- Coming back to Makers Central 2022 after being cooped up for a couple of years was a breath of fresh air in a lot of people lives.
I came back from the even with a new spirit for creating and turning, and with a few gifts and treats.

Man, you got it the other way around, turning with these kids made me feel so good and back to my old self, it's you I should be thanking. Will talk about it in future videos... also, added a tag to your channel, some how it was deleted when I worked on the list. Fixed now.

Glad to have you back! I have missed you. Looking forward to see some more beautiful turnings. It has been bad for all of us. However, the shop has been my saving grace during this time. Good luck to the future. Keep turning and have fun.
Thank you Terrence! It's good to be back! got a couple of days of real life work, then a few days off which I plan to spend in my shop turning and experimenting. Hope something video worth will come out of it!!

Welcome back to RUclips Yuval. I've missed your uploads. I haven't been able to turn for about the last six months for reasons you wouldn't believe. I'm almost out of that phase and your voice gives me encouragement to get back to my lathe and some beautiful wood.
Thank you Alan!! It's good to hear from you! Spending the weekend at Makers Central teaching kids to turn sure got my creativity and passion (for wood turning...) going again! You know now I have to ask what is the unbelievable reason for you not turning for the last 6 months... I mean, I didn't turn for 2 years because I was out of my mind with depression, which is pretty much the normal these days, but what is your story??
@@yuvallahav Well, I'm a retired Northern Ireland anti-terrorist detective and served through most of the Northern Ireland Troubles (30 years of sectarian murders). I became ill with PTSD after dealing with over 100 murders. Many of the families of the victims feel that their case wasn't properly investigated and were granted a second coroner's inquest. Last week I gave evidence re a killing I investigated 47 years' ago -in 1975. I have more coming up so PTSD involves depression in addition to other problems such as insomnia, self medicating etc. I hope you are feeling better. With kindest regards including empathy.
You know Alan, as an ex Israeli and ex IDF soldier, you know how much we appreciate anti-terrorist work. As much as I've seen and experienced in 4 years of service and a couple of years in reserve, you've seen so much more and so much worst and you'll have to carry it with you, for which I'm sorry for but your work must have saved so many lives. I can't begin to understand the mental, emotional and physical implications of what you need to go through with giving evidence and having to relive it all, but I can only wish for you to be better, and stronger, and healthier. Are you still turning? (for fun or as a kind of therapy).
@@yuvallahav Thank you so much Yuval for your kind words and understanding. I have great admiration for the Israeli people and the way they deal with terrorists. I'm pleased to read that you have military service behind you as my police force was paramilitary and my uniform colleagues were armed with the latest H&K weapons. I'm close to getting back to turning as I can lose myself in a beautiful piece of wood. I had a lovely surprise just a few hours ago when a dear friend dropped me off four old mahogany full-size snooker table legs. My mind is racing as to what I'll make them into but I can see two table lamps for him. With all good wishes.

Hey Mark! It's been a long while since we last spoke! How have you been? All said and done we survived these trying times, and now I hope to get some shop time and do some actual turning instead of talking about it. How have you been??
@@yuvallahav like you said "surviving the times". I stayed very busy with my job at Habitat and my boys. I'm building a new shop so hopefully I'll be putting out content soon. Take care my friend

Thanks Ian, it has been too long... I was trying to pull myself up by my bootstraps, but it didn't work much. Now I'll have me some free time and hopefully will be doing some turning!

I'm not sure why you tagged me in this video, but I'm humbled to be included alongside the likes of Jimmy and Nick. Just subbed to your channel. I'm hoping to get some more content on my channel soon. Unfortunately I got out of wood turning a couple of years ago and miss it. But it's still something I can get back into in the future.

Hey Sylvie.... it seems every time we get together in the UK, we can't seem to find a single moment in a single pub to sit and chat a little... Now I've made this silly video (can you see how uncomfortable I am all shaved and clean and facing a phone in my tiny shop??) I better get on with turning something as well, not just talk about it...
@@yuvallahav No problem Yuval, that's the way life is. Do things the way you want or the way you can and right moments happen when they have to happen. I have enjoyed this short moment when you gave me one of your tiny gauges. Hope we'll have some more and longer moments together in the future.
