- Today we are getting out and exploring the Philippines some more. I start off at Mount Samat National Shrine.
I then go on a monument scavenger hunt throughout the area of Bataan. During WW2 the Japanese made the Filipino and American fighters march from Bataan, which would be known as the Bataan Death March.
I try some new foods in this video as well. I find out what tamarind is for the first. Wow, is that surprising! I ate some pretty delicious Vietnamese food too.
Thanks for watching!

You should check out the Manila-American cemetery for a beautiful, historical site in BGC Taguig.
Pay tribute to those warriors who passed away in the Bataan Death March in the past!
I have never tried tamarind, and I am really curious why it is not popular in my country?
Thank you for sharing this wonderful day, well done! 👍🥰🙏
P. S. You like studying history very much and your language skills are also very good. I suggest you learn a little Taiwan Mandarin!
In the future, you can travel to Taiwan for a long time and shoot more videos with different contents!
interesting, it's not found in Taiwan? it's so close! lol I def do like studying history and language. I feel bad that I didn't study any Tagalog before coming but that's what i'll work on in Japan when I'm cycling and have a lot of free time. I studied so much Hindi for India but I didn't get to use it that much...
@@NickKTravel There are only a few people cultivating tamarind in Taiwan, and they are not cultivated or sold in large quantities!
Therefore, I suggest you learn Taiwan Mandarin as soon as possible, and you can use it as much as possible in the future!
I will be happy to talk to you! 👍🤩👌
Mad respect for going to Mount Samat, Bataan on a motorbike with this blistering heat. Yes, that is a monument which commemorates those fallen soldiers who were at the Bataan Death March during WW2.
it was sizzling out there for sure! Pretty cool monument to see in person though!
@@NickKTravel I believe there's an elevator inside the huge cross which could take you up on top for a better view. I'm not sure if it's still operational. The last time we went there was almost 10 years ago.
When a child took your hand and put them on their forehead it's a sign of respect to the older people and ask for your blessing. So you'll just say God bless you in return
Same gesture in Indonesia and Malaysia. It's called Saleem. Also, it's not just for children, but all people Saleem those who are older.
buah yg kamu makan dijawa juga banyak, kita menyebutnya pohon asam jawa, anak kecil kelahiran tahun 90 an pasti pernah makan buah itu terutama di desa-desa

Showing love to you Nick! I appreciate this great video. Never ending war 🌎...very sad! That Vietnamese sandwich didn’t look like one. You should’ve treated yourself for an hour Swedish massage for less than 500 pesos. Can’t wait for the next one.
Yeah i've def had better Vietnamese sandwiches. Maybe i need to just go to Vietnam and try the real thing! Glad you're enjoying the videos so far ✌️
The free sour broth served with the rice meal is a tamarind soup, or Sinigang.
My mother's great grand uncle was a death march survivor. During the march, the women watching alongside the road would form a crowd and pull soldiers from the line then hide them. It was a huge risk, but they somehow managed to save a few soldiers. My great great grand uncle was one of them.
what a heroic story. i couldn't imagine what it would have been like...
It was a very sad history, the Bataan Death March😢😢😢
April 9 Bataan death march. Day of valor. Araw ng kagitingan.
Do they have aircon?
yes
Bataan my home province. It's been over a decade since I've been at Mt Samat.

Unfortunately, riding and driving in slippers or sandals is not permitted there in the Philippines, however in the very rural areas they are more laxed in the rules. Even here in the UK it's not permitted to drive in slippers or sandals.
yeah the guy who i rented my bike from told me that too so i rode out of manila wearing shoes but when i was in bataan and out in the rural side i saw others just wearing sandals so i thought it was ok... just gotta be more careful in the cities i guess
Thank you for featuring the Bataan death march. My grandfather was in that death march while my grandmother and uncles were in prison for helping Americans and Guerillas, feeding them and helping them. Mabuhay!
you're welcome. wow, i would love to have a conversation with them!
@@NickKTravel yes, the stories were really heartbreaking and amazing at the same time. Unfortunately, they have passed on.
My mother told us the stories.
Very true. My grandmother told us the same story that the locals were lined up on the street and some women wearing “sayas’ hiding some food for the American soldiers and give them when no enemy soldiers were focused on them.
❤❤❤❤❤hello
Thank you America this is something others don't understand why Filipinos love America they don't know the real history between our country....
The fruit you are eating is tamarind. The Philippinos cook with it
i see, yeah so i figured out the soup i was drinking has it in it, but i think its good just to eat plain!
Back home they make candy with it. In Asia they add sugar and pepper. I am sure you will see it on the street selling please eat a lot of those delicious fruit they have I am craving it so much because they are the same as back in Jamaica
tamarind is more common in Thailand. Billions of travelers go to Thailand, so 98% of Humanity know what is a Tamarind. One of the main parks in Bangkok has hundreds of tamarind trees. Filipinos should know more about the culture of its neighbors.
4:12 i think it is because you didn't do the Indonesian Vlog. If you do, I'm sure your views will increase. Come back to Indonesia to visit Ibnu in Jember.
yup that's true!
The US actually celebrates the Bataan Memorial Death March in New Mexico, annually. You might wanna see this vid: ruclips.net/video/Rl-M1iB120Q/видео.html And this activity in the Manila American Cemetery & Memorial: ruclips.net/video/GigUb333AB0/видео.html
