  • In honor of Conservation Officer Appreciation Day, annually recognized on March 15, you will meet a Grand Rapids man and his family who were helped by a conservation officer after a life-threatening chainsaw accident near Pentwater Lake in Oceana County.
Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers are sworn law enforcement officers through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards who protect Michigan’s natural resources and the environment, as well as the health and safety of the public through effective law enforcement and education.
Conservation officers live in the counties they patrol as embedded members of their communities, and are equipped with patrol trucks, boats, ORVs, snowmobiles and more, so they can quickly respond to life-threatening, general criminal and search and rescue events where time is of the essence.
