Many of the SMC Pentax-FA 35-80 4-5.6 lens are available because pentax sold so many as kit lens on the zx- and mx- series autofocus cameras which die when the plastic gear on the motor fails. After the camera dies the lens is usually donated to a thrift shop, is offered on Ebay or is discarded. Great little cheap lens that was sold with weak cameras.
out of curiosity ordered it, received it today, it is a worst lens i've ever had, soft througout its range except 80mm and at f/8. you're lucky with your copy, it looks way sharper than mine.
