    This is the clearest video on RUclips…. The only thing I would add is a step by step process on how to use the rotational and protractor plotter

      Hi Tom. Yes, it sectional chart shows 14 degrees 30 minutes, so 14.5, which we rounded up to the nearest number as 15. Apologies we didn't explain that logic!

    Is there an app that calculates the heading from one airport to another? I know I could use a map but an app would make it so much easier 😁 I am knew to your channel so you might already have covered the subject.

      Hi James. We use ForeFlight for a lot of our training and flight planning, which will cover what you need - just remember you also need to know how to calculate it yourself should you ever need to! Thanks for watching.

    Confused by magnetic wind direction. Is the wind in the question magnetic or true does it matter?

    • @flyaeroguard
      @flyaeroguard  3 месяца назад

      Hello, thanks for your comment! Winds are always provided relative to true north from aviation weather report. That is why we started with our true course, corrected using winds relative to true north, and finally corrected the corresponding true heading to a magnetic heading using the magnetic variation. It is important to know if the wind direction is relative to true north or magnetic north to accurately find our WCA (wind correction angel). Since it is most common to find the winds given relative to true north, we typically find our WCA using true course and true winds. We hope this helps!

      Hello, thank you for your comment! Since it shows 14 degrees 30 minutes (14.5) we rounded up to the nearest number as 15. We apologize for not explaining that part. Please reach out if you ever have any additional questions and thanks for watching!

    Only not clear on is how you got 181

    • @flyaeroguard
      @flyaeroguard  Год назад

      Hi Nikki. You would get the 181 using a plotter on the sectional which we tried to animate in this video. If you are doing this yourself you would;
      Step 1: Align the top edge of the plotter (the side that has the half circle on it) along the course line.
      Step2 : Plane the center off the azimuth (the little whole at zero) is aligned with the green line of longitude.
      Step 3: Spin the plotter so that the long edge of the ruler is aligned with the course (orange).
      Step 4: Read the line of degree that is now relative to you direction of travel - this is your true course.
      Hope that helps!
