It would be a shrewd move to extend DJ now. The way these WR contracts are exploding in value it makes sense to bite the bullet now.
I hope Keenan can stay healthy and WANTS to stay a Bear for a few more years. BEAR DOWN
Swift... I follow like 8 different Bears podcasts or channels dependably to get different views. You by far got my favorite channel brother. Keep up the top notch homework, it's what separates you from the regulars...
In Poles I trust he'll figure it out ❤
Slow your roll there Swifty.... We have a new assembly of an offense, and a new coach putting his scheme into play. I'm certain that Poles and Flus will want to see it in action before any decisions are made. Yes the market is going up, big deal. It is more important to see how all these new parts pit together. You and me see 6+ offensive stars on this offense, but I assure you at least one of them will not pan out in this offense. Poles will look to work extensions after this season.
At least one won’t pan out? They have a quarterback that is fearless now and can throw the ball anywhere on the field and have 3 different style receivers that are all capable of getting well over 1000 yards a season average in their careers. The tight ends are both good receivers as well and the running back they just got is a good receiver. The o line is gonna be better at pass blocking this season. The coordinator is creative so if the o line isn’t good at first he will design stuff to make them better. The bears are stacked theirs only injury stopping these weapons from failing.
I agree Swifty. I would like DJ extended as soon as possible. 🐻⬇️
i think a 2 year extension is perfect right now for dj, something similar to st browns contract. that way dj is happy and we have him and odunze for 4 years under contract
Swift is the BEST in Chicago!
I agree. He’s my go to for REAL information on our favorite team
These wages are getting out of control. How can the Bears pay their receivers the market value and still pay the other quality players? Quarterbacks usually get the highest pay and if Caleb Williams turns out to be the star they hope he’ll be he will absolutely break the bank.
The Cap’s going way up and Caleb won’t get paid for 5 years. Bears are completely fine.
Man Swifty thanks for sharing these updates!!! You are the man!!! Keep up the awesome work!!!BEARDOWN ✌️ 💯 💪 👊!!!
Keenan will likely be too pricey, but let’s see. Extend DJ a few years, and build the lines and have a great defense. If Caleb hits, then we will be cooking. Keenan will net a compensation pick similar to what we gave up, so a smart rental with little risk. It all comes down to the decision to draft Caleb, in the end. If that works, then we will be in it every year for a decade.
Great stuff Swifty!! I agree with you.
I'd be surprised if the Bears do anything with KA until after the season if at all. Resetting the rookie qb contract will be huge going forward for sure.
I would talk to DJ to find out what he wants.. his agent is gonna want to break the bank. They should try to wiggle it as close as they can and sign him if it doesn’t kill the rest of the team. The NFL will extend the cap each year but getting both Rome and Caleb done at the same time is gonna cost a lot. I’d be keenly interested to know what Caleb can get out of Tyler Scott before getting too worried about Kennan Allen but i would also be talking to Allen a lot to find out what it would take to keep him.
Allen should be a one year deal
Happy 22nd Birthday to my Dawg Rome Odunze 🎉🥳🎂🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈 ⬇️
Thanks for the content.
I would certainly take a team friendly extension if I were Keenan Allen for exactly the reasons you stated.
That's a lot to swallow and maybe even for Poles! Planning salaries these days are off the chain so there really need to be team friendly increases. I hope a superbowl is in the near future like 2026😮😅 GO BEARS AND BEAR DOWN 🐻 ❤❤❤
good points man. go bears!!
Love the new bear claw sign off 🐻👇
This is why I only do one season at a time when I play sports games. F*** all that contract and budget noise. 😂
From a pure business standpoint for the bears you very well could look into extending DJ moore before the end of his deal. Would DJ go for it.. well that's another story.
🐻⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Swifty you da man
Awesome
Money wise it makes sense to extend DJ now. Personally I'd like to see Allen come back but I don't see it happening.
King poles 👑🐻
DJ I would wait....until I see how him and Caleb play together. 😅 Once you see that's Good 2 Go. I would offer DJ Moore 2years added to his deal at 25mil per with Good Bonus $$$ to keep the Cap hit lower. That 💰 on the spot gets things done. 💯
Don't know about Keenan now. Seeing that DJ & LB TJ Edwards are 2 of the best at their positions, you need to get them both extended now. We'll have plenty of cap space 'til those extensions take over. And they are both the future of the Bears!!!!
I'd like to wait until the end of the season. Let's evaluate what we actually have going on with all this talent first. This might be too many chefs in the kitchen.
Great job Swifty!!!
DJ should be extended now for another 3 years beyond the current contract that would have him with the Bears through year 5 of Caleb. DJ is a great player and a better person and I'd like to see him retire as a Bear....provided he plays at a high level. Plenty of receivers have played into their late 30's [36 - 42 (J. Rice)].
NFL Player salaries are beyond ridiculous and they need to be capped off!
Every offseason we see some player get record setting contracts. How much money is enough? It isn’t just football either, but professional sports as a whole. When is it enough and when is it about loving the game rather than wanting to be rich and famous?
Greed continues to drive the price tag up! I am not saying professional athletes should not be appropriately compensated, but $35 million a year?!? It’s the biggest reason that Roquan was traded; he wanted too much money.
I hope Poles can figure out how to extend Moore and Allen without breaking the bank. Allen obviously has the age thing happening and should be willing to negotiate hopefully. While Moore seems like a down to earth cat who will warrant considerable comp, but be open minded about his asking price in favor of franchise goals.
Bec the overall cap goes up. Think percentages not $$.
They need a player cap honestly.
@@Red87star any way it is debated though still comes back to the fact that it is too much!
It should also be noted that just because the salary cap goes up does not mean that such an increase should be eaten up by a single player! This is a team sport and no single player can win championships by themselves. So would it not be better for the increase in wealth to be spread amongst the entire roster?
Interesting food for thought Swifty. I have no issue wrapping up DJ for the rest of the rookie contracts of Odunze and Caleb. I would let Keenan Allen walk after this year. He’s still an injury risk IMO. I would rather spend that money on a pass rusher.
They 💯draft pass rusher in the next draft loaded w em.
Keenan Allen we gotta wait and see. If he plays every game and is a 3rd Down machine. But you don't wanna give him 3-4 years. Maybe you Tag him 🤷🏻💯 Don't think with Rome Oduze and DJ we should spend crazy $$$ to keep him.
U look so different wit da beard
I could've sworn we gave DJ moore money 2 years ago, why are we worried about it now if his contract isn't up til 2026?
If you were a WR would you sign a new contract or wait for your payday
Are you forgetting this is a violent contract sport and nobody is guaranteed to get a "Future payday"????
Extend DJ 2 more yrs @25 per. Allen can walk next yr unless he takes 15 or so deal Imo.
Swifty what games you going to in chicago this year ? Have to meet up
Considering week 1 and week 3 (indy) right now!! get ahold of me closer to the season
👀👀👀👀👀 wait what no black n white lol ….. 😂
I don't think the Bears will extend DJ this year . DJ seems like a guy that would not hold out . At the end of the year they will resign DJ . They can't resign Allen before DJ.
FGB/BEAR DOWN
Wow the vikings just made a long term mistake. Cap space gone
Why are you worried about extending Allen? He hasn’t played a full season in quite a while. How about news on signing Wlilliams and Odunze.
Didn’t the Bears extend a guy and lost him to career ending injury a few years back.
Oh you make that comment then talk about a guy that our PAST GM extended lol. Good one
Bro, can you change the Swift logo please? We have massive stars now and a rookie QB. I would rather see one of them than Poles
Quarterbacks are paid too much the league will have a problem with this very soon no teams with good quarterbacks will be able to afford any other good offensive players
They just keep changing the rules to limit defenses so the QBs never get touched & WRs run free. 🤷♂️
Keenan is most likely a 1 year rental. Hes old, going to ask for a lot and for more than 1 year. As good as DJ Moore is, i dont think we resign him. He'll be 29 with a lot of miles, and Poles (if still here) would want to resign Odunze (if he pans out) and pair him with another cheap young WR, either FA or through the draft. Remember we'll have to pay Caleb Williams as well-deserved (if he pans out, jfc so many ifs.)
