The world building of John Wick is premium. There is a global network of hotels, assassins, etc. The Lore is very intriguing. The elite assassins like Caine and John Wick have this Warrior's Code that most people admire and respect.
While the tropes can be repetitive, I do love the mystical world-building of the films, it brings so much mystery and intrigue. What made me love the John Wick films and why they've been consistently amazing is the inventive action scenes, so much that they killed an epidemic in Hollywood: Shaky-Cam. Ever since the Bourne films, filmmakers in the 2000s have used kinetic quick-cutting and shaky-cam to mask poorly conceived action scenes. Now that the 2010s brought us Hollywood action films made by people from the Stunts industry, films like the John Wick series pave the way for good and well-crafted action scenes.
That's such a great point about Shaky-Cam, I absolutely hated that! I grew up watching a lot of movies from Hong Kong, and they never went for that cheap fakery to mask poorly choreographed fight scenes. It's fantastic to see that kind of authenticity reflected in this John Wick universe! And yes, absolutely love the world-building here as well - I'd happily watch any spin-off they want to give us!!!
@@NerdSafari This video essay talks about the why Shaky-cam became the norm in action films in the 2000s. ruclips.net/video/yfAH4CcFgSQ/видео.html It's a sigh of relief that Hollywood moved away from the Bourne-era of action direction. Now we have films like John Wick and Extraction, all directed by stuntmen, we are seeing a return to the way Action films were filmed in the 80s and 90s.
I watch these movies for the action and not necessarily for the plot so the "tired" "overused" plot of her parent being murdered and she seeks revenge doesn't bother me as long as they have great fight scenes like the knife fight in john wick 3.
Yeah “you killed my father…” trope is so trash, but this looks incredible. We have to remember that this universe started because someone killed John Wick’s dog.
Nitpicking as usual. That "trope " has been around since the Greeks were doing plays. How else you'd do a revenge story without the revenge of lost? Whether it's a dog, mother, father or someone the person cares for.?you'd be complaining if she just killed to kill. Even villians has reasons for doiwhat their doing even.
People are allowed to have opinions, positive and negative, it's not always "nitpicking"! But fun point about John Wick's dog - come on though, the first movie wasn't just about the dog, they also stole his vintage Mustang!!!
The fight choreography ranks as my favorite but the whole world of assassins, The Continental and the formality of rules and etiquette. Great trailer, very excited for this film👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😎
We assume that the “murdered my father …” is the reason for her anger. But, there could be more. She is part of a family, so the father thing could just be the beginning and her desire is to actually be the next Baba Yaga … besides, the fight scenes are absolutely beautiful compared to much of what we see now days.
I do agree the motive is tired, of losing a parent. but so was losing a wife as john's story was. I just feel as though in this universe they just find ways to keep the fans invested on the road and not the destination.
There's a quote by Alix Harrow that goes, "Every story is a love story, if you catch it at the right moment." It really is kind of true. Just think what started our whole journey in the JW universe. John's love for his wife and the puppy she left him.
Well maybe he was the best dad she ever had or maybe he was all she had...Who knows ...The plot is the revenge and she had to train for many years to be a good fighter...it's just my opinion...Now we have to wait and see...🤔🧐👀
Every story a trope of something since storytelling began. Stop nitpicking things. Whatever you've watched and thinking about how original a story is ,its probably based off something you've haven't seen b4.
The comment was that we hope the character has more depth than just needing to avenge her father, as that has been done to death in movies. And yes, we're allowed to have an opinion on the positives and the negatives, so no, we won't stop nitpicking things!
This is a No for me. I'm not really a fan of the John Wick Franchise. I saw the first 2 films and I was like ok I'm done. So instead of the Dog it is the Father in this one. Spoiler alert: She does not die just like John Wick. lol
you’re not even a fan in the first place, thus this trailer will surely be a no. so whatever the franchise is going make, it will a NO to you. generally speaking, this is not a film franchise for you. and yes, dogs are precious to some people that if they have the means, they’d kill for them.

Completely agree with you - the depth in the world-building is phenomenal, more like a series of novels or comics than movies!

Revenge is the best reason for the action scenes.
From what I heard... the original director from the first one was previously a stuntman
What other motivation would you suggest? Which trope hasn't already been done?
I was going to joke "revenge for destruction of pet plant"... but I have a feeling that was already done?! Fair point!!!

This new remix version of Tiny Dancer by Elton John is just perfect for this trailer and I hope they leave it in the movie
very cool. love it

Very true! I'm sure we'll have a blast watching it either way!!!
smart woman.
