If you get a chance check out the Nikon-DX 35mm F1.8 for around $100-$120. An adapter for G-Lenses would be needed for aperture control. Very sharp lens with good colors. I even use this DX 35mm on my full frame Nikon D610 with minor vignetting only at the very edges.

That is great advice. I hear a lot of good things about the Nikon lenses. I can't wait to get my hands on one. Hopefully someone has a dirty one I can clean up and fix!

You are correct that they don't come up often, but you can still find a steal now and again. I got mine for $50 including shipping. I got an even better deal on the 35 mm 2.8 though, as the person was just getting rid of old gear and they mailed it to me for free because nobody wanted it. It was in much uglier condition but the glass was clean.

Just picked up an M42 version for a bargain from Japan. Agreed, the K version (not K-mount Pentax-M) are rare.

I love the m42 look something that modern lenses can never achieve

@@photographers.life.photos If you haven't done so already, if you are planning on using an m42 on your Pentax splurge on an ASAHI PENTAX M42-K mount adapter. Most of the Chinese clones are too thick and you loose infinity focus as well as the aperture numbers not being at the top. I have taken belt sander to a couple of Chinese adapters to get infinity focus.

that is my goal in life I love my Pentax KP and I have my eye on the K1 Full Frame. I am Trying to get the adapter with a camera bundle on eBay but I might have to splurge. how much did you remove?

If you can’t get the Pentax SMC 35mm f3.5 get the Takumar Super Multi Coated 35mm f3.5 both are the same.
Best vintage 35mm are: Zeiss Jena 35mm f2.4 Flektogon, Chinon “tapered” multi coated 35mm f2.8, Contax Zeiss 35mm f2.8 Distagon, SMC 35mm f3.5, Pentax m 35mm f2.8…these are very similar retrofocus designs, usually 6 elements in 6 groups.

Longest I spent was over a year looking for the smc k 24mm 3.5 at a price less than 100 dollars. I think at this point I've bought and sold virtually all early k lenses. Love them all but it's ridiculous to think how much these have increased in price. Mine was probably like 20 bucks.

It's always worth the wait. But I agree I bought and sold a Pentax-A 50mm for around 10$ and now I can't even find one for under $30. I guess that's why lecia is selling a $5k film camera 📸

How do you like the 24mm is it worth it to you? And what do you like shooting with it?

@@photographers.life.photos the early 24 k 3.5 has less distortion than the later 24 2.8. I recommend for landscape or architecture. And also has a very short minimum focus distance that can be enjoyable for subject isolation on small items
