"Didn't have a clue that the rappers were helping the rapers, raiders of villiges and pillgers of the schools, shooters of the innocents, tourtuores of the witnesess, burners of the businesses, and my bracelet was the fuel"-Lupe Fiasco, sick and powerful line, I get chills when he says that, Lupe Fiasco is truly one of the GOAT as soon as his last album comes out.
One of the best displays of advanced lyricism flow delivery and content all put together on a track. Some of the best verses i’ve ever heard in Hiphop in my opinion. Almost 20 years later and it sounds better
Doesn't matter who made it first. Great lyrics and a great song stand by itself/themselves!! Rap is like a bell curve. You'll have some really bad and some really good, most falling somewhere in between. LUPE IS ON THE VERY END OF THE CURVE!! HE IS A SUPREME LYRICST/STORY TELLER!! Give the man his props.
Amazing track, glad he gave props to Kanye at the end and inspired him to make the remix. Seriously bold thing to put that message out so early and really challenge the space he existed in.
You see I don't think Lupe has gotten worse, he just started off too good and it must be hard to improve on some of his older tracks, like this for example.
He never slipped once... He has stayed at this level consistently in my opinion... He is the Greatest.. As much as I love Em, Jay, Nas.... Lupe is something more.
This song haunted me when it came out and it still hits like a freight train today. Millennials and Gen Z get shit for killing the diamond industry and I'm glad and I'd like to hope this song helped contribute to it.
lupe fiasco is probably one of the best writers of music because he doesn't rap about the same thing every time like most rappers these days.. he raps about things that are important that not many people know about and they need to be aware about.. he's one of my favorite rappers out there.
Wouldnt bend over an take it from his record lable so they stopped promoting him That just made me respect him so much more, hes in it for the love of it not just fame
Lupe Fiasco is the best at what he does. Not rap/hip-hop - he tells it just how it is without it being depressing. Everything is in-depth, and a lot of his songs are told through characters he creates. Immortal is the best at just telling it to you, he'll give you the cold truth and his lyrics open your eyes to whats going on in the world, but also make you sad. Lupe gives you a positive attitude when you listen to his songs. Hes so underrated too, but definitely one of the best.
Props For The Fan Video, Great Job. It's Sad That Lupe Doesn't Get Anywhere Near The Amount Of Play Or Respect That He Deserves. His Lyrics Have A Point And A Message To Deliver And It's Sad That No One Listens To It. There's No Way In Hell That The Artists People Love Today Are Any Better Than Lupe. It's Pathetic That The Stronger And More Intelligent Your Message, The Less Popular You Are....
I wish more ppl would listen to this dude hes deeper than deep. If the awards n all Lupe would win EVERY award but all thats BS n i agree LUPE is the hottest realest rapper Alive Pac was real as F word
Lupe is one of the best rappers out here and I am glad that he's using his music to influence people. He knows the power of his influence and he raps about the truth. That's why he's not on the radio. The mainstream media doesn't want people hearing this song and thinking about it or discussing what he's talking about over the table to your family or friend's at school. He's one of Chicago's best;) And he's one of the best rappers period
One of my favorite songs from him Hands Down. The lyrical wordplay just represents a whole continent's struggle of violence over the past years. Lupe needs to release more songs about shit like this.
holy shit lupe killed this shit, man I never really used to listen to him before but this dude is sick why doesn't he get more exposure finally something worth listening too
"I floss too; i might go get me a pinky ring tomorrow, but i want you to just SEE." and "You gotta know to be a hypocrite" No one is admitting/spitting that kind of truth.....REALEST RAPPER ALIVE
Raye923 i think the reason for that is after they both put out 2 or 3 albums maybe some mixtapes, kanye kinda bowed down to his label and stopped doing it how he wanted, but lupe wouldnt do that, came out with lasers, which even tho fans putt it down for being pop still had way controversial songs, so Atlantic records blackballed him, he has to promote his own shit and still gets his songs on radio, IE. mission, old skool. it does suck he's not as popular but im glad he didnt sell out like kanye
When some one can make works of art on a constant bases that make u reflect on urself n da world around u, u have to place them on a pedestal, a league of their own. Lupe's one of those artists.
lupe my favorite that you have wrote 1. hip hip saved my life 2. Superstar 3. Kick push!! and like a lot but those three I play everday just about since their realse never gets old hip hip saved my life is my story!!
thats a madd dope track suppa deep concept LUPE iis the truth and hee iis madd under rated one of the most lyrical poetic artist out LASERS WE SHINE!!!
Damn now that I’m nearing 30 years old, I realize the amount of knowledge dropped on a mixtape song… it’s fucking incredible… never realizing the topics of psychology, economics, consumerism, and corruption… I was ignorant as a kid but Lupe was probably 18 when he figured all this out… that’s insane
i was late for work today cos i listened to one lupe fiasco song on youtube, then ended up listening to like 30 others! i just couldnt stop myself, this dude is the shit!
The 1st time i heard this i was like.. oooHHHH Shhhit.. Definately Top 5 All time hands down.. Lupe is an Actual Artist songs have meaning, content lyricality and flow and songs are diverse.. Alot of people sleep on this man right here!--- AXIS
I see Rap, and just about everything as an art. You can't just be good at it, you got to practice it. It's about representing who you are in society and being original. I feel Lupe Fiasco has nearly mastered this art and has done a good job representing himself. He is definently different from those mainstream artists, that's why I think he may be underrated. Overall Lupe has my respect. He especially blew me away from 2:17 - 2:26. I was like "NICE!"
14 years later this song still holds truth and still bangs.
Over a decade later, still amazing.
Honestly! 13 years later and I barely missed a word, lyrics you can never forget
One of the best displays of advanced lyricism flow delivery and content all put together on a track. Some of the best verses i’ve ever heard in Hiphop in my opinion. Almost 20 years later and it sounds better
Lupe will always be the best. This song always gives me chills.
He's so lyrically advanced and deep compared with all the other fake rappers in the game atm, props Lupe Fiasco, true brillance right there!
2022 and here I am...back in middle school on the bus thinkin about how I'm gonna save kids in Africa. Great memories.
Chills every time I listen to this song. Lupe bodied this track!
What a moment in time, those "hip hop is dead" days
Diamonds are one of the greatest rip-offs of all time. Period.
Bottle water as well lol
man Lupe was gravely underrated
Drinking game: Take a sip every time Lupe says, “You know what I’m saying?”
Chicago lingo my brotha. NamSayin?
@@ericcheatem6261I swear 😂
Lupe dropped this and i couldn’t wear my bracelet no more.
Lupe dropped this and my entire family stopped liking diamonds and will never buy one again.
This gives me chills no matter how many times I listen to it
Amazing track, glad he gave props to Kanye at the end and inspired him to make the remix. Seriously bold thing to put that message out so early and really challenge the space he existed in.
You see I don't think Lupe has gotten worse, he just started off too good and it must be hard to improve on some of his older tracks, like this for example.
He's got more complicated. Just gotta listen.
Tyler Trott No he got shitty. Lupe sucks now
MrPootawn you're an idiot
MrPootawn Name one of his new tracks that suck
He never slipped once... He has stayed at this level consistently in my opinion... He is the Greatest.. As much as I love Em, Jay, Nas.... Lupe is something more.
One of the few remaining modern day true rapper with originality and consistency....
PROPS TO FIASCO
Allah has blessed this guy with the power to talk real!! He does it good for us Muslims! Much love to Lupe
"Didn't know they lost half they value when I took 'em out the store."
This just never gets old.
This song haunted me when it came out and it still hits like a freight train today. Millennials and Gen Z get shit for killing the diamond industry and I'm glad and I'd like to hope this song helped contribute to it.
He is an incredible writer. The stories and issues he writes about are amazing. Love him
omg man. his flow is soooo. sick. he is amazing.
2:17 - 2:27
Beast mode
"The venom and the serum" OOoooo
This need to be a episode on "Dirty Money" netflix series. Perfectly painted images. The 🐐 is lupe yeah?
finally someone that cares about the real message of hip-hop and not just a catchy beat
lupe fiasco is probably one of the best writers of music because he doesn't rap about the same thing every time like most rappers these days.. he raps about things that are important that not many people know about and they need to be aware about.. he's one of my favorite rappers out there.
THIS IS CRAZY
WHY IS HE SOOOOOOOO UNDERRATED????????????

This just shows how powerful rap can be if it's taken in the right direction.
I wish more ppl would listen to this dude hes deeper than deep. If the awards n all Lupe would win EVERY award but all thats BS n i agree LUPE is the hottest realest rapper Alive Pac was real as F word
Thanks more makin the video, this is an amazing song and I appreciate that you showed it the respect it deserves.
I love how RUclips's advertisement for this song is a store selling...you guessed it, diamond rings. Oh, the irony.
Still is
Way way better than the Kanye version.
Lupe is one of the best rappers out here and I am glad that he's using his music to influence people. He knows the power of his influence and he raps about the truth.

we were learning about diamond mining in geography today and they played this. never happier to be at school…
Blood Diamond-Really good movie
*THE TOP SPITTERS COME FROM **#CHICAGO*
@Slender NO BITCH
I agree 100%. Nobody in the game right now can match Lupe lyrically, I just wish more people realized this outside Chi-town.
lupe is real, lupe is such a smart rapper...some of his raps just blows me away
Uncut gems brought me here
One of my favorite songs from him Hands Down. The lyrical wordplay just represents a whole continent's struggle of violence over the past years. Lupe needs to release more songs about shit like this.
holy shit lupe killed this shit, man I never really used to listen to him before but this dude is sick why doesn't he get more exposure finally something worth listening too
"I floss too; i might go get me a pinky ring tomorrow, but i want you to just SEE."
and

this shits on kanye's version
Raye923 i think the reason for that is after they both put out 2 or 3 albums maybe some mixtapes, kanye kinda bowed down to his label and stopped doing it how he wanted, but lupe wouldnt do that, came out with lasers, which even tho fans putt it down for being pop still had way controversial songs, so Atlantic records blackballed him, he has to promote his own shit and still gets his songs on radio, IE. mission, old skool. it does suck he's not as popular but im glad he didnt sell out like kanye
The Kanye version is dope. The Jay-z remix is disappointing even tho the verse is hot, he doesnt say anything against the diamond business.
nah not at all, it doesn't have the same natural sync to it
it just has more detail
Fax jay zs verse was not it. Didn't even stay on topic.
Listen to drogas wave
finally? lupes been around since like 01. hes been around for longer than most of these "rappers" nowadays.
One of the best displays of lyricism I've heard
"You gotta know to be a hypocrite"
Just saw him in concert last night in San Diego! It was amazing! I just wish he woulda performed this song :(
How can you dislike something that was done better than the original?
When some one can make works of art on a constant bases that make u reflect on urself n da world around u, u have to place them on a pedestal, a league of their own. Lupe's one of those artists.
Cecil Rhodes, Rothschilds, Du Beers, South Africa, Diamonds
These ain’t conflict diamonds, is they Jacob? Don’t lie to me mane
his rhymes are ridiculous, i really like how Lupe makes a point with his music
Awesome video clip, Awesome song.
Happy to announce I've uploaded a new exclusive Lupe Fiasco video: ruclips.net/video/nOlZnqTWl0M/видео.html

I remember watching this video in 2007 god damn
Lupe gives me hope for hip hop.
His rhymes are tight as hell, he has an awesome flow, and he actually knows what the hell he's talking about.
They lost half the value once i took em out the store🔥🔥🔥
Kendrick can't touch this

best story teller in hip hop. ever.
I see Rap, and just about everything as an art. You can't just be good at it, you got to practice it. It's about representing who you are in society and being original.

He especially blew me away from
2:17 - 2:26. I was like "NICE!"
The work of a lyrical genius...
How can you not like this????
GREATEST OF ALL TIME= LUPE
Mighty Mos and Common have been around since forever. When Hip-Pop took over the mainstream, these guys were lost in the shuffle.
I'm beasting out an essay right now, listening to this track on loop.
LETS GOOOOOOO
he spoke about the diamonds and we needed that now we need some one to talk about the drugs
