I think what these librarians are getting at is: libraries are the physical centres of knowledge of a people, and as new methods of learning this knowledge become widespread, such a centre must adapt. Great video and love the illustrations. They look like something you'd see in an illustrated book, which gives me all sorts of warm fuzzies inside.
When I was a kid, I thought the library was magical. It felt almost like a place of worship to me (and I’m religious, so I’m not saying that lightly). DO NOT feel bad about checking out books. You have no idea if that book has moved or not. And it not moving means it will probably get purged sooner rather then later. THIS! I work in a library in the UK and literally this is what I'm constantly telling people because libraries are amazing spaces and offer so much! For free! People need to use their libraries otherwise they'll close due to government funding cuts (because libraries are easy to close as it's something, sadly, most people won't notice). Libraries are constantly changing so they can stay relevant to the communities they serve.
In eighth grade, I had moved in from abroad, so I ended up spending at the very least, half an hour every day at our school library... Would come in every day during lunch. After school, I went to the public library a couple of times, but truly our school library was my home. I learnt a lot of this that year. Thank you so, so much Mrs. F and Mrs. W. One day, maybe, I'll go back and volunteer or work in a library myself, in some capacity. It's too much of home for me not to.
I also realized how different libraries and how much they do are depending on the country and size of the city! Like my home library is in a German small town, they do have online services but very limited and also only a few events because its only a small town, but when I then moved to New Orleans in the US for a period of my life, there the library had any book I could think of, locations all over the city, an app, a lot of free online streaming stuff, free classes, like I did a journaling workshop, and you could even get free tickets to otherwise expensive museums through the library! SO amazing!
I worked in a library for an internship three years ago (I’m studying Librarianship and Information Science in Warsaw), so from the perspective of the librarian - I’M ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THIS VIDEO! Thank you so much for creating it ☁️💓📚
As a public librarian, thank you for making this video! We are not just books, we are community resources! Also most libraries have their summer reading programs going on right now so sign up and support us! 😊😊♥️
As someone who works at a library, this is all so true and such a great, informative video! Sometimes it's hard to get adults to come out to programs (often because they're not aware that they exist) and so it's nice to see the information that libraries are more than just books being spread!
sometimes im scared to ask librarians for help but every time i get the courage to go and ask for help theyre always so nice and caring :) i hope i can volunteer or even work for my library one day!!!!
I love my library. All the librarians know my son by name and talk to him. He just got his card today and checked out his first set of movies. In the kids section at the library they a ton of toys for kids to play with while parents look at books, read or work on computers. One of our librarians said she loves when when she heard kids being loud because she hated the "quiet in the library" stigma. I tell everyone to utilize their library. It's a dying resource. There are people who really need them and if people don't patronize them they go away.
I had to work in a library at my old high school as a substitute, and it was the most grueling BUT gratifying work at the same time. I loved my 2-3 weeks as a librarian helper. I had to shelve books, organize books, put barcodes on them, and so much more. Towards the end, I was giving the stink eye to students who wouldn't put books away or put in the wrong spot. LOL. I think of that particular assignment quite fondly because the librarians were so nice as well.
Yes! This is amazing! I'm a person who volunteers at a library, I can tell you that the most important thing our librarians would want you to know, what a lot of the librarians mentioned here, is that libraries are definitely more than just books and a lot of people don't know about all of the resources they can provide.
I wish the libraries in my country were like this. Yes, libraries in the biggest cities are like sort of like this, but in my town and many other towns they don’t even open regularly, they have almost no books, and the ones they have are outdated, no activities, no other media, no help, no anything.
Little mole with braille!! All these things are why I used to study library sciences. I decided against it as a career for myself but it taught me so so much about libraries and it's been great
Yes to all this! I don't think people realize how many and what a wide variety of programs libraries have. I take my kids to free drop in activities at the library all the time, and my library has groups for people to meet and do things unrelated to books like knit, play board games, learn computer skills, etc. People really need to check out their local library's website and see how many great things they offer.
When I was a kid I used to go to the library all the time for books. Then we moved across the world and I had to get used to libraries where the English section was only one shelf, both in my school and in the public library. For a while I stopped going completely. During college the school library was a great resource for studying and research books, but for probably 10 years I didn't step foot in a public library. A few months ago I started studying for the legal bar, and I discovered the massive public library in my city. I've been going there almost every day for months. They have an enormous selection of books, dozens of computers, helpful librarians. They have a kitchenette to make coffee, clean bathroom, nice couches, little study cubbies... I have completely fallen in love. It's also great to see the different types of people who go there. I feel like it's this underrated gem that I just discovered even though I've lived in this city for two years. I know that even after I finish studying I'll continue to go back for the events they hold and the resources they have. It's also so nice to have a place you can sit for 10 hours without having to pay any money whatsoever.
I work in an academic library, so a little different to a public library, but this video is so accurate to what I see every day. I'm not a librarian so when I started working in the library I was like "why do we do this? It'snot really our responsibility?" And the only answer was "We just need to help people". Librarians are special people and we need them in the world.
Libraries are the best things 💖 and you can get a temporary library card if you are living in an area for a short amount of time! Im only living in my current place for the summer and I still got a library card and I’m so incredibly happy about it!
What I discovered just recently from my library technician program was that on the library's website there are databases (which are basically just websites that need a subscription to access) they have a lot of information. All you need is a library card and you can access them. The ones in my library have general information which you can search articles for academic purposes, you can learn a new language, some others are subject specific. Just take a look at your library's website under the databases tab to see what you have, it could help a lot.
I really enjoyed this video! I don't know if I mentioned this already, but I'm really liking the direction that you're taking with your channel. I love libraries so much. I used to volunteer at my local library with homework help and I saw other volunteers who helped immigrants with their citizenship tests and with English language classes. Libraries are such an important part of our community and I love that the resources are free and accessible.
I'm super late to seeing this, but as someone who's just graduated from a Library & Information Technician program and recently gotten a job at my local public library, I appreciate this video so, so much!
im not a librarian but i did work in a library for a while and i wish people knew the pushing the books back on the shelves isnt actually as helpful as they think and we have to fix it so we can see the numbers, bless em for trying though!
this was so helpful, i’m 21 and dropped out of high school in 10th grade and now want a ged and I was stressed about buying all these materials but watching this reminded i’m sure they probably have what I need :)
Beautiful collaboration!! I love the library and have been taking advantage of my libraries since I was a kid. I wish people knew libraries have grown and changed so much over the past years. They are more than just reading, and such a special community resources 💜
Omg I love this video so much. Libraries have been a blessing for my education. As a student with a small attention span, my public library puts me into a mindset to really get stuff done. The last time I was there, there was an older lady tutoring a younger woman on English and it was so cute :,)
This video is lovely! I loved listening to the librarians and how eager they are to help people. I could tell how passionate they are about their job. The illustrations were so cute ❤

I do love my library. I am there at least 3 days a week, and pretty much everything I read these days come from there. ❤️ 📚 ❤️ #LibraryLove
Ariel, you're lit.
As someone who works for a library this made my heart sing. Though we don’t have a tie library in Liverpool, might have to sort that out.
As a librarian, I loved this so much ❤️
I work in an academic library, so a little different to a public library, but this video is so accurate to what I see every day. I'm not a librarian so when I started working in the library I was like "why do we do this? It'snot really our responsibility?" And the only answer was "We just need to help people". Librarians are special people and we need them in the world.
Has a librarian, I say YES. (Also I don't know if you remember me, we met years ago has I was starting my librarian program and you encouraged me 😇 )
This is such a cute video!! Especially with the illustrations it’s like a picture book in video form.
As a librarian I cosign this 💯! Gotta share w all my library peeps!
I work in a public library and it’s a fantastic job!
Libraries are the best things 💖 and you can get a temporary library card if you are living in an area for a short amount of time! Im only living in my current place for the summer and I still got a library card and I’m so incredibly happy about it!
As someone who has spent many hours of my life in a library this makes really happy
This. All of this. As a librarian I can’t love this hard enough!!!
Libraries are amazing!!!
Glad to have found your channel. I love my local library and love to support it.
I'm fortunate enough to work in a library, and I agree, they're AWESOME
I’m just getting back into my library for the first time since childhood and I love this so much ❤️
Omg i clicked so fast. i got a library card last year and it was the best decision ever 💛
MsKaykay12 Yessss Im so happy for you ❤️ thank you for supporting your community ❤️
My first job was the library and somewhere I always go to for comfort so i loved this video so much. :)
I don’t usually comment but this video is so perfect. The animation, the voices! Every choice is so well made. And also libraries rock!
I really enjoyed this video! I don't know if I mentioned this already, but I'm really liking the direction that you're taking with your channel.
I love libraries so much. I used to volunteer at my local library with homework help and I saw other volunteers who helped immigrants with their citizenship tests and with English language classes. Libraries are such an important part of our community and I love that the resources are free and accessible.
this is one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen! thank you for making this
I'm super late to seeing this, but as someone who's just graduated from a Library & Information Technician program and recently gotten a job at my local public library, I appreciate this video so, so much!
Love it! I am an educator and librarian. I feel just like these professionals.
The little ice cream cone trying to stay cool in the heat was so adorable, it made me cry. 🤧
im not a librarian but i did work in a library for a while and i wish people knew the pushing the books back on the shelves isnt actually as helpful as they think and we have to fix it so we can see the numbers, bless em for trying though!
This video is so important! Libraries are one of the few spaces in the United States that does not require any fee to have access to their services!
I’m studying to be a school librarian now. Love your video
Libraries are awesome places, soo many resources available!
I was a librarian for a month and stil appreciate them a lot.
this was so helpful, i’m 21 and dropped out of high school in 10th grade and now want a ged and I was stressed about buying all these materials but watching this reminded i’m sure they probably have what I need :)
Beautiful collaboration!! I love the library and have been taking advantage of my libraries since I was a kid. I wish people knew libraries have grown and changed so much over the past years. They are more than just reading, and such a special community resources 💜
I cannot love this enough! I love my local library!
This is so cute! Libraries are such an important place and they offer so much!
Thank you for this video! I start work at a library soon and im really excited but a bit nervous as to what I should expect and this video helped!
I joined my library last summer and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I *love* my library!
I love libraries! It's so much fun going to the library.
Absolutely love this video! Great way to inform more people about the many great resources libraries have to offer!
Omg I love this video so much. Libraries have been a blessing for my education. As a student with a small attention span, my public library puts me into a mindset to really get stuff done. The last time I was there, there was an older lady tutoring a younger woman on English and it was so cute :,)
The illustrations were more than amazingly done, but also clever and beautiful. Loved this video and made me want to visit a library asap.
The illustrations are sooooo CUTE, and I just love the basis of this video.
This video is lovely! I loved listening to the librarians and how eager they are to help people. I could tell how passionate they are about their job.
The illustrations were so cute ❤
Damn, I really want to be a librarian. I've wanted that for a few years now, but this video just made me really excited about it again.
I used my library to get the mortgage for my 1st home. Scanning & emailing all the paperwork to the lender. It was a great resource!
