpit and absorb the fresh air and the birds.I won't stop thinking little magnificent ship. Thanks, Jerry
You have quite the way with words! Thank you for the complimentary message and painting that picture. Being in a hammock in the aft cockpit, somewhere along the loop, maybe a stop in the Florida Keys, now that would be a dream!
Thank you for showing your great vessels. I love where your BATTERY is stored. No matter the charging state of the art. You will end up changing Batteries. The location on Stern hatches make it so easy to pull out even a 12 volt battery is very HEAVY to lug to exit point up on deck. Brilliant location on design. So glad the DAD father of the company has great managers like you, running the company. I love that you rented out that North dock area of Des Moines Marine. For on water cruise Demo. The travel lifts that CSR operates for you to get your great vessels in and out of Marina (call out to WENDELL the best operator) of travel lifts. He has slung me many times.
What a wonderful concept design & manufacture. It would be a dream to be able to live aboard a craft such as this.. Whoever owns one of these, realize how fortunate you are. Enjoy!
Ranger Tugs are fantastic. There is one weird feature they overlook in a boat that is extremely, extremely well thought out. Screens. Why do they not have rolling flyscreen/blackout blind hatch covers? When both the flyscreen and blackout blind are retracted you have easy access to the latches without the hassle of stowing the loose screens. Come on Ranger Tugs, this is low-hanging fruit!
Beautiful boats....my wife and I would love to own a ranger tug at some point! Thanks for the video. Our local marina on Lake Champlain just started selling Ranger’s. Looking forward to seeing one in person. Used inventory might be right up our alley. Great craftsmanship! Thanks
Thank you for the kind words! We did recently welcome Saba Marine aboard as a dealer, they have been an excellent partner. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out, you can find our contact info here: www.rangertugs.com/contact-us/
@@karlchristoffer1275 And your weather just looked like British weather, cold, dank and wet - I'm sure the vast majority of Brits would feel at home over there in the US North West - do you have horizontal sleet/snow? - that would be the cherry on top of the cake...

@@VicTor-gi7so I have not done any comparison yet. Hope to do that this year. I think it is pretty economical from the limited time we had on her last year.
I really like that boat. A great mix of practicality and comfort. She has a sturdy, purposeful look, combined with nice styling and fine woodwork. You could fish from her or cruise in comfort with friends. She looks a perfect all rounder and packs a lot into her size.
So much real estate on a pocket trawler! Love the gunwale cutaway bench seats in the cockpit. The half bath in the aft cabin is a nice touch as well. Sign me up! The only thing I need extra is a generator and A/C.
Wow, what a super beautiful and functional boat with smart solutions. The spaces are used very well and built with care. For example, a boat is meant with compliments to the builders. Top and welcome to the European market. Great Peter Netherlands
Nice boat! Wish this was affordable enough back when we bought our used 31' in the Pacific Northwest. I've seen the various Ranger Tug models sitting at that dock where they filmed this walk-through. One of the couples in our U.S. Power Squadron had a 28' Ranger Tug and he loved it and trailered it around too. Pretty good layout, well thought out. Looks like it 'could' sleep 6 adults, but might be a bit tight with all their belongings. Nice couples boat or even single-handed operation.
Bulbing out the bow where the centerline meets the water then adding breadth would make this a truly a spectacular "fleet management vehicle" as there is a profound lack of deck space save for up top which in addition to the side door makes this an awesomely fun machine for both entertaining and everyday use.
nice boat! i need that at lake mead. extra fuel. a/c and generator. no rails or bumpers on the swim deck. that would be a great boat out there! you can't handle the heat all the time! and a very nice interior! 2 couples is perfect!
A lot of neat features for a boat this size. My only negative comment would be that the engine compartment is really small making it difficult to do any work to the engine especially if the boat is underway.
We love to hear that, thank you for the kind words! We love getting people out on the water enjoying all it has to offer, we'll certainly keep building our boats!
Another great video Capt Andy! I didn't realize the last piece ut was still tied up at the doc. Do they have enough room for two more? Or are they practicing when the next to do arrive Looks like it is prime picking time for the Grappler too? Lots of fresh, water-soaked autos to be pulled free. Hopefully, the weather for there journey further south will be uneventful and they get the LA without any problems. Thank you for keeping us upsated!
Great review of a fantastic boat.Tge only problem I see is the boat is set up for our bad west coast weather but at the back all of the seats open back so you are no longer under cover so if it rains you have no seating under cover out side .
Beautiful boat - many very impressive features - and a superb commitment to maximizing space. The ONLY down side is the tiny fridge/freezer. It is barely large enough to satisfy the needs of a couple for a three day trip. I would like to see Ranger address this design by finding ways to add a LOT more fridge/freezer capacity to this boat. Perhaps a union with Dometic could find creatine ways to add their large units in a more permanent fashion under the rear deck.
You can add an optional fridge on the aft deck, and many people pit portable coolers or freezer chests in the cockpit storage spaces, but a good starting point would be to check out the cooking articles in cruising magazines and also books about cooking and provisioning on boats. Dried and canned foods have been the lifeblood of seagoing cooks since long before marine refrigeration was available on small boats. I particularly recommend Lin Pardey's "The Care and Feeding of the Sailing Crew." (Or maybe it's "the Offshore Crew." Something like that.)
Great source recommendation. We will certainly explore these books. Thank you! We do use certain Non GMO canned foods at home and certain dried foods for kayak camping and backpacking. The need for a refrigerator is specific to fresh salad ingredients and hard to find Non GMO. organic items. Nearby grocery shopping during harbor stops and layovers has proven unproductive when looking for organic produce, organic Non GMO canned items, and other Non GMO products. You need transportation to find and access grocery stores that are located a distance away from the harbor. It's doable, but renting vehicles is not ideal. Al aside, these Ranger boats look fantastic, and we do hope that they will look to new, innovative ways to place additional on-board refrigeration into their designs. With solar power advancements across the industry including smaller lithium batteries, smaller inverters, smaller charge controllers, and higher efficient/capable solar panels, space requirements for RV and marine applications continues to get smaller making it both feasible to add increased solar capabilities and more conveniences like larger refrigeration.
I was hoping years ago when the R-29 seemed much the same as the 31, Ranger might stretch her to 32 and make the internal accomadations longer, leaving the aft deck size the same as the 29, but with the cool fold out seats. Look at the weather in the video. Cruising in cooler climates would be nicer with more interior space for hanging out. Yeah, 3/4 size fridge to right of door, and toilet and sink for guest cabin/day head to left as you enter from aft deak. Still love the concept. Trailerable with a beefy pickup. You can use it as a boaterhome enroute to next cruise!!!!!
Where I live in south Louisiana, it’s bass boats, gator tails, dirt devils and center console, center console, center console! No one from Slidell to Lake Charles sells cabin style pocket yachts.
I prefer these smaller Trawlers for their utility and instant availability. Just get aboard and go. Additionally extra baggage (friends and friends of friends) can plausibly be left behind due to lack of room. I could find peace while still being able to plot my revenge on such a boat.
That day way a soaker, we moved under the cover of the cockpit hardtop and inside the cabin as soon as possible, turned on the reverse cycle heat and the rest of the walkthrough was a breeze.
Seems a VERY well made, smart designed boat. It just has no beam. If it were at least 12ft I'd consider it. I'd have to go with the 43 and get twins and a bridge.
The 41' last year was about $700K before any discount. As best as I can recall. It's a bit unusual for a 31' boat to have a 12' beam, more likely to have a beam of roughly 10 feet on up to 10 1/2 feet.
There was one of these in the slip next to my Albin Trawler It took on enough water one night that required a lot of technicians to fix it Listening to them didn’t make me want anything as complex.
Another comment is the sink in the master state room. Being a modern design sink that is about cabinets below sink storage adds so much more room. Gear idea on sinks.

Youre not alone my friend. in 10 to 20 years boat sales will go up and it will be thanks to covid
I have a mental image when I think of the word "Tug", this Ranger certainly shatters that notion. Well done.
Looks like the perfect bachelors pad.
That’s EXACTLY what I was thinking! A boat like this, a job where I can work remotely, and I can become a citizen of the world!
It really is the best of all worlds and extremely affordable considering new homes at 400k.
She's truly a beauty
These boats are well made, supported with excellent customer service and perfect for cruising!
Thanks for the kind words Jeff!
Thanks mom.
I have seen tonnes of 30 or 31 foot boats, I don't know why, I just keep coming back for ranger tugs.
Tugs & trawler yachts always have more livable space area than other boats of similar length.
I don't even WANT a boat, yacht, or canoe, yet I keep watching these videos.....odd.
Can't think of a better boat for my age and lifestyle ! Fast and modern enough but beautifully made and designed for " cruising " ! Love it !😎👍
