For many years I have been using chemical hair dyes and wanted to find something that wouldn't be as damaging to my hair. I recently switched to the Light Mountain Henna as a vegan, chemical-free alternative. Overall I'm really happy with how the henna has reacted with my hair, leaving a vibrant color that lasts as long as chemical dyes usually do. Transitioning my hair from chemical dyes to the henna was easier than I anticipated. It colored over it beautifully and left it feeling like I had just used a conditioning mask. I should also mention that I was usually paying $80-$200 every 4-6 weeks to have my hair done. I was able to apply the henna myself and not worry about any crazy chemicals ruining my countertops. Not to mention the fact that each box costs about $6. Mic drop.
I absolutely recommend ditching the expensive and damaging hair routine for this alternative that will leave your hair much healthier in the long run.
Your personality is magnetic! I currently have henna in my hair as I watch this… I hope for it to look even at least 1/2 as gorgeous as yours! 🥰
Love your personality !!! You need your own TV show!
By far the best tutorial on henna lol! You're great
former redhead. genetics turned my shit cardboard brown bc she's petty!!
i bought the same box. i did some research and deviated from the box instructions.
microwaved distilled water to warm.
mixed with henna.
added a squeezed lemon.
mixed it, flattened the top of bowl with plastic wrap.
waited over night. saw the red dye bleeding from the powder.
it turned a pretty brown. my finger tip turned orange, so i know it 'worked' so far.
Gently stirred it from its brown color to a green color.
shampood and dried my hair.
Did my patch test for 4 hours. Added the 10 minute heat.
Did my whole head.
It turned out very red. Think Estella wig from Cruella, but redder.
Excited to see it oxidized in 2 days.
I should've gone light red, I was hoping mine would be orange like yours! But im happy nonetheless:)
Why haven't more ppl seen this?
I'd love you as a friend. You are funny and beautiful and so charming. Stay well and best of luck with everything 💓
Oh you are so sweet! Thank you for your kind words! Good vibes back to you!
I don’t leave a comment often but girl!!!! You are the best! So fun!
Thank you so much! That warms my heart!
I love this video. Concise and funny at the same time 👍😝
I've already dyed my hair this color (video on my channel) but I watch and have subscribed for the hilarious way of storytelling :P Love it!
You're so great! I love your dialogue, and instructions! 😂
This whole video is a MOOD❤️
THANK YOU!
I add apple cider vinegar to bring out the red tones
Thanks I will try it
How much did you add it
Girl i love your vibe please post more videos
If you're using 100% pure henna it doesn't matter if you use a metal bowl also lemon juice can be very drying.
Right, when she said that I was confused, and also about doing a strand test for an allergic reaction since it's not black henna and should only have a few ingredients in it.....
@Wildstyle Jewelry people could be allergic to henna so always a good idea to do a patch test.
How do you recommend me to do it? Or more like prepare it. I already have my roots reddish due to me using box but my ends are brown. They’re not the same color. Would that be an issue and also how would you prepare it? Without lemon? I want a more darker red like cooper but not burgundy
Looks great! I've been looking for an alternative to chemical hair color for a LONG time!
Don’t Easter your money. Does NOT work. I bought 12 boxes and the first one did NOTHING. Opened up another box, again, NOTHING. No skin staining, no change at all in hair color. Hair feels softer to the touch but that’s IT. This does NOTHING. Fake product.
Hair looks amazing and compliments you so much!!!
I dump a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg in the dry powder to help it not smell like a barn lol. Been using this brand for years though, good stuff
Omgg you are the cutest!!! Also this colour flatters your face a lot, i loved it. ♥️
Thank you so much I really appreciate that!
I don't often see auras, but yours is very bright! :)
This warmed my heart on so may levels!
I find this so interesting! Thank you for telling me! I've never seen auras but can feel energies. May I ask if you see a color or anything? I'm so fascinated. Thank you for your comment!
So beautiful hair color
Love this! Just ordered 🎉
Haha, you are hilarious! And your hair looks amazing :). I am considering henna but so scared! Do you feel big difference in the quality of your hair after henna? Thanks!
I think it's great that you're considering an alternative to chemical dyes! Honestly, I did feel a difference in my hair. It felt softer and healthier overall. Once you rinse it out, put some conditioner in it then rinse that out and let it dry like normal. Let it sit for a day or so before you use shampoo. That way the color will have time to set into your hair and not dilute the pigment. I hope this helps and good luck!
@@live_like_liz Thanks so much

Love how you present this. Really funny :D
Also we use tea it’s great instead of water some tea and henna is amazing and also does miracles for migraines
Yeah I've seen chamomile tea used too ill test it out
For those with a thick head of hair- smather the living crap out of your roots. I thought my head was coated really well, but I have patches where it’s obvious that I didn’t coat it with henna. 🤦♀️ Lol
You are the best!! Thank you for the advice and the laughs 😂♥️
Thanks a ton! I'm happy to help!
Lol you’re hilarious
Same lol
Is it safe for brows?
Beautiful!!! Thanks!!!
I'm full on doing this. I am copper haired but it's faiding with my age. So here I sit. Yes, I am keeping my humour. Put in lemon and yogurt and rooibos tea. 2 hours to go. I hope I have your reaction. You are so hilarious...
If your more copper use the light red. Same thing happened as I got older!
@@amandahutchings587 Thank you for this tip. What red did this gal use?
Dang this looks exceptionally good. I am saving this video. What color of this did you buy? I am a natural redhead and I love this shade, but will probably buy light red. You look fabulous with this.
Did u try that light red?? I just ordered some!
Concur. Hilarious. And, informative. Need more.
Thank you so much :) I really appreciate it!
But which color
You had me at "smells like barf and green tea".
This video gave me some laughs and some inspiration - thank you!
How often do you reapply the henna to your whole head?? Such a helpful video thank you 🧡
I know I’m late, henna is very very much permanent. You only apply it to the roots while it’s growing because if you put henna on henna it’ll just darken.
Cracking up 😂 brilliant and funny!
I'm glad you got a laugh :D!
You are so cute 😂 and funny then finish you look sexy.
Love ur hair!
I am using just for redheads but so disappointed about the quality. I think i will try this next.
I've done 3 applications of Henna so far. Do you notice that when applying the henna to your strands, especially in bigger chunks/sections of hair that there is a lot of shed? Is this just normal for the process or a way to minimize this from happening? I have fairly thin hair already, hoping henna overtime will help my hair to grow and thicken but I'm a little off guard by the shed during the applying process and upon rinsing. Thanks! Your color is absolutely beautiful.
Hello what hair color did you start with before the red?
Nice video, what color henna did you use?
Thank you!
I used the red box with the fox on it.
Brilliantly funny!
I have a question. I used Lush rouge on my hair that had faded from strawberry blonde to sandy blonde with light highlights on top. All natural. Lush pretty much looked great underneath, but on top my hair was a bright almost neon orange. It was still in this "orange panic mode" after 2 weeks. I knew every application it would get darker, so I tried Light Mountain Natural red. It's way better than neon orange, but again, underneath looks better, on top is more orangey. It's a darker orange than the first time I did henna, which is better. I'm thinking that although I'm a natural redhead, maybe going red with henna is not for me. Maybe I should've dyed my hair medium brown first. Maybe I should've mixed brown and red. I don't know. Honestly, I got a beautiful vibrant color that matches the pictures I saw online, and even the fox on the box. What do you think will happen if I use LMN medium brown. Will it cover it totally? I guess I should just go for it. It took me over 2 years of researching to finally take the henna plunge. It's nice to have vibrant color. Perhaps if I use medium brown, then later I can go over it with red if I really, really want it to be tinted red.
I use medium brown dye on my hair before henna on it.
(Or else I get crazy orange hair)
Every so often I strip my hair, if henna gets too dark after a long time applying it.
Then I use brown and then a few days later I use light mountain red henna. (Only one I personally trust, because I can strip my hair without worrying about melting my hair. No metallic salts, etc. in it.) 😄
Can I ask what your natural color is?
What if my hair is like a light orange will it darken it to this colorb
Thank you so much🤩🤩🤩🤗🤗🤗
Great video 😍how much time did you keep the application on your head please?!
I left it in for about four hours after application.
@@elizabeth.mcbryde thx 😊
Thank you so much! I have been keeping it on for about four hours, from the time I start apply it. I set a timer when I start and then rinse it out immediately after it goes off. I hope this helps!
I wasn’t expecting such a bluntly funny and silly personality in this video.
Oh thank you so much! :D
J lake the colore it is so baeutiful 😯😮
Which henna is this??
The red shade. It's just called "red". Fox on the box.
This pandemic you must master the art of diy even dying you're hair
You are so cute!!! Love this video!!! If you could see me, I have this tonta smile on my face. lol
OH yaay thank you! That makes me so happy!
Have you continued to use henna?
I love your color! I've used light mountain before too. I've done all different types of recipes. Did you add anything to your henna? I heard you mention lemon juice?? How much?
Since I made the video, I have tried many different things that the directions suggest including eggs, yogurt, lemon, chamomile and hibiscus tea. I didn't use them all in the same batch mind you. So far I've been happiest with the hibiscus tea because it brought out the red a little more than previous batches. But I highly recommend the yogurt or eggs for extra conditioning. I think it's one of those things where you just have to try a few things out and see what you like. Good luck!
@@live_like_liz thank you so much!! 💕
Can i put it for black hair ? Cuz i want red hair how can i get it ??!!
I used to throw away the leftovers … well I still do lol. I probably should save it lol
How many hours did you left the henna rest before applying? And did you used hot water or regular water? And last : how many hours did you left the henna on the hair? Im so scared to try it, but I live your colour and that is what I'd like. So these details would be very handy
YESSS I have these questions as well!
I use this product- I use hot water and let it sit for at least an hour or so I don’t always add anything else to it and usually leave it on my hair for 2 to 3 hours depending on how much heat I can get on it. Also don’t use shampoo for the first wash. I use just conditioner for the first two washes and keep in mind it will take about a week for the color to settle. Henna is a natural product it needs time to oxidize before you get a final color it usually ends up looking less Orange so don’t be too shocked the first few days if the color is super bright. Also I do an apple cider vinegar rinse before applying the henna
@@amandahutchings587 thank you ❤️
Natural redhead here who's hair is starting to lose its fire and darken...I don't want to go at it with full strength Henna (Terrified I'll end up looking clown orange!) I got a Demi dye put over it by my hairdresser but it's been over a year and I don't want to repeat that. Is there a way to do some sort of gloss treatment with Henna I can do that just gives my natural red a colour boost without it being intense? (Like a colour depositing effect but more permanent) If so, what do you recommend? I guess I'm scared to go all in...baby steps lol!
If you're looking for a bit of a color boost and shine treatment, I would recommend buying a box and doing a strand test. It's not super expensive and that way you could see how the color turns out on a strand of hair that you can easily hide. One thing I really liked about the henna treatment is that it produced a very natural color and left my hair feeling super hydrated. The directions in the box are also helpful with tips on how to increase conditioning with eggs or yogurt, as well as red boosting with tea bags or lightening with lemon. I've also found that my color lasts longer if you're washing/rinsing with cool or cold water. I think it's worth a shot! GOOD LUCK :)
Great video! I have grey hair and thinking about Henna. But I'd like it with a little brown in it. Any suggestions?
HI there! Hmmmm.. well I would say you should look at the color comparison for each box and see where you stand. I've never used any of the browns so I've not sure what to suggest to you. Doing a strand test would be helpful. That way you can see how your hair looks and not suffer the consequences if you don't like it. It's a low risk situation that could pay off if you like it. Good luck to you!
Nice! I'm also looking at this option and company. Did you get the Red or Bright Red from Light Mountain?
Based on the design of the box I think she got red
I used the red with the fox on it.
I have only used the red and the light red boxes. I used to have really bright red hair but haven't been feeling it lately. Have you used the bright red? How did it go?
Love it and your hilarious
I've glad you like it and thank you so much!
What shade is this btw??
Red
How to make heena
Is this product fragrance free? I have severe anaphylactic reactions to anything with a scent/fragrance. And if so do you know of any Henna products that don’t have a smell to them? Please & thank you!! :)
Also what color or name is this specific Henna color you used? I think I might’ve missed it.
My water has iron really bad. Like clothes and dishes turn orange. Well this do something weird to the henna? I've had it for months, but am afraid of any chemical reactions.
Most of the people on you tube who are explaining how to use henna recommend using distilled water to mix it. I can buy it at our local Dollar General Store. It doesn't cost much.
am i the only one who think she sounds so fimiliar to GLaDOs
How long did you keep the dye on your hair?
I left it on for about four hours. It seems like a long time but since it's a natural substance it will take longer.
I kept it on for about four hours and have been happy with that amount of time.
😂 so cute and funny
What if you have natural red hair that's turning brown and want to get back to the natural red color?
same here =/
احد يترجم لنا وش الخلطه اللون يجنن
How long does the color last ?
For me, the color lasts about the same amount of time as regular dye. It does fade when you shower but that's no different from chemical dyes. I've used it a few times and find that I need to re-apply after about 4-6 weeks. I hope this helps!
I would say it lasts about 6 weeks, depending on how often you wash your hair though. I pretty much wait to reapply once my roots grow out. But it stays about the same amount of time as regular dye stayed on my hair, so I feel like it's a pretty good comparison.
God, i love redheads❤
Is this hair dye good for grey hair ?
I think it would be good for grey hair but everyone's hair is different. If you are curious then try a strand test that you can hide and see what it does. I don't think there's much to lose with that approach. Good luck!
@@live_like_liz thank you for your reply❤
Hey 👋 cool 😎 wow
What specific color do you use? You look beautiful!
I have stuck to the red color with the fox on it. I tried the light red with a butterfly on it a couple times but didn't get color I was looking for, so I went back to being foxy!
Thank you for your kind words and comment!
Hahaha ! You crack on girl !
I'm glad you got a laugh! :D
I wish we were friends 🤣
You’re funny 😆😁
Lol, this was great, you're so cute and funny :p
Thank you so very much!
Go to a fitness gym and find a 6'2 guy running on a treadmill
❤️😂
You are so Beautiful and fun to watch!
How many boxes did you use for one application?
I usually use a whole box when I do all of my hair. When I'm just doing my roots, I use about half a box. However, I have VERY thick/long hair so this will be different for different lengths and textures. I hope this helps. Good luck!
I am shocked to learn that you are not a natural redhead!
I truly appreciate this! I have very light reddish tones to my hair but am certainly not a natural redhead. So I thank you!
She stunned and her face expression are charming hot ....I'm 32 and single 🤪
Its like your my soul sister lmao
YAS! I love that!!! That makes me so happy :D
Weirdo
you remind me of Jenna Marbles
How long did you leave the henna on your hair?
I left it on for about four hours. It seems like a long time but since it's a natural substance it will take longer.
how much product did you use for your hair, just one box?
