Thank you very much for the video. It is a perfect material for a beginner like me. I felt satisfied that I was able to understand almost the whole story and could clearly hear the words too.
I'm so happy right now. In the beginning I didn't really understand anything because my brain wasn't switched to Japanese if that makes any sense but in the middle and end I could understand everything.
I have spent this year reading each story when I felt ready for the next one. I found out there is a second book! I know what I want for Christmas, LOL. This book has been one of the most useful tools for me so far.
Everyone commenting is way more skilled than I am. I had to really work to get through this. I don't know nearly enough kanji and I have to scroll in my head for katakana.
Nice story and very well presented and explained. Please correct the last sentence in the summary. It should be Riko told Mai that HE (not she) wanted to go to Tokyo and see her.
Lol I came here after learning Japanese for 3 days already 100% understood. JOKES JOKES I have no clue I was told my friend I was a beginner. well I have something for you he said….. and here we are.
I understood the whole story but for some reason I didn’t catch on to their names lmao and I also didn’t know the words for nurse and nursing school but besides that it was easy.
Hi, I'm starting my studies doing Duolingo of japanese everyday. I can't understand anything of the video yet, but I really want to finish Duolingo course to see wich level of japanese I'll achieve after this. It'll make 1 month that I'm practicing with Duolingo in a couple of days.
Hi, i would like improve my conversational english .... If You are interesting, please let me know. I'm Maribel, I'm 39 years old and I live in México.
it's a thing, yeah. You'll also hear "sungoi" instead of "sugoi" and "anrigato" instead of "arigato" sometimes. I wouldn't worry about trying to use it tho
This is called 鼻濁音 (bidakuon)...which can be loosely translated as "Nasal impure consonant/sound" (since consonants like が、ざ、だ、ば、ぱ are called 濁音 ). It is usually spoken by people in Eastern Japan, especially the elderly and is taught in standard pronunciation classes for becoming a NHK anchor or reporter, for instance. This applies only to "g" sounds that are found between vowels, not at the beginning of words, and only if they are not found at the beginning of one of the several nouns that make a compound word....
I can't believe i was able to understand around 96% of the story! This channel is amazing!

Why does the English speaker keep saying Mai's name wrong? It sounds like he is saying Maya every time. Otherwise this is great.
Maya and Riko gonna hook up for real
