1 midi in, I agree. I would like it a lot more if it cost twice as much but had the same connectivity as the Pro VS Mini or a Volca. It has very cool sounds but it so tiny it is hard to use, not just the tiny keyboard but the tiny knobs and the tiny screen is hard to see. I put off buying it for a long time for these faults but they are so cheap I finally gave in.
Yeah, it’s hard to resist when you can buy hardware at the price of software lol. Only problem with this versus software you can only use one of them whereas with software of course you could have multiple if you want.

@vintagekeyboards So basically you wanna be able to control the Behringer JT 4000 from the Nord keyboard. Absolutely you can do that however what you’re gonna need the device in this video ruclips.net/video/gcxTjwTDJm0/видео.htmlsi=mXftNaOerAE6VgLx
The Akai has a build in USB host. Most (almost all) midi devices don't. That's why there exist USB host to midi devices. But I agree, it's a very powerfull synth. It sounds way bigger then it physically is!
I ordered the cable to test with ~ simple USB MIDI cable - even so I have come up with a few other ways to use it dawlessly… ;) more info on that coming soon. I love the sound of it - I really would love it if Behringer would recreate the JP8K that was one of my dream synths when I was pretty much the brokest in my life hahaha.
@@Cap10NRGMusic I use mine (and the Pro VS mini) with the DoReMidi UMH-21. It's basically an USB host that also has 5 pin midi connectivity. Along with the DoReMidi 4 ports USB hub, I can connect 4 USB devices (synths and/or controllers) and one 5 pin midi device (synth or controller) to my rig. So far I have not found any issues with it.
@@VanellopesWorld this is probably the best 50 bucks ever spent on the synthesizer. I have always wanted. The sounds of this is capable of making since I saw the original sent that it was kind of modeled after from Roland the JP 8000. I think that was the right number. It used to sound amazing and now knowing that I can have it basically in my studio for 50 bucks is insane!
@VanellopesWorld nice!! I e been eyeing that but can’t justify it… Well I’m happy for you - if you make anything cool and want to share it feel free to shoot me a link! :)
Trying to sync it with a volca but guitar center does have these like usb midi cable adapter things i guess thats how i could maybe? Just wondering i dont mind playing it live for a few minutes over the beats i made but just wondering if i could sync it like i can my pocket operator ko 33
Well, no, there’s no way to connect to a Pocket operator at all really since pocket operations is those little sink cables and those are not part of the GT 4000. Also, you’d still need to weigh to power it and play it… I mean if you bought, a midi controller box like this amzn.to/3XkBZGN or you can try your luck on aliexpress- they have what looks like the same box, for about $20 less, but no one sure if it’s the right device because sometimes what you get is not what you thought you’d get from what I understand. There’s one other more obvious solution if you want to be able to play it in your set since you’re using a sampler. Why not sample the sound you want to use and play them on the sampler itself? I know it’s not analog and it’s not a perfect solution , but it can work. I hope that helped sorry for the disappointing news but the GT 4000 is a great device. It’s just an “I am what I am“ device if you know what I mean. Hooking this box up to it is definitely taking it outside of territory that they wanted it to be able to use for I don’t know why I think it’s a great idea and I’m surprised Berenger hasn’t whipped up a clone of their own of a midi host box and made it known that it’s the way to go. Good luck, man don’t forget to sub and I’ll definitely look forward to hearing back from you on your progress with this.
I would absolutely love to see this work here for me. I purchased a splitter just like that and connected a battery bank and midi controller. The controller powered on, the JT powered on-- but no signal send occurred that I could detect. Not sure why- I tried going into JT Settings and scrolled through each midi receive channel with no success.
That would be cool! But I was not able to use it the way I wanted to unfortunately. I did find a use for the adapter but my concept didn’t work the way I wanted it to fully.
I just got my JT-4000 and have tried to no avail to connect to my Arturia Keystep using a usb C to micro usb B cable. I see on the Behringer video the unit playing over usb in the Behringer Swing controller keyboard with C to micro B cable. Could your put link of splitter cable you use in your video. Thanks.
Also, keep in mind, one other thing, I suppose… If you’re using a DAW, this will work perfectly. You don’t need to use a DAW for all of its functions. I have actually used QBase and reason both at different times, as sort of a connecting hub for other devices. Basically, just using them as a way to get other devices to talk to each other instead of actually using them as sequencers or music creation tools. It’s also pretty handy if you have a multi in and out sound card where you can stack up effects and run your synthesizes through them, , combining hardware and software
Its pretty awesome the one I have is mixing with linux and running reaper through my m audio 2x2 system to get input through midi through linux and then audio recording to my daw of choice reaper. :)
Very cool! Linux is a great OS and I really wish it had more support for audio production. The memory management and light weight on the processor vs windows would make it an absolute win!!
Interesting - did you set the channel to MIDI, then dial up the JT4000 on the device. I have the key 61, the Mpc one, and an AKAI force - worked in all of them.
OK, I just went home and tried it now and for a second it didn’t show up… And then I realized that I missed a step. Putting together a video right now it’ll be pretty quick.

Hello @PyramidBeats28 glad to make your acquaintance! Yeah I really hope Team Uli bring out more devices of this quality at this price-point too! It truly is an awesome piece of gear! I’m glad you’re enjoying it! I’ve got some new software coming out soon for patch editing for the PRO VS. currently I only have aversion for use in the Reason Daw - but the PC/Mac stand- alone application is just about done so…
Has anyone tried the “Knot” from intech studios? I just ordered the synth and will check once it arrives. If it works for this, it will surely work for the Pro VS Mini.
Hey there! I have not tried them, but I would not be opposed. I actually did see them or at least ads for them and I thought to myself man that looks really cool. I would love to try those out. But I just don’t have the cash to drop on something like that I feel like it would be not that useful to me on the regular, I have enough sliders, knobs and such. But if they ever wanted to send me one to demo it, I would absolutely do that.
I use mine with OPZ. It turned out that OPZ is midi host (and midi "slave" at the same time - magic!). Unfortunately it cannot power this thing, so I need to use some USB C hub - connect it to the power bank, then connect OPZ to it and JT micro to another port. Somehow miraculously it works. It's shame, that we need to jump all those hops however.
Hey there, no unfortunately that did not work… I ended up having to purchase a mini host box on the plus side that box works with up to four or five devices…. It cost 50 bucks but I think it’s worth it because it works with any USB device like that. Do you want to admit to for example, any of the future minis or micros from Behringer or other devices like my USB keyboard controller. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Don’t forget to subscribe and I’ll see you in the next video.
We'd love to see the direct MIDI data coming from a MIDI controller. You sort of touched on this, then veered away from the main point of your video. Thanks!
Hell there Nicodemus! Thanks for your feedback - thought I am not sure where you noticed that I was about to show data coming from the controller, but if you want to see it I can make that happen. Is there anything specific you were looking to see? Definitely sub to the channel so you will know when I get this video up for you! Have a great day!!
Hey! I may have misconstrued your video title of "DAWless" as to mean that it was just about using cables to control the synth. Nonetheless, if you can show us how to do this, some of us would love it. Thanks!@@Cap10NRGMusic
Hello - yep I found the same thing out when I tried that. But there is a way - you need one of these midi host boxes. I showed this in another video after this one - here’s a link (full disclosure it is the Amazon Affiliate link - it doesn’t change the price, I just get a tiny kickback to help support the channel) amzn.to/3OPA9tN I bought one and have been using it - and have used it in a couple videos. You can actually put a hub on it and get more devices (they say 4 but I’m going to test that and see about more if you use a powered hub) if you want to see it in action check out this video ruclips.net/video/QGDp2vLVZ9k/видео.htmlsi=_rTTtEzEQiThb-ip
Yes, super dope right! Essentially you could hook it up to any control keyboard using that device and drive it from there of course the control keyboard would need power as well, but yes. So if you would get yourself safe, for example, AKAI MPK 249 which I actually have one of - you could theoretically, actually you could absolutely do this, but I’m saying theoretically, just cause you know, you might not want to do this… But you could technically map the faders and knobs to many of the controls on board the JT 4000 and have almost complete live control over it while you were playing a gig. and if you want to see that definitely subscribe I will do it for you and show you how but yeah or if you have an M audio control, keyboard, or whatever any of the control keyboards can work that way using that as a sound module. You can also do it with other small devices like the pro VS, or one of the small KORGS BUT PLEASE DO SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL I WOULD APPRECIATE IT
Yeah I’d rather buy in person myself but where I live the music store (primarily guitar center since they knocked all the mom and pop shops out of the game) doesn’t carry much new gear or synths… mostly “Rock Instruments” (guitar, bass, drums) and a bunch of digital pianos… not synths mind you - like 12 sound digital pianos with organ and harpsichord…. All the sounds any producer need (smh). So unfortunately, my only way to get good stuff is online.
@@Cap10NRGMusic Similar situation over here despite being next to London here there is nowhere nere by that is a Sweat Water or Guitar Centre style store.
@HOLLASOUNDS yeah, man if I had the capital, I would absolutely consider opening up a store that sold music equipment/gear for the kind of music I like to make, and is popular in this day and age. I mean there’s nothing wrong with guitars, bass and drums. I play all of those… However, I really like making electronic music and I feel like that is kind of weird most people have gone to.
@@Cap10NRGMusic Well I check online to see what Music stores are around in the UK in and around London and there all bassed on Guitar, Drums and any keyboards are electric pianos or work station Keyboards. When I think I find something I start researching and the cool picks pf synths are not in the London store. I was must looking at the Roland London store and got excited seeing images off all there synths lined up across the wall, only to discover that those images are from the Leeds store and the London store only has electric pianos. What a waste of London real estate, what are they thinking?
I just bought one of these, it sounds much better than it should, but I'd pay 2-3 times more if it had MIDI in (even TRS!) and a small built-in battery with a 5hr+ battery life would've been ideal!
And I would prefer a quarter inch jacks instead of the small headphone jack as well lol. But it doesn’t look like Behren is changing their way on this design. They just have a new one coming out called the UB micro. I think it’s a a micro of the Oberheim! Already got one on pre-order hasn’t even been officially announced in the store yet, but I have a guy working on it when it gets there. I’ll have one held price 50 bucks.
Sorry, not sure what you mean but if you’re saying you need a $50,000 degree in programming to operate it… It’s definitely much easier than that. It’s very straightforward actually! :-)
@@Cap10NRGMusic Meaning the manual was useless. Terrible technical writer on that thing. You explained a lot however. Thank you. To a common idiot like me there's no way I could figure that thing out without direction.
It’s a synthesizer you can use it half if you want… I’ve personally wanted to purchase one of the rolling units since 1998, 1999 somewhere in that neighborhood when I first saw and heard the sounds it was capable of making but at the time the budget wasn’t there this is the closest thing to it so yeah why not - also I built a controller for it for reason so that I have all of the functions built into reason as though it were a VST only it sounds better and doesn’t put any extra processing strain on my machine… Which is the reason hardware exists anyway in my opinion at this point anywayit’s far more processor efficient to send notes to a physical device especially when we’re talking small processor devices like a tablet or something or a phone. And aside from practical reasons it’s just fun.

@@Cap10NRGMusic thanks for that info. thats good to know. not sure if i would buy another but if i see a 2nd hand one going for a few pound then maybe i would. some time after my last comment, i did manage to set up midi rather easy using it with reason studios. i did in fact get my td-3 sending pulses to the gt4000. so i was happy with that.
Nice and informative. Btw, did you manage to get program/preset change to work via the MPC? On mine it shows up but I can't seem to get any program change...
Let me check. I thought I had but now you make me question it lol. It might’ve been the software too because I have used it with the MPC software on my PC. I will double check and get back to you.
No worries. I got the info elsewhere that the problem lies in the software version 1.1.2. I upgraded to 1.1.5 and it works just fine :-) Thanks for the reply nevertheless. @@Cap10NRGMusic

Do you happen to have a link to the y-adapter cable you got on Amazon ? Much thanks in advance! 👍🏻
Oh that actually did not work, that was an “experiment” it came in handy for the iPad though to pop the JT-4000 on there and run power to keep them both juiced - here it is if you want it amzn.to/3vCySjk
@@Cap10NRGMusic I’m trying to figure out how i can use my Nord Stage 3 Compact 73-key keyboard as a controller for my Behringer JT 4000 Micro….. the only gear for MIDI (something I don’t use much) I found in my stuff is an old MIDI MAN “USB MIDI SPORT 2 x 2” and some old MIDI cables…. just wondering if i can even do this ?
@vintagekeyboards
So basically you wanna be able to control the Behringer JT 4000 from the Nord keyboard.
@FrederikAlkema nice!! I will check that out if the cable doesn’t work. Mind if I mention that in a video?
@@Cap10NRGMusic No problem, go ahead.
Hey there, I have you mentioned in my most recent video ruclips.net/video/gcxTjwTDJm0/видео.htmlsi=RDq_xSep1KwLinhW - just wanted to thank you again!
I just got one on eBay, I can't wait to start using it for my New wave music ☺️
@@VanellopesWorld this is probably the best 50 bucks ever spent on the synthesizer. I have always wanted. The sounds of this is capable of making since I saw the original sent that it was kind of modeled after from Roland the JP 8000. I think that was the right number. It used to sound amazing and now knowing that I can have it basically in my studio for 50 bucks is insane!
I’m assuming it has arrived by now? How are you liking it?
@@Cap10NRGMusic It sounds great. I also got this bass synthesizer too, that Donner made, that one sounds pretty good too
@VanellopesWorld nice!!
@Cap10NRGMusic yea it's alright I can jam on it live while both the volca and ko play and record it thanks bro I appreciate it
I would absolutely love to see this work here for me.
Which Akai MPC do you have. I tried my JT with two different Akai MPC , noone could control it. Thanks.
Here it is! I got the video up for you - ruclips.net/video/YWDlORcuCQk/видео.html

@@Cap10NRGMusic that link takes me to a midi thru box not cable splitter you used in the video
@@ralis yes isn’t that what you wanted?
@@Cap10NRGMusic Nope, I have a MIDI patch bay and a thru box. I was asking about that cable that you used that has power and usb
I needle dropped the vid ten times and never heard any of the synth. But I’m sure it sounds good
Coming up - just got the cable and stuff I needed for the next video
Oh also the intro track (minus the drums) was the JT4000
Still very cool that you got it to work!
Hi. Did you use usb typ c to midi 5 pin cable to keyboard ?
Thanks!@@Cap10NRGMusic
how to connect the JT4000 to a keystep? I've bought a usb splitter but doesn't work
Hello - yep I found the same thing out when I tried that.
So i could connect my USB controller keyboard to it and use the keyboard on it ?
You can also do it with other small devices like the pro VS, or one of the small KORGS BUT PLEASE DO SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL I WOULD APPRECIATE IT
I dont like buying online so Im travelling to Andertons soon and if they have these Im buying them.
Can't it be USB-MIDId? There are plenty generic $5 interfaces on ebay? it can be connected to a keyboard via USB as shown in this video.
For a $50 synth you'll be a $50,000 degree in programming
Sorry, not sure what you mean but if you’re saying you need a $50,000 degree in programming to operate it… It’s definitely much easier than that. It’s very straightforward actually! :-)
@@Cap10NRGMusic Meaning the manual was useless. Terrible technical writer on that thing. You explained a lot however. Thank you. To a common idiot like me there's no way I could figure that thing out without direction.
@djpetenice I gotcha! Hey, if you need any help with that hit me up I am happy to assist at any time while almost any time lol. Right now I’m at work.
Wait, why WOULD you use this with a daw?
That’s just silly.
I mean as a sound module not as a controller that would be ridiculous lol
