- It's been over a year since my last video, Covid-19 had effected us all in all manners of ways, one of those is lack of inspiration. That streak is broken, and in the past couple of days, I've been turning again, and this lidded box of Yellowheart and Rosewood is my coming back project.

It's good to hear from you once more :) I don't ever see it as a disaster waiting to happen, more like cool relaxing work, it's like meditation to me, where I can just concentrate in what is in front of me, thinking about nothing, just letting my hands work. It's my preferred pass time, well, maybe second place to doing nothing but watching tv...

The sander I made makes sanding a breeze, it really does, I used to waste hours on sanding, with the sander, it's more like minutes. It's good to be back my friend.

Would love to take up welding, although I only have a basic electrode welder at the moment, would love to upgrade that one some day :) I only took a long long break to brood and be depressed about the situations, but I'm picking it up again now, hopefully more regularly... I'm afraid gardening isn't my thing... ;)

Very lovely. Did you really need to use such a large piece of rosewood to get the finial?
Thank you Peter. That was the smallest piece I had, and right now I couldn't cut it down to smaller pieces... ordered a new blade for my band saw, so hopefully I'll be less wasteful next time around.

This is not...IS NOT just a turning! It’s not just a covered bowl made from great examples of wood selection.
This is a complete sculpture, of turning... lay out and carving... from concept to the finish! The use of other design tools besides the lathe.
The other pieces you’ve done in this style is such a break from others!
I’d put this simple coved bowl with a very, very bold example of a finial sculpture to the lid in the center of my dinning room table !

Beautiful work. What was the finish that you used and what was the bit that you used in your Dremel to do the piercing? Nice to see another video from you.
