@U23Drocs Yes, it has Manual Focus. It works best in EVF mode, where you can see the focus change, but in Hybrid VF mode, it also shows a distance scale to help you ballpark your focus.
@rpmasse01 The camera was still pre-release. Any cons we may have found could be fixed afterwards. Now that the camera has shipped my major concern is the slow, inaccurate MF ring, and the menu layout. Chris and I are discussing doing an X100 revisited video. Jordan @ The Camera Store
Hi Mari I'm finding the autofocus pretty good and the IQ really good for the 300 bucks I paid for this camera in mint condition. I'll get some images up on RUclips pretty soon.
@jelmet666 You can control Aperture, WB and focus manually, but we were unable to control shutter speed and ISO. This may be due to the camera being pre-production though... Jordan @ The Camera Store
@hip2bdaniel Since our camera was not a finished version, and we still have not seen a production model, I hesitate to mention any issues. The one thing I hope is improved is the action of the manual focus ring, which took far too long to shift from Macro to infinity, and was not terribly responsive. Otherwise, I loved the camera and found little to complain about. Jordan @ The Camera Store
Great video guys. Very nice style of review. Fuji Guys! A couple of notes. This is still a pre-production sample. 1 of the display modes does not show correctly (information mode). It gives a live view with some overlays of shooting information. This screen will be similar to other DSLR where your settings are displayed on the large LCD. Also, the movie mode is not finalized (AF not configured yet).
@wolfywho You use the exposure compensation wheel to set 1/3 stop exposure adjustments. The camera will also use them automatically in Aperture or Shutter priority modes. Jordan @ The Camera Store
@white8ass8kika There is a focus distance indicator displayed when using the OVF. For critical focus, you will want to use the EVF. Jordan @ The Camera Store
After a few years of pretty middling cameras, the new Fuji X-Series line are some of the most exciting cameras out there. Chris and I are big fans, and that is reflected in the videos. Jordan @ The Camera Store TV
@FaerieDust Low light was very impressive, in line with a Nikon D300. The bright lens combined with the great sensor will make this a killer low light candid camera. Jordan @ The Camera Store
@SLRist Cabled or through the Pocket Wizards, 1/1000th was the fastest sync speed we could hit. Still really impressive considering the price point. Jordan @ The Camera Store
@U23Drocs The camera shoots RAW and the quality is absolutely DSLR quality due to the DSLR sensor and sharp, fast lens. You can do HDR photography just like a DSLR. Just select bracketing and fire away. Jordan @ The Camera Store
@rpsxnu We were not encouraged to shoot snow scenes, it's just really damned cold in Alberta. Trust me, we'd rather be shooting beach scenes! Jordan @ The Camera Store
@leehajohnny Have you held an X1? It feels more like a digital compact than the X100. The X100 also has a faster lens and a usable viewfinder. I love the Leica M9 to death, but the X100 has a number of advantages over the Leica X1. Also, before dismissing Fujinon glass, remember that they produce Hasselblad lenses now, and some of the finest broadcast lenses I have ever used. As an avowed Leica fan who is still very excited about the X100, I am sold on Fuji. Jordan @ The Camera Store
Great review! I'm the 'dad' in your review as I began with the Nikon and Leica RFinders. Not being able to change lenses to a 50 or 85 for a portrait is a big minus for me, so knowing I don't want this camera which otherwise seems perfect makes your review very useful. Also you really should shoot some indoor avail light and night shots because that's where we are at least half the time.
Great preview guys. I am excited about this camera and will get one as soon as I can. I now have a Nikon D90 and was wondering about the X100's video performance. Did you see any rolling shutter artifact ie. "Jello Effect"? Regards: Scotty2307
What did you 'film' this video with ? I'm guessing a Canon 5d Mk2 ... Played with the x100 at the recent Focus show (NEC, Birmingham, England) and was very impressed but it is more plastic than it appearance suggests at first glance. Good video - thanks for posting.
Great video guys! Best X100 video yet, and by people who actually know how to take photos :) At 6:15, the camera shows that it's at 1/4000s f/2. Did the camera work at this setting? The official specs say it's limited to f/8 at 1/4000s, or 1/1000s at f/2
@JogBird Have you used one? How do you know the feel is off? It could easily be damped similarly to a manually coupled lens, and not everyone in the world desires the same "feel" from a lens. Fuji has specified they spent a lot of time on the stiffness and click stops of the dials, why wouldn't they spend equal user feedback time getting the focus ring to feel nice?
so i have to ask, with all the 'compact' cameras, micro3/4th, etc, which one to get? this sounds like a winner over X1, panasonic, etc? I dont want to lug my Nikon D3s on vacation (I'll still take it for planned shots). Of course would love a Leica M9, but....
hi i noticed that you guys tested x100 out in the winter of -30 degrees. i would like to ask if there's any repercussion on the hardware/ damage to the camera? pls reply, thanks.
The quiet shutter, compact size, and wide aperture is all nice and dandy, but the real questions are, how fast is the focusing speed and is there shutter lag. Would a DSLR user be satisfied with the responsiveness of this camera?
After watching this I'm definitely going to pick one up once I get my next bonus. This should compliment my DSLR perfectly for those situations where I cannot bring it with me.
Just wondering, how does it perform in low light conditions? I'm seriously considering getting this, though I'm not a pro by any means, and it's quite a bit (around 455 USD) more expensive to get in Sweden than in the US/Canada (mainly due to exchange rates and higher taxes), but I've got buddies in the US :P
so i have to ask, with all the 'compact' cameras, micro3/4th, etc, which one to get? this sounds like a winner over X1, panasonic, etc? I dont want to lug my Nikon D3s on vacation (I'll still take it for planned shots).
@Urbanmaniac111 35mm film. you can use on without a battery if you know the Suny 16 Rules for exposure. You set the shutter speed to match the film ISO. Example ISO 400 film you use Tv of 1/400. On a bright day you set the lens to f/16. For each whole step in a loos of light you simply open up the aperture 1 whole step. The next whole step is then f/11. You precock the shutter and pre focus your lens at infinity. Carry 3 cameras with different Focal length lenses and your set for war.
But does it do VR? I'm kidding guys, great video and it looks like a great camera. My only misgiving is the front aperture dial, I reckon a front finger dial like on modern Nikons would be better, but I've never used the X100 and it looks like a fantasitc unit.
If i shoot portraits with the OVF it focuses on the background and not the model.... i need to use live view mode or the EVF for better focus...hopefully they fix with firmware update.
I'm watching quite a lot of videos made in Canada and by Canadians of late. I'm discovering the beauty of your country and especially the down to earth and unassuming manner of the people - very British in a way, not like the in your face, egotistical American persona. Plus my favourite band RUSH comes from Canada :)
@leehajohnny seriously? If by copy, you mean "has advantages over." The Fuji has a viewfinder, last I looked I couldn't find one on the X1. Somewhere down the line of digital, people seem to have forgotten that this is an important thing. The feel is another thing the Fuji X100 has going for it, feels like a camera, the Leica X1 unfortunately feels like a point and shoot. Add that to the Fuji being half the price, the camera looks real good.
@Mrdaguitarist We used Pocket Wizard Plus II Transceivers. Glad you like the X100, we're still waiting for production models up here....
Wow, more than a decade on, in 2021, the original X100 still looks like a work of art.

@phototristan Yes, it shoots 720P at 24FPS. You have control over aperture, white balance, and exposure compensation.
Great video guys. Very nice style of review. Fuji Guys!
Hi from the future - the firmware upgrades made it much better - love mine.
How's the manual and autofocus?
Hi Mari I'm finding the autofocus pretty good and the IQ really good for the 300 bucks I paid for this camera in mint condition. I'll get some images up on RUclips pretty soon.
@@AlGreenLightThroughGlass thanks so much for replying! Appreciate it!
@bearmode Absolutely. It helps you hit that 50th of a second shutter speed you want in video.
@jelmet666 You can control Aperture, WB and focus manually, but we were unable to control shutter speed and ISO. This may be due to the camera being pre-production though...

@flyfisherbc Battery, Charger, Software, USB Cable, Manual. You may still want to grab the hood and filter adaptor.
@cd928 Absolutely, the JPG files are extremely customizable.

A decade of X100. Awesome to see Tyler Stalman in this too, never knew they collaborated.
@mikeismad61 This video was shot with the JVC HM100, one of my favourite compact video cameras.
Jordan @ The Camera Store
@joeldamianicigan It has a program mode. Just set the shutter and aperture dials to 'A'.
Jordan @ The Camera Store
lol, your videos have improved soooooooo much!
@Kolamecp We never claimed it was a review, just a preview.
@scotty2307 As with all large CMOS sensors, there is some rolling shutter. It is certainly better controlled than on the D90, however.
@SLRist Cabled or through the Pocket Wizards, 1/1000th was the fastest sync speed we could hit. Still really impressive considering the price point.

@U23Drocs The camera shoots RAW and the quality is absolutely DSLR quality due to the DSLR sensor and sharp, fast lens.

We used a Profoto Compact 00 monohead.
@cd928 WB was Auto, however this was a pre-production unit. Knowing Fuji, WB should be very accurate.
the best review ever seen, not only for this camera.. great job guys
Great review guys, thanks. Now just to wait for it to be released. Hopefully arriving in time for some nice spring photography.
@ryl77 We didn't see any detrimental effects in the cold besides the battery draining faster.
Jordan @ The Camera Store TV
@bryanncampbellca No problems at all. We wound up shooting most of it outside (and freezing) to death.
@s277979 A good 35mm M mount lens runs $1000+. And I get a brilliant viewfinder and great sensor to go along with it. Sold.
Jordan @ The Camera Store
Excellent work guys. I really enjoyed this preview.
Well done! Thanks for putting this together!
Very cool. Thanks for the preview.
@rpsxnu We were not encouraged to shoot snow scenes, it's just really damned cold in Alberta. Trust me, we'd rather be shooting beach scenes!

Thanks for the pre/review, it was very well done! Good job!
This was an Audio Technica 803 Lav, sent through a Sennheiser G3 system.
i will be looking forward to your review on the new fuji x100s when you get your hands on one!
@Urbanmaniac111 We clocked startup time at 1.8 seconds.
Jordan @ The Camera Store
Excellent preview, Guys. Thanks!
woah im subscribed to both of you guys. nice to see the collaboration!

you guys are great! love your videos and passion for photography
@TheCameraStoreTV I see. BTW, could you change the saturation, contrast and all other things in the unit? Thanks for the reply!

i meant the transmitter when u use the X100 with a wireless flash.. thank you for the respond!!

Regards: Scotty2307
@jock5505 We had fun. I have piles of respect for Stalman.
Jordan @ The Camera Store
@ThatGuyyyyy Extremely subtle. Just don't shoot portraits in macro mode and you'll be fine.
What did you 'film' this video with ? I'm guessing a Canon 5d Mk2 ...
Played with the x100 at the recent Focus show (NEC, Birmingham, England) and was very impressed but it is more plastic than it appearance suggests at first glance. Good video - thanks for posting.
@TheCameraStoreTV Sounds great!
Great hands-on video, guys. I'm so excited to get this! I will be dumping my leica x1 for this.
@sweemechai We used a single Profoto 600 Mono head.
Great video guys! Best X100 video yet, and by people who actually know how to take photos :)

Thanks for the great review. It seems the aperture ring clicks in on full f/stops. How do you set aperture in 1/3 step increments? Thanks again!
wow best camera review EVER!

Chris Nichols has great on-camera presence. Could be a pro host. Excellent review overall.
@PriceWaterhouseCoupe They don't have an X100 yet :)
so i have to ask, with all the 'compact' cameras, micro3/4th, etc, which one to get? this sounds like a winner over X1, panasonic, etc? I dont want to lug my Nikon D3s on vacation (I'll still take it for planned shots). Of course would love a Leica M9, but....
Nice review.
@TheCameraStoreTV can you use the built in ND filter during video?

Is the WB on auto? The shots look too cool.
I love that this thing doesn't have a zoom, I love shooting fixed. It's so much more fun.
does this camera still experiencing the sticky aperture blade problem until now?
Only thing that I'm upset about is that it doesn't shoot 1080p video or atleast 60fps 720p, but I understand that this is more of a stills camera.
Hi may I know what flash unit you are using?
so would you say the face distortion I'm hearing about this camera is a big problem or is the distortion very subtle?
@Urbanmaniac111 35mm film. you can use on without a battery if you know the Suny 16 Rules for exposure. You set the shutter speed to match the film ISO. Example ISO 400 film you use Tv of 1/400. Where is the X10 review????????????
Not the preview video! The review!!!!
I really like your videos we'd like to see more
optical viewfinder, very good lense with wide aperture, retro design, manual focus ring, aperture setting is on the lense. oh wow.
But does it do VR?
I'm kidding guys, great video and it looks like a great camera.
My only misgiving is the front aperture dial, I reckon a front finger dial like on modern Nikons would be better, but I've never used the X100 and it looks like a fantasitc unit.
How would manual focusing work here when you're viewing through the viewfinder?
I apologize if you've already answered this, but, what didn't you like about the camera? Anything that was disappointing?
ei, wut kind transmitter are you guys using??? plssss reply.... thanks

man, i want this sooo badd! very cool.
what flash equiptment did you use? becouse you chould use 1/1000 with flash
@s277979 you mean the price is horrible? or why is the camera horrible?
Looks like Eau Claire didn't kick you guys out after all. :)
Asumming since this is a mirror-less camera you can sync even faster than 1/1000th? can i Sync 1/1000th with Alienbees triggers and Canon Speelites?
Hello, I'm wondering if the Canon Speedlite 270EX II works on the Fuji x100 ? Please I need an answer quickly ?
what accessories does or will it come with?
Is X100 still a good choice today?
It's a great looking camera and amazing quality, but I just couldn't handle not having a zoom
Wow 1/1000 of a sec flash sync speed? That's awesome
Asumming since this is a mirrorless camera yuo can synce even faster than 1/1000th? can i Sync 1/1000th with Alienbees triggers and Canon Speelites?
I'm going to be selling my Nikon D5100 to get this, is it worth it?
Nice generalization there.
@leehajohnny seriously? If by copy, you mean "has advantages over."

Cause what I have seen so far is yes......just want to be sure before buying it!
how to you set it to 1/1000 of a second ?? please help
